As a Longhorn fan. I'm rolling with Georgia. It would not surprise me to see Notre Dame win given health issues for UGA. But UGA still has their Defense. And it'll make life tough. Notre dame won't be running all over them.

Good take, honestly I'm biased as a UGA fan but I don't think ND trying to play the same brand of football is going to be able to keep up. To me this is a similar matchup to when UGA pushed Michigan around 3 years ago. I think UGA wins by 10+ points.
I agree I really feel like Georgia is going to become really creative in the run game now that we actually have a quarterback who wants to run. Beck could run but only did when he had to. Gunner is definitely someone who wants to take off. Think about the fits all the scramblers gave us this year. I think it’s time for us to repay the favor
You should check elite ND's defensive passing performance against QBs over the last few years. ND neutralizes good QBs (even Caleb Williams) and makes everyone else look terrible. Much better chance Gunner Stockton looks like Conner Weigman (12 of 30 for 100 yards) or Kurtis Rourke (prior to garbage time: 9 of 19 for 94 yards; finished 20 of 33 for 215).
@ Your passing defense is not going to be any better than TX which is still another good defense. Plus, since you guys run an offense similar to GA that helps our defense who effectively practices against it everyday. That being said the x factor will be qb play. GA defense is going to look to stop your run game and make Riley beat them with his arm and less so legs. They do that Gunner won’t have to do too much to win. If not then ND has a shot to win

Seems like a very vanilla defense to me and a one trick pony offense for Notre Dame as well. Their quarterback doesn't seem to be able to throw the football confidently past the sticks.
Mills getting injured was huge. Offensive/Defensive line built progrum gets difficult when your best guys on the d-line keep going down. Should be a good game - good Irish ☘️

@@LeeH-c8g it's not about stats, it's about eye test. ND secondary and LBers are championship level. Dline ND is already down their best Edge Traore which is why Mills is leading team in sacks. ND has to blitz to get pressure on QB but they been doing that and relying on DBs all year. You can ask who they played but that doesn't matter much they pass the eye test. Multiple pros back there. ND run defense shouldn't fall off too much without Mills the backups are capable. But they aren't nearly as capable of generating the pass rush or pushing the pocket back at the QB they way Mills can.

It will be closer than people think. The last two times ND played GA, they lost but it was close games. ND is better than they were then. But the injuries are gonna do ND in. Great game nonetheless. Go Irish.

Don’t forget Gunner is in his 3rd year so he knows the offense and having 3 weeks to get first team reps you can be sure he and the entire team will be ready. That being said we will have to play a mistake free game on both sides. ND defense is really good and plays team defense but they will not be able to hold Georgia for 4 quarters and offense will not be able to run like they want to against this defensive line that will have 5 or six healthy interior defensive lineman to rotate and stay fresh all game. Biggest issue for any second-string QB is he has less recognition of how his first-string receivers will break when covered. Only experience brings that.

But (and this is the big thing that people don’t get with their pass game) Leonard runs it on a LOT of yards pass downs. They would be sacks or negative run yards in the stats of other teams. Instead, it is +50 yards (and multiple first downs) on pass downs. Add 50 or so to his passing yards. He has been gashing teams all season with that.

A lot of Georgia/SEC fans seem to think they’re as dominant of a conference as they were maybe 5 years ago. They also seem to think they’re playing the same ND team that they did under BK. Genuinely think this game is a tossup and I’m staying away from it when it comes to my money. I actually would take ND if Carson Beck was starting. Im having a lot of Cardale Jones OSU feelings w the Georgia team ND will face. He’s been on the team for multiple years w nearly a month to prep as first team qb. I actually don’t think this game will be close (10-14 pts diff) - I just really don’t have a clue who that team will be.

The Dawgs will typically start the game slow. Conservative plays with a new QB. ND fans will feel great when they go into the half up 3. UGA adjusts, turns Gunner loose and the Dawgs pull away by 13+ points…and the Irish lose to the Dawgs AGAIN.

