One of my all-time songs. I always loved it as a child when it was played on the radio. The vocal track is from the re-recording on the album "See You There".

I too, have loved this song from childhood, and was always impressed with Glenn Campbell’s guitar prowess and skill with which he performed this particular hit! I’m so glad to have the tabs to study for this one, and I will be working on it for some time to come! Thanks to the instructor and am subscribing now! Kudos for the brilliant job!😉😊😎

@@toddmcintosh83 Cheers, brother!!! You'll knock it out!!! Nowhere near as difficult as you think!!! I break down songs into sections, then, learn 1 section at a time(really get it down), then, the next section, etc...then, put it all together. I found this to be an awesome way to learn songs. Especially, more complex ones. Lile eating a good cheeseburger...can't eat it in one bite, but a bite at a time works. How I learn songs...how I have for 45 yrs!!!😝😂😁👍. Works for me. I'm in Lorida, Florida on the Kissimmee river. Was raised in Okeechobee(25 miles from me now). In God's country with a singing wife(bachelor's degree in vocal performance) and my guitars!!! Keep at the song!!! Check out "Ultimate Guitar" too. Great for learning songs!!! Justinguitar.com is phenomenal too!!! Cheers, brother, & God bless!!!😁🤘👍🙏🙏💿📀🎉🌅

The way you present this is absolutely the best. The chord shapes are right there, the timing is spot on, you went through the whole song and you didn't repeatedly stop and talk. I found this very, very helpful and I'm really impressed. It must have been a lot of work getting the timing right for the display of the chord shapes. Also you sang it beautifully. Thanks very much.

Webb wrote the melody that intentionally is discordant with the root on some chords to add tension to the haunting melody.
That with the altered chords and surprising key changes make for a virtuoso written song.
Glen played the solo on a borrowed baritone guitar because they didn't have a third verse, he just brilliantly
played the melody note for note with the lower range strings perfectly matching the mood and spirit.
Someone said on another Rick Beatto post that the violins in the chorus outro mimic the sound of power lines crackling and singing in the wind.
I believe that since the premise does not reveal the era, it could have well been when the first linemen were repairing the telegraph lines
and the dancing violin lines sound sort of like morse code being tapped out.

It's the incredible group of musicians the other musicians labeled "the wrecking crew". Their fulltime job everyday was creating background music for TV, movies, beach boys in the 1960's thru idk when. Carol kayne played bass on Wichita lineman and came up with that simple sweet intro. Glen (I love that guy) was a member, Leon Russell, who else, the bonanza theme guitar guy, tedesco, rip, watch that documentary, the wrecking crew, it's not hard to find. They played backup on so many famous groups, solo stars and never got a mention anywhere! Brian Wilson specifically wanted them for his album animal sounds while the beach boys went on tour . B.B.'s got the credits. Mammas and the Pappas. Just watch it
Glen used Carol Wayne's guitar for that enigmatic solo . Of course that song is still one the best songs ever written. Glen, I loved u as a kid , love u always and Jimmy Webb , what a super great songwriter! Thank you for it all. Thanks mom and dad for bringing Glen Campbell home. Love the good time hour too. Mason Williams, wish I still had the 45, we know it , classical gas. I learned alot about playing guitar cos of that show. I loved it so much. I even bought an ovation for it later . Yay! (I don't play an ovation anymore, I moved on. ; ) thanks for posting. Just sayin

There are several 'how to play' versions of this on youtube, i picked yours cos it was short...
And im SO happy i did, cos i dont need a bunch of yakkin, just the song- lol.
And your chords are written out nicely, and it is absolutely correct by my ear.
There is a version of Glen playing this on the Jools Holland show that im obsessed with lately...( for the last year or so).
He is playing a blue Fender Stratocaster, and his solo is just phenomenal, and i ay lead too, so i gotta learn that one by ear, but its totally worthwhile to me.
I can also sing it well, so with your help here, im off on a nice little journey...thank you for helping-
At 63, getting back to guitar after a 2 year hiatus, ( moving several states away, mainly) im working my way towards a 'comeback'.

Then I go fall down and shatter my left wrist. Man O man have I been depressed , but the good news is it is starting to come back- YAY ! Anyway never give up Ed- keep on nailing it !! :-)

Maybe a shout out to an actual lineman?
