Replaced an iMac display yesterday with a USB-C cable to power & provide video to the display. I'm mounting the display inside the existing iMac screen housing. It's tight but it's doable. I had to modify the arm slightly by removing a component on the bottom to fit the USB-C head through it. I created a 3d printed part to replace what I removed, and it seems like it should work. We'll find out soon!
What is the model number of the AOC display? Do you believe a larger display could be used in the 17inch iMac? I believe it is heavier and mechanism is stronger.
@@reggieblond2405 The model is AOC 22B2H. i think it is not possible to add much heavier/bigger screens to this arm unless: - you can find a bigger screen which is very light (2.3 kg or less), maybe portable usb c monitors - somehow you modify the arm into a fixed unmovable position, I think the movement does not make much sense with big screens anyway. I dont know if the 17 inch arm is stronger or exaclty the same
The magsafe charger is an outstanding addition
Bro this is a masterpiece
Neat idea to convert the CD tray!

Any progress on the porject?
man, that display looks great on it. Very clever.
Could you please upload your 3D printed VESA mount for download? I'm working on doing something similar too! Thank you!!!
Yours looks good too with the magnetic mount 🙂, i will upload the VESA mount during the weekend
Are you willing to share the 3D file for the VESA mount?
It is available on my MakerWorld page:
makerworld.com/en/models/746488
But apparently, not every G4 iMac has the same arm pattern.
nice build
Are yo planning to buy a Mac mini m4 and put it inside de body ?
I have an M1 MacBook Air, which is enough for now, but it would be very cool :)
Can you upload the Mag safe Slider 3d print!???
This is only a prototype. I'm currently working on version 2.0, which will be much simpler. Once it's finished, I'll upload it
Can you provide the 3D print files for the Vesa mount bracket? Design looks good

You can paint the monitor in white?
i used white sticker, but painting is also an option.
i was not able to find simular monitor with white bezels.
The pink is a little gay. But the build looks like great quality. Nice work man, keep up!
What’s wrong with a little gay?
Haha this is such a 2008-esque comment.
Looks nothing like anything that’s gay. It’s just lighting
