Re-calibrate reset the VSC TRAC on Lexus SC430

- Following the replacement of the O2 sensors on my wife's Lexus SC430, the shop failed to reset the VSC TRAC lights. I was able to DIY the reset using a paper clip. First, make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and the front wheels are facing straight forward. With the keys NOT in the ignition set the paper clip to the jump the appropriate pins. Then insert the key and turn the ignition to ON but do not actually start the motor. The VSC lights will flash consistently, meaning the system is being reset. You only need to see the blinking for a few seconds. Now turn the ignition off and remove the keys. Next remove the paper clip thus disconnecting the jumper. Start the car and the lights should turn off.
Cheers for the amazing information on recalibrating VSC TRAC light. I made a change using ODB scanner and the end result generated VSC TRAC OFF light. Thank You Very Very much!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This absolutely worked for my car! Light has been on for months! Notice where the top of the plug is and place as on video and do as instructed! GOD BLESS YOU SIR! Glory to God!
Your OBD-2 pin jumper solution to re-calibrate (fix) the VSC TRAC light always on problem worked perfectly on my 2002 SC430. Thank you sharing.
Oh my gosh!! You’re like a car Dad, thank you for sharing this vid. I have had my car tested in machines at 2 shops.. and this did it, on my own!! Thanks
Glad this worked out for you. Thanks for the nice reply.
Could not figure this out for a year. Your advice did the trick on my 2003 SC430. You sir are my hero.
Awesome! Glad this worked out for you. Have a great weekend.
Wow, how ironic??? We have the same car, the same color, the same mileage and the same year. Thank you Sir for your hard work. I changed the air filter and VSC/Check engine light went on. Now, I know how to reset/recalibrate the light thank to you. God Blessed!!!
worked on my 2005 SC430. Same deal that toyota dealership did not recalibrate and returned it to me with these lights on. thank you so much!!!!!
The gift that keeps on giving!
Thank you Stephen. I put my car in for a fault with the roof mechanism and got it back with a fixed roof and a VSC light that wouldn't go off. The auto electrician said his Techstream didn't reach back to my 2003 model so he couldn't recalibrate the car. Take it to "Lexus", he said !!! Well, I got onto Google and laid my heart bare asking how to fix a VSC light on and you, electronically, galloped to the rescue. I had to destroy a perfectly good paper clip but the end justified the means............ Thank you, thank you, thank you, all the way from Sydney, Australia
Great job Stephen. Viewing your video saved me from taking my car into the Lexus dealership where they most likely would have charged me for an hour's labor or to replace the VSC switch. Thank you!
You're a legend man, worked on my 02 LS430 like a charm. Saved me a bunch of calls back and forth with a dealer and body shop that it came from. Took like a minute not including the test drive.
Yeah man... glad that worked for you!
VSC light and VSC Off light came on after a locksmith attached a scan tool to the OBD II port to program the chip in a replacement key for my SC430. This video saved me $ and hassle and took literally 60 seconds. Thanks!
This can happen when someone connects a non " Techstream" (Toyotas factory scan tool) to your obd2 port. The lexus service manual has you jump the pins you indicate but says to do it in a fairly lengthy 15 step process. I believe they do this in order to reset all the sensors the system looks at... the SAS (steering angle sensor) Yaw sensors and the deceleration sensors and Im not sure your quickie method does all that but it does work to get the light off and the VSC to work again (as long as there isnt an actual real problem in one of the sensors or in the module itself). The potential Problem with this method is if the values of all those sensors have not been reset correctly, it may possibly cause your stability control to be unable to predict the actual forces on your vehicle in a skid and therefor apply corrections that may be based on erroneous values. So not necessarily a good thing.
Not really sure but that's my take away. The Toyota recommended procedure should be able to be found online by searching ( lexus C1336). And honestly its not all that much harder to do than this.