I see this game playing out very much like the ND/OSU game last year. What OSU did against anyone else last season obviously didn't apply when they met an equal match - especially on defense.
Dont bet no money on that! Kirby and Georgia have a huge chip on their shoulder from getting robbed last year by the committee 1 loss against Bama in the Sec championship game and they got voted out and have not lost a single game in regular season in almost 3 seasons prior to that loss. When was the last time a team played Georgia with a very good but undersized defensive line and came out winners? Maybe 2016? Losing the DT and defensive captain is just too much of a blow.
That 2017. ND Team may be better than this team. They were bigger/better on the D line. Air Force army navy. NIU. WAY to challenge your self to get ready for competition like GA. UGA may be down. You know GA scored a touchdown with Gunner Stocktons first drive of the game agains a top defense in the country. What other backup QB can do that? Plus if anything GAs offense has been the weak spot this whole year. The defense is still the same and will do better. Gunner will play better than Beck imo. Receivers will now have a fresh start knowing if they drop balls this time it’s not because of how Beck threw them.
Actually a lot of times a backup has to come in they go down and score especially when that backup is a vastly different style to the starter, but until OT they didn’t do much of anything for the rest of the half

I didn’t listen to all of this commentary but in My humble opinion- The majority of the Pressure is on ND. I have full confidence that Texas would handily beat ND. Note: GA (w/Stockton) defeated TX in a solid won game and for the second meeting in this same year. Q: What other team(s) could have beaten the Texas Longhorns twice?
Gunner Stockton is a 5 🌟 recruit, he's been there for 2yrs now! Enough about how Georgia dosen't have the talent 😂 I'm a ND fan and this Georgia team is the weakest Georgia team they've had in 5 or more yrs, so this is absolutely the time to clip them... So no excuses about it anymore, I'm fully aware that ND has massive injury problems this season, they've lost 6 starters to season ending injuries and that's why they lose to Georgia 🤷♂️ Hope I'm wrong!!
Also, wouldnt say it is the weakest team. People need to understand that this team has been the most beat up team in Kirby Smart's tenure. OL injuries, I mean key injuries, def injuries, key ones, Have had basically 2 backs most of the year that werent a walkon, one a true freshman. During that gauntlet they ran on the road in the SEC where they lost to Ole miss, they were SO beat up by then. The team you guys will be facing is healthier, all running backs are back and healthy, OL is healthy at least a lot healthier, Def is very healthy. Rested. I feel the same as you where GA has no excuse now to not win this game. They will be healthier than they have been all year. Im not worried about the Beck/Gunner thing. I think gunner will play smart, probably turn the ball over less than Beck hopefully and I think he will get good protection. The KEY for GA will be owning the line of scrimmage. If they win that, game over for ND, if they lose that, GA will have a very hard time at winning. I think this game is less about the QBs and more about owning the lines and running the ball. Neither QB will be asked to drop back and lead a pass heavy attack. I dont think either team will put a lot on thier QBs unless they get behind by like 2 scores or more. I only give GA the edge because they have more size on their OL and DL, solid everywhere but secondary, DBs are iffy, safeties are top notch. I just dont think ND will be able to exploit that weakness because they have no real true threat at WR not like Ryan WIlliams etc. No stud. Nd is more of a running team. They prefer to run than pass. I think GA is bigger on the lines and have more depth along those lines. If GA wins, that will be the reason. Rather they will play bigger, well we will see.

