  • A few years ago Bill & I went on a walk in the Black Mountains. About a week later I cleared down my SD cards before going out on another shoot - and 3 days later I suddenly realised I could not find the footage from this walk. I had not downloaded it into lightroom at the time for some reason & thought it was lost. I have a number of portable drives I back stuff up onto & only last week whilst looking for something esle did I come across it - hidden inside a folder inside a folder !

Great to see the addition of the drone footage to your video Al. It really enhances. Lovely to see you making a visually beautiful video of the Blacks. This will show people our area wonderfully.

Morning Dave, I have often said to Bill that the drone stuff enhances these types of these videos, especially when the landscape is so wonderful. The Blacks are deffo my fave part of the beacons and I always look forward to getting out up rthere. I had a quick bimble p through the forest to he Maen Lwyd standing stone on Friday - I walked through the forest where they are felling quite a lot atm, the stone is actually clear in all directions now. Thanks for the lovely comment mate. atb Al

Great video , amazing drone footage. I love that approach in and the summit of Rhos Dirion is one of my favourites. Feels relatively remote there , nice and lofty but desolate at the same time. Thanks for sharing

Lol.. morning Nick. As mentioned in the desription this video is now 3 years old - I seem to have slowed immensly in that time and am evcen more out of breath than in this video..lol. Still, I have managed a short walk these last few days and am hoping to get back to some fitness that will allow getting up those hills, at any pace I can manage. I spoken to Bill last night and asked him to read the comments on this video - hopefully this wille ncourage him to bring that drone along and video more of these beautiful scenes. I dare say I shall chat online to you later mate - hope you are having a good weekend. atb Al

Fantastic Alan - I can never resist a Black Mountain video. It's a great approach in and I agree them Skylarks are the sound of summer - love it. Hey, no Spielberg but a brilliant photographer. And that drone footage was top rate. I have so many memories going back to childhood of the Grwyne Fawr - good to see you there. I hope Bill got his dinner. All the best as always. Mark

Good Morning Mark, I think there is a group of people who like myself have a special feeling about this part of the Brecon Beacons & I know from your videos that you share that same affection. Thansk you for those kind words esecially on my photography, much appreciated. Hope you are keeping well. atb Al

@@thevalleywalker Hi Alan, you are totally right there - many people have had some special moments in this part of the Beacons. And that will continue for the new generation. A pleasure to mention your photography - it's true. Me? Doing alright thanks. Have a good week ahead.

Looks an amazing walk. You were breathing heavy all the way but I bet that break at the top was most welcome…The Mic sounds good to me.
It’s great you added the aerial views from the drone footage. I could see you chatting away below. Enjoyed the watch with the accompanying music 👍🏼😎

Good to see you out again, Al. You walking at a cracking pace! Nice to see Grwyne Fawr reservoir again. Wireless mics can be really useful little things once they're all set up. I don't use mine anywhere near as much as I should, but plugging everything in always takes longer than I want to spend 😅 I've never seen Rhos Dirion green - only white. It really is lovely up there. Two vids in three days, hey? Keep em coming! James.

Morning James, thanks for the watch and the comment - much appreciated. This is old footage from 2021 but I plan get to get back out on this route again soon. Hope you had a succesful camp this weekend, looking forward to seeing the video. Having now known whereabouts you camoed its not too far from a spot I was going to recommend - although, its not a summit camp. I never spend enough time setting myself up with sound etc and it tells, I shoud take more time if I want to do this right. speak soon. atb Al

@@thevalleywalker Oh I seeee. I couldn't quite tell when you'd filmed this, but didn't realise it was years ago! Still well worth uploading and sharing though ☺This weekend's camp was fraught with errors, but enjoyable nonetheless. There is SO much to think about when creating a video, isn't there? A photo is a static image, and that's that. Video requires hundreds/thousands of frames to work well, it requires direction, production, and effective audio, so it's not surprising that a video needs much more prep, concentration and time. I find I have enough to think about with the walking and camping, so the video takes second place really. It would be great to focus on the actual video production to make more cohesive films, but I don't think I'd even acknowledge that I'd been camping if I put that much effort into the video! The whole deal is a happy trade-off, and we learn with every video that we make 🤓 Take care.
