I've watched a bunch of 2v2 guides from huge channels and none were as helpful as this one, great tactics and really well explained.

Great video man. I've watched a lot of videos on this and all of Flakes Road to SSL series but I learned a couple of things here in regards to when exactly to rotate ballside. Epic content

At first it’s ball chasers; but for me in champ 1 it’s usually people being perpetually glued to the net.
They will go all the way back for no reason, cause a breakout for the other team, and then jump past the ball not being able to judge how quickly it’s coming and where the other team is.
You never know if they’re gonna go bc they’re always playing goalie and leaving bounces for the other team to have for free.
And the worst of all is the fact that this way, they get tons of saves and many of the shots bc I’m out there slaving away trying to put out a pass so good they actually get the gumption to come out of the net for it.
And they’ll call you a ball chaser for diving in front of them to challenge an advancing play by the other team that they keep letting them have.
And while I’m here, another pet peeve about this level is people who try to catch the ball in front of their net with the other team challenging the bounce.
I don’t think this is a matter of no skill, it’s pomposity. They envision dribbling on the other team, and they’re gonna do it regardless of what the other team does.
Then they get dunked on constantly, so you have to stay too far back to follow up any balls they actually do play properly. Then they complain about me not being there to shoot a lucky pass.
Oh and last but not least; people who can flip reset but have 0/10 defence.
I admire the amount of free play time; but you’re not playing 2s.

This is a lot of information to just take in. I had to rewatch the video like 5 times to understand something. It would be helpful to have actual animations and top view replays instead of these useless random games that just serve as a distraction

Ok, so having been playing for a while and watching tons of content and attempting to improve myself, I am definitely picking out areas where I can improve all the time. It's quite humbling but I'm just gonna go ahead and be that guy. Love it or hate it, there ARE issues with ranked where you end up in situations or with teammates that's just unfortunate. And it happens quite often really.
A little anecdotal example from my own experiences might help.
I'm plat 3 div 4 trying to earn my diamond again. Not a great rank but we all know plat sucks and I just want what I've earned and solo qued for. Teammate starts off fine. Solid rotations, some great power hits and clears. I ended up scoring 3 albeit a sweaty 3. My teammate would be caught in a situation for the remainder of the match where he was already back at goal or in position to defend after the opposing team cleared. Sure, I still have to put on my nikes and head back to help defend or do littlerally anything at all but i'm mid field. He's in goal ready. Trust your teammate they say. Don't have an ego they say. 4 times over he own goals. Turns out, I can't 1v3 and I can't 1v2 is there is a 3rd ghost player who's team changes at random because he wanted to hit a sick aerial that turns into a big flop. Dude own goals 4 times and I end up scoring one more. We tie. Maybe we can do this thing after all. Maybe with a little patience and some understanding that mistakes happen, we can shake the bad mojo and steal the win. Nope. Dude own goals again. 5 times. Lost the division and got stuck for a while.
My point is that this kinda shit happens a lot. Or maybe down in plat or diamond you get smurfs who are normally GC and I've even seen SSLs trying to boost friends out of diamond. And yes, I've even seen players who can't even fly or rotate somehow end up in plat.
There are lot of reasons for why RNJesus hates us plats and diamonds but I'll say confidently that it's probably just as much an issue with ego and playing a smart match as it is with terrible teammates or an opposing team that just wrecks you because they belong far higher. A culmination of all these things create an environment where most anyone playing the game knows that you just plain don't want to solo que ranked. If you want to play with people of your actual skill level, you need a teammate. However, if you want to be better than good anyways, you need to be practicing rocket league and learning as many techniques as possible and become consistent. So, obviously there's a way to get so good through training and casual that you could carry hard. But that's a small percentage of players.
What's the solution? Be real in your response. Don't laugh at people for ego issues when we have all had terrible teammates and it does happen. A lot. Don't get tilted and bully a bad teammate though. Just sayin. Help the dudes that are bad and those who are stuck in lower ranks that have to solo que often need to learn to get to a certain skill level to compensate and show us exactly what that skillset looks like. How good do I need to carry in Bronze? Gold? Plat? Diamond?
It's not helpful putting 100% of the blame on a player when there is only so much you can do about bad teammates or smurfs.
TLDR; it's only half your fault if you can't rank up. Get so good you can carry in your rank and always play ranked with a teammate. There's no other way about it. Fuck solo que.

    • @AirChargedGaming
      @AirChargedGaming  3 роки тому +1

I agree with the majority of your response. And I appreciate you watching content and trying to improve. But I see this a lot, people focus on the times they get a poorer team mate or they get against a smurf. It's highly unlikely every game is vs a smurf, or the team mate is bad.
I have reviewed literally hundreds of replays and out of all the replays I can count on 1 hand where the player had a bad team mate and actually made the majority of the mistakes in my opinion.
I would also be curious to know your 1v1 rank. But yes, a permanent team mate is comms does work best, but solo queueing should be possible to win.
I did a no mechanics 2v2 road to GC and there was only a handful of times team mates scored own goals, the main reason for that sounds like you are over committing, leaving them in a 2v1 and they are trying to deal with pressure without the individual ability to do so.

Oh I certainly have my own faults. Not a perfect player and there's just certain mechanics that I don't quite have a grasp of yet. Surely, when I can master some more I can be ready to put myself in a solo que without worrying about losing diamond so easily.
That said, at the time of this comment, a new season has begun. I've done my placements for 2's so far and came out plat 3 and was able to lock in diamond a few games later. Problem is, I should have been diamond anyways. Or at least, I know I had bad luck in 4 of the 10 matches. I suppose all I'm really saying is that it does take a particular skill level to breeze into those mid tier ranks. When I was doing my placement matches, I had 4 games in a row that turned into losses because the teammate either just gave up, one game the dude gave up and just stopped driving despite us being ahead by 1. The other 3 the same thing happened but we were only down by 1 each time with plenty of room to come back. So, maybe those extra wins that got me to diamond (I was playing against d2 and d3's with a friend) could have been a few divisions or even an extra rank. It simply feels like I have to do more work due to the addition of bad teammates along side my own short comings. Honestly, it gets frustrating but i love this game a ton and I won't give up trying to improve. I'm gonna keep the faith and hopefully find ways to mend the chinks in my own armor.

@@AirChargedGaming also, I'm not ranked in one's. I rarely do them but I have picked it up recently to get better with ball control and I do hop in training to work on that.

Being in plat 3/diamond 2, i know all to well how this is... but i also know sometimes i def do not make the best decisions nor am i playing the best either. Smurfs are very common in this rank, but so is the ones you look at like... how did they even get here in the first place..... just gotta play on man and if you see your teammate struggling with defense, dont be afraid to take over more on D or help out more when you notice them back there! sometimes the best offense is defense, good luck brotha!