Thanks for the extra info. Sounds like you have more knowledge on this topic. I encourage everyone to do thorough and exhaustive research before making any changes. Thanks for the added details.
this is what happened to me havent tried the jump yet a bit intimidating soooo small
Thank you so much, Stephen, for sharing this pain saving tip! Yours is the simplest, but best! It worked out on my sc430 like a chime! It troubled me for a year. Thank you again!!!
Glad that worked out for you! Thanks for leaving a positive note.
Dude, you are the best! My mom said her cars vsc light has been on for months, and she wasn't able to take it to the shop. Of course I had to check for another option and your page did the trick. Thanks and keep up the good work!
The procedure worked perfectly on my 2002 SC430. Thanks so much for posting this video and sharing the information. Great view of the jumper placement too.
You nailed it perfectly. I used the "5" left side and the "3" right side for the jumpers or "53"
Awesome! Thanks for leaving feedback. Glad this worked for you.
Man, I been driving around for 2 yrs with those lights on. I did exactly what you said and it worked!!!! Thank you dude!
Did it came back again?
@@lifeincanadianprairie6270 not yet, 🤞🏾
@@CarlJohnsonandAssociates my lights are on. I want them off.
@@toniod.mitchell1396 follow the steps in the video, that's what I did .
Thank you, Thank you - I had a sensor Bank 1 sensor 1 replaced (2002 SC430) and this VSC light would not go off. Watched your video and performed jump just as you said. Wow! Done and done! So easy.
Thank you for taking your time and sharing this to all of us. God Bless You!
You are definitely THE MAN! This actually worked after I tried all kinds of suggested fixes, pulled fuses, disconnected the neg. battery terminal, Had no DTC CAN codes just these damn lights following a engine light on issue due to bad gas cap. BTW, I have the EXACT same car as you. Same year (I can tell from wheel disk covers) same color, same interior. Only thing I don't have is that wood insert in your steering wheel. Was that an option? Thank you.
Perfect, thanks you. Just fixed my Lexus ES300 VSC light using your tips.
It worked great the first time. Some little hose near the oil dipstick keeps disconnecting. It triggers the light every couple of months. I recently bought a code reader to reset the check engine light and it erased all codes, including the VSC trac. Though your method worked for me the first time it happened. Thanks!
If u don't mind tell me the brand name & the model # & how much!
It's a very good tool to have!
Thank you very much for your help. It worked great, save me a 3 Hour Dr. going to the Lexus dealer.
This worked for a 2002 SC 430 as well. Great video! thanks .
Worked Perfect on my 2003 ES300. Issue gone. Thanks, dude! 👌
Greta video!! Got my customer on the road in less than 5 minutes! Our DTCs Scanner could not resolve issue
Thank you Stephen.. did work for my car bless you brother..
15k snap on machine couldn’t do it but a split 😂. Thank you. I had abs fault which I fixed and couldn’t clear the vsc light thank you
Worked on my 02 with 123k. Thank you! Seems like these type of tricks never work, what a surprise lol
This worked great on my 2002 SC430
Ps- mine had set off a constant alarm. Now I’m good. Again, thank you for sharing this info!
thank you for this video it is vary helpful
I have a constant alarm.VSC and ABS lights on SC430.
Thanks a lot from France. Easy manipulation and some euros saved 👍
Awesome! Glad this helped!
Worked on my 2005 Pebble Beach Edition like a charm! Thank you very much!
Awesome. Love the Pebble Beach as well. Nice!
Out of all the. Videos this one helped thanks
This was spot on. Thank you.
Thanks for the video it really helped a lot
Thank you for doing this
Awesome, I just did it. Thank you so much. You are awesome
thank you so much for the sharing, little trick fast and easy, work great.
Work just like you said. Thank you so much. Great instructions!
Wow! That was toooo easy. Thank you soo much. Question? The lighter came on because I swapped the pen radio for a new double din. The tpws light is on, how can I get that ti go? It was not on before and the tires are correctly inflated.
it worked great. thank you
Thank you so much
It worked perfectly just as you showed it
Awesome! thank you for the vid..just did it ..Worked perfectly!
Fantastic. Glad it worked for you. Appreciate the comment!