SEC fans on here talking about y’all don’t know what playing in this conference is like is insane after watching one of the best teams in the conference get boat raced last week. As a Notre Dame fan this is going to be a tough one and I really don’t know what to expect with Beck out for Georgia and the Irish losing Rylie Mills. To act like Notre Dame doesn’t belong on the same field as Georgia after talking 8 OTs to beat Tech and barely beating Kentucky or Florida is insane though
As a Georgia fan: The UF and Tech games are Rivalries (one on a neutral field) and Brent Key has a special hatred for UGA dude literally is up for the game every year even if they are a bottom feeder ACC team or barely making bowl games. They did beat Miami by two scores at home, and UF should have won had Lagway not gone down. Beck and Bobo make the offense one dimensional when they have man coverage plus Beck’s UCL was nagging him all year up until he got hurt. Kentucky always plays us tough in Lexington. Texas also has one of if not the best defense in the country and Georgia beat them twice once with Gunner leading them that second half. The best team ND has played all year was A&M and that was an early season game. Yes they lost to NIU and looked to have gotten better each game but let’s not sit here and say The SEC has sucked these playoffs when Tennessee was on the road in a game Ryan Day had to win to save his job. Texas handled Clemson, we’ll see what Georgia can do against ND so what if the team isn’t as good as their incredible 21 & 22 teams beating Texas twice and 2 other playoff contenders (Clemson and Tennessee) is something you can’t take away from. Will see what happens in the superdome but give UGA their flowers for the gauntlet schedule and winning the conference
UT is not a great SEC team. ABSOLUTELY no one believed they would do well in the playoffs. UGA is going to mop Notre Dame with a backup QB… and I’m a Bama fan.

Gunnar Stockton won't be a significant problem for Notre Dame, Tyler Buchner who is literally a carbon copy of Stockton is running the Georgia scout team offense, the Irish defense will be ready for exactly what Stockton can do. It's gonna be a low scoring game.
I just want to point out that the playoffs should only be the winners and lovers of playoffs. Why? Because Georgia lost their qb in this extra game that other teams do not have to play. While beck was getting hurt, Notre Dame was just chilling. Teams like Ohio State get in and miss that extra game. It just does not make sense to reward teams with playoff spots without playing in conference championships. Georgia may pay the price for playing that game.
Beck has 28 TDs against 12 . . . count 'em . . . 12 INTs. That is NOT GOOD. He also had TWO picks erased by penalties against Texas in the SECCG. I just don't believe Stockton is going to be a downgrade. Worst case, he's about the same, but can RUN better. Georgia is NOT a QB centered football team. It's a DEFENSE centered football team. It should be a good game.
When you have George Pickens, Ladd McConkey, Brock Bowers, and James Cook as your skill players its a favorable situation for any QB. Not saying Bennett didn't do what he had to in order to win but UGA does not have anywhere near the skill guys they had those championship years. If the defense doesn't play significantly better than it has since week 1 against Clemson, the Dawgs are in trouble
Stetson Bennett was a great QB for Georgia. Acting like he was just a walk on or backup is stupid because in hindsight he proved he was much more capable. Time will tell about Stockton but i dont think he is ready for this game.

I barely saw any GA fans saying that FSU didn't belong in the playoffs last year. Remember, GA got wronged last year too, so we knew exactly how FSU fans were feeling. If the new rules had been in place, they would've had no choice but to put FSU in, hurt qb or not, because they were conference champs.

There's absolutely no way Georgia is stopping all of Love, Price, Williams, AND Leonards running production. Also a lot of non ND people probably don't realize that ND has done what they've done while significantly limiting snaps for their key skill players all season long. RL rarely played an entire game this season, still set the all time season rushing TD record for a ND QB. And this ND defense is MEAN. They want violence. We haven't seen a ND team like this in decades. Georgia will have their hands full no matter what their delusional fans think.

Plus, since you guys run an offense similar to GA that helps our defense who effectively practices against it everyday. That being said the x factor will be qb play. GA defense is going to look to stop your run game and make Riley beat them with his arm and less so legs. They do that Gunner won’t have to do too much to win. If not then ND has a shot to win

@@LeeH-c8g it's not about stats, it's about eye test. ND secondary and LBers are championship level. Dline ND is already down their best Edge Traore which is why Mills is leading team in sacks. ND has to blitz to get pressure on QB but they been doing that and relying on DBs all year. You can ask who they played but that doesn't matter much they pass the eye test. Multiple pros back there. ND run defense shouldn't fall off too much without Mills the backups are capable. But they aren't nearly as capable of generating the pass rush or pushing the pocket back at the QB they way Mills can.

