I'm glad we got em. He's a very likable dude and is well respected by everyone. I believe he's the right coach to bring us to the SEC. It might not be pretty this 1st season, but I think we'll make some waves this season and hopefully in a championship in the 2025-2026 season. He's getting the great defense recruits. I'm just not sure if it's quite deep enough in the first sec year.
I love BV! He is instilling a sense of stewardship in these young players, getting them out of their egos and into their Truth. This is so powerful and admirable.
I usually cant watch a UA-cam videos for this length of time but i can honestly say listening to Mr. BV speak about football and his passion and his excitement about what he is doing as a HC made this seem like a 10 minute video. Great interview
Interesting fact: Coach Synder wrote 3 letters to Baker, one each year that they played ! They were letters of encouragement, which is an Awesome thing for an opposing Head Coach to Do and Coach Stoops never complained about it, which is also awesome !
Riley is arrogant. Recruits and their families pick up on that. He couldn't recruit elite defensive talent because Oklahoma wasn't playing good defense. When I first heard Riley had left , two words came out of my mouth, BRENT VENABLES.
@Del-Scent Aman to that man I'm so happy with this coaching staff the culture they are building and the recruiting they are doing going have OUr team in very good spot SOONER rather then later BOOMER!!
Love seeing all of the positive comments because this was BV on a snails pace. You don’t catch him tired very often but you can tell it took him a minute to get going. So many coaches have a win today and who cares about tomorrow approach where BV from day one saw the issues of a Riley ran program, knows what it takes to win NC’s, he has 3 and knows how you build a championship yet sustainable program not just team. He had a plan from day one that stretched well beyond the field yet everything ties into winning and how you do it the right way. His message is consistent and he never waivers from his plan and vision. The SOUL mission program was laughed at by some in the beginning not seeing the attraction and/or the benefit of such a program but as a parent of teenage athletes that compete at a high level I can’t imagine a coach I would rather have them play for in any sport at any level. He knows it takes time to do things right and to build a sustainable program that the next coach won’t have to start where he did after Riley and will have a much easier and quicker path to success. Of course we don’t know what 2024 will look like but what I do know is that SEC fans and talking heads will find out who OU is and always has been. When you have historical jokes of a program like Mizzou thinking they somehow have surpassed OU there are some programs that are going to be reminded how many times they have been kicked around the field by Oklahoma. It’s not the competition I’m worried about as OU can play with anyone but it’s the fact that the competition in conference doesn’t really give you a break from week to week. UT being pushed as some championship program all of the sudden are failing to remember the recent history of the program and the fact last season was literally Sarks first season winning double digits. He’s done a great job but it’s the fact UT is being held up on a pedestal and OU being looked at as a lower tier team is one of the strangest turnarounds in perception that I’ve seen in a while. They have been a laughing stock for over the last decade and they finally win 10 plus games and make the playoffs “ONE” year and all of the sudden they are being picked for NC’s? Great thing about sports is we always find out who is who and what’s what. Anyone thinking OU will come in and struggle literally have no idea where this program is and who this program has been. It’s still the winningest program in the modern era. THE WINNINGEST This isn’t a program that knows anything other than winning. As the Great Barry Switzer said, “ Oklahoma invented winning”.
I hope I speak for most or all of sooner fans when I say that we love your passion, and your beliefs in work ethic, and also your beliefs in society. Man I love hearing you speak. I’m glad that you’re here doing your thing at Oklahoma. We all believe in you Brent. Let’s get it done
Coach Venerable is a great human being and leader, teacher, mentor, and inspiration to all players husbands and old guys like me. His encouragement and exhortation make me as an 81 year old want to blast through a wall for him. He has the right approach, standards, and love of those he leads to make them great for themselves and our society. God bless and continue on your path with great success. Do not loose your vision. Love you BV and would even let you lead my grand children and that is the greatest compliment I can give you.
No, David Stone is mad at you because the owner of On3 is a manchild who is more focused on devaluing a kid’s ranking based on a petty grudge than an accurate assessment of his skill and talent that he’s worked hard to present.
OU's entry into the SEC reminds me of the music in the movie "The Chronicles of Riddick" where after the Lord Marshal says, "get my armada off the ground", that awsome sound of a MONSTER arising!
Venables is just 100% passion and experience. He has an obvious love for the game and his job. Some times when he’s talking it feels like he’s rambling. I think he could work on being a little more straight forward. But he knows how to fire up young men.
There is a man that could go 0 and 12 and still be one of the best coaches in college football, love and loyalty just ooze out of him, doing things the right way will pay off. This team will surpass last years record, even with the tougher competition.Boomer
I'm concerned about the future power dynamics within college football between coaches, players, and donors now that NIL is becoming a thing. It's going to make it tougher for coaches to enforce and instill their principles with tip talent at a top program, because there's easily demand and money for them at other programs. Then you have big NIL donors, or even university donors to worry about. All they'd have to do is threaten to pull their donations if they don't like what you're doing, or like the principles you're trying to instill.. And most people in institutions are unprincipled and are quick to down to money.
The word Oklahoma comes with a hella amount of nattys and big12 chips Texas couldn’t fathom. Y’all’s ego is so high for a school that is mid for decades at a time.. LMAO
Oklahoma state isn't a basketball school it's known for wrestling as far as Kansas goes they cheat basketball for years .Saban cheated now wants to change even Bear Bryant cheated back then. I can go on and on God can only judge but the future isn't bright because kids don't wanna learn