Worked like a charm! 👍
Thank you!
Works for me too. Thanks so much. The mechanic wants to charge 200 for a 30sec fix.
Thanks for the video very helpful could better if you mention the PIN number for each line
So whats the metal piece that you're using as a jumper...? What are you sticking in those holes?
That did the trick for me. Thanks for the great easy video.
Bro you are the man!
Thank you for your video! I was thinking wtf to do.
Awesome! Glad this helped!
Wish I’d seen this before having the whole clock spring mechanism replaced 😂
That worked! Clear instructions, thank you!
Success. Many thanks
THANKS , I HAVE PUT NEW AFTERMARKET ALLOY WHEELS AND NOW TR.CONTROL AND VSC LIGHT NOT COMING OFF
Awesome. Glad this helped out. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Where did you get the steering wheel emblem? Love it. Thanks
Would this issue also cause a failure with the convertible top?!?!?
Great video i have same car I will try it today
Worked perfectly thank you
Thank you for your video.
Nice video. The TPMS light on my 2004 SC430 is constantly on even with normal tire pressure--I assuming one or more of the sensors are bad. Is there a way to re-set the TPMS light to make it go off without unplugging the wire underneath the shift cover as some people have suggested? thanks
Are the two pins numbered?
Mine just came on, I tried this nothing is happening. The lights are not blinking when I attach the clip to the ports! Any idea? Thx
Work perfect thanks.
Muchas gracias!!!
Thank you!
I don't understand what a "jumper" is ... guess I'm a novice. Can you explain?
a paper clip "wire" used to "jump" between two metal electronic terminals (end points) located inside the 'white plastic thingy'™ (OBD port)
@@bellinghammond Thanks for responded bellinghammond. I just saw the questions. Yeah... a paper clip will act as an electrical "jumper" between two points. Sorry I did not see this sooner. Thanks for jumping in.
Done!
My concern here is,the paper clip used to connect the “2”pins together, applied to my 02 RX300,also ? Because mine, has only the VSC and ABS light...thanks
I think it's the same.
Works thank you
Awesome! Glad this helped out!
thanks!
2002 sc430, didn't work. I must have additional issues going on with the car than just a simple reset. Thanks tho.
stupid question but where do youget the jump pins?
I just used a paper clip. Open it up so that it fits in the two specific holes... and make sure that it is bent in a way that will apply a little pressure. That will ensure it maintains electrical connectivity. Good luck.
How do you find which is the “CG” and “TS” in a nissan 350z 2003? Plz help
I watched the video and I tried something old fashion, I simply disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes. Reconnected the battery and haven’t seen that light again. It’s been months btw.
didnt work for me
I have the same issue... is this always a solution, or could there be something else causing the lights to come on the dashboard. My A/C does not work, my convertible top button does work, and certain buttons on the panel such as the VSC don’t work. No beeping noises... nothing. Would using this method to restart, help any of my other issues? I heard that when the drop top button does not work, it will usually make a beeping noise or turn red... but mine does nothing at all, same as my A/C button. Any ideas?
Hello... it sounds like you may have something else happening. The method I show in the video is really just to re-calibrate the VSC, which in turn makes the VCS lights stop blinking. If you have all those other problems at the same time... that may be an electrical issue or something else. My prediction is that this re-calibration will not fix those issues. However, I also doubt the re-calibration would do any damage of any kind. Good luck!
Stephen Persky thank you 🙏🏽
Hey, when I turn the battery on with the pins down there . It doesn't flash consistently and nothing happens, CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASEEEE
Hi Ben... my best guess is that the paper clip/jumper is in the wrong slots. What type of car do you have? If it is a Lexus SC430... it should be the exact slots you see in my video. If it is a different vehicle, you may need to try some different slots. Ultimately, I am not a Lexus mechanic... I just figured this out at home and posted the video. Apologies if this does not help you.
This did not work for a 2007 SC430.
АГОНЬ! метод работает)))
Got the lights to blink but my lights are still on lol
Ok
Worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