ND defense is really good and plays team defense but they will not be able to hold Georgia for 4 quarters and offense will not be able to run like they want to against this defensive line that will have 5 or six healthy interior defensive lineman to rotate and stay fresh all game. But (and this is the big thing that people don’t get with their pass game) Leonard runs it on a LOT of yards pass downs. They would be sacks or negative run yards in the stats of other teams. Instead, it is +50 yards (and multiple first downs) on pass downs. Add 50 or so to his passing yards. He has been gashing teams all season with that.

The Dawgs will typically start the game slow. Conservative plays with a new QB. ND fans will feel great when they go into the half up 3. UGA adjusts, turns Gunner loose and the Dawgs pull away by 13+ points…and the Irish lose to the Dawgs AGAIN.

Plus if anything GAs offense has been the weak spot this whole year. The defense is still the same and will do better. Gunner will play better than Beck imo. Receivers will now have a fresh start knowing if they drop balls this time it’s not because of how Beck threw them.

Also, wouldnt say it is the weakest team. People need to understand that this team has been the most beat up team in Kirby Smart's tenure. OL injuries, I mean key injuries, def injuries, key ones, Have had basically 2 backs most of the year that werent a walkon, one a true freshman. During that gauntlet they ran on the road in the SEC where they lost to Ole miss, they were SO beat up by then. The team you guys will be facing is healthier, all running backs are back and healthy, OL is healthy at least a lot healthier, Def is very healthy. Rested. I feel the same as you where GA has no excuse now to not win this game. They will be healthier than they have been all year. Im not worried about the Beck/Gunner thing. I think gunner will play smart, probably turn the ball over less than Beck hopefully and I think he will get good protection. The KEY for GA will be owning the line of scrimmage. If they win that, game over for ND, if they lose that, GA will have a very hard time at winning. I think this game is less about the QBs and more about owning the lines and running the ball. Neither QB will be asked to drop back and lead a pass heavy attack. I dont think either team will put a lot on thier QBs unless they get behind by like 2 scores or more. I only give GA the edge because they have more size on their OL and DL, solid everywhere but secondary, DBs are iffy, safeties are top notch. I just dont think ND will be able to exploit that weakness because they have no real true threat at WR not like Ryan WIlliams etc. No stud. Nd is more of a running team. They prefer to run than pass. I think GA is bigger on the lines and have more depth along those lines. If GA wins, that will be the reason. Rather they will play bigger, well we will see.

SEC fans on here talking about y’all don’t know what playing in this conference is like is insane after watching one of the best teams in the conference get boat raced last week. As a Notre Dame fan this is going to be a tough one and I really don’t know what to expect with Beck out for Georgia and the Irish losing Rylie Mills. To act like Notre Dame doesn’t belong on the same field as Georgia after talking 8 OTs to beat Tech and barely beating Kentucky or Florida is insane though
As a Georgia fan: The UF and Tech games are Rivalries (one on a neutral field) and Brent Key has a special hatred for UGA dude literally is up for the game every year even if they are a bottom feeder ACC team or barely making bowl games. They did beat Miami by two scores at home, and UF should have won had Lagway not gone down. Beck and Bobo make the offense one dimensional when they have man coverage plus Beck’s UCL was nagging him all year up until he got hurt. Kentucky always plays us tough in Lexington. Texas also has one of if not the best defense in the country and Georgia beat them twice once with Gunner leading them that second half. The best team ND has played all year was A&M and that was an early season game. Yes they lost to NIU and looked to have gotten better each game but let’s not sit here and say The SEC has sucked these playoffs when Tennessee was on the road in a game Ryan Day had to win to save his job. Texas handled Clemson, we’ll see what Georgia can do against ND so what if the team isn’t as good as their incredible 21 & 22 teams beating Texas twice and 2 other playoff contenders (Clemson and Tennessee) is something you can’t take away from. Will see what happens in the superdome but give UGA their flowers for the gauntlet schedule and winning the conference

ND needs to take notes from GTs offense, lotta read option and RPOs and misdirection. NDs defense can keep em in it if they tighten up against the run, our corners can play on an island against WRs, I’m not impressed with UGAs WR Corp, not like USC was. Gunnar Stockton won't be a significant problem for Notre Dame, Tyler Buchner who is literally a carbon copy of Stockton is running the Georgia scout team offense, the Irish defense will be ready for exactly what Stockton can do. It's gonna be a low scoring game.

I just want to point out that the playoffs should only be the winners and lovers of playoffs. Why? Because Georgia lost their qb in this extra game that other teams do not have to play. While beck was getting hurt, Notre Dame was just chilling. Teams like Ohio State get in and miss that extra game. It just does not make sense to reward teams with playoff spots without playing in conference championships. Georgia may pay the price for playing that game.
Beck has 28 TDs against 12 . . . count 'em . . . 12 INTs. That is NOT GOOD. He also had TWO picks erased by penalties against Texas in the SECCG. I just don't believe Stockton is going to be a downgrade. Worst case, he's about the same, but can RUN better. Georgia is NOT a QB centered football team. It's a DEFENSE centered football team. It should be a good game.

When you have George Pickens, Ladd McConkey, Brock Bowers, and James Cook as your skill players its a favorable situation for any QB. Not saying Bennett didn't do what he had to in order to win but UGA does not have anywhere near the skill guys they had those championship years. If the defense doesn't play significantly better than it has since week 1 against Clemson, the Dawgs are in trouble
Stetson Bennett was a great QB for Georgia. Acting like he was just a walk on or backup is stupid because in hindsight he proved he was much more capable. Time will tell about Stockton but i dont think he is ready for this game.

I barely saw any GA fans saying that FSU didn't belong in the playoffs last year. Remember, GA got wronged last year too, so we knew exactly how FSU fans were feeling. If the new rules had been in place, they would've had no choice but to put FSU in, hurt qb or not, because they were conference champs.

Anyway, I just couldn't help but chuckle when I read your comment because all I've heard from ND fans is how GA almost lost to GA Tech and how ND whooped GA Tech. And the whole time I'm thinking, the big rival games are always tough, especially when you have the amount of dislike that's between GA and GA Tech. And then when you take into account how aggressive GA Tech played against GA......like it was the only game they cared about winning all season lol (and it probably was lol). Plus, with how good Haynes King is, and the fact that King didn't play in the game against ND.....well it didn't seem so crazy to me that GA had a hard time with them or that ND easily won against their 2nd string qb. @Necile2

Jeremiah Love, the best player on the field for either team will make some big plays for ND.
He had 108 yards in the game against Indiana, 98 and then 95 for the team 4:23 the remainder of the game. ND rushed for 95 yards if you take out the 98 yards.
One 98 yard run, is a big play, not some. Only 95 team yards other than that. Including the “great running QB”

I am a die hard Notre Dame fan. I want so badly to see Notre Dame win this one. It changes the narrative about the program if they do. I just think Georgia scratches and claws their way to the finish line some way some how. I say Georgia wins 30-27.

There's absolutely no way Georgia is stopping all of Love, Price, Williams, AND Leonards running production. Also a lot of non ND people probably don't realize that ND has done what they've done while significantly limiting snaps for their key skill players all season long. RL rarely played an entire game this season, still set the all time season rushing TD record for a ND QB. And this ND defense is MEAN. They want violence. We haven't seen a ND team like this in decades. Georgia will have their hands full no matter what their delusional fans think.
