EARNED not “deserved”. These teams earned their spot. It’s as simple as that.

The expanded playoffs also kept lots of players from jumping ship before “meaningless” bowl games.

  • @jasonfarrell00
    @jasonfarrell00 11 годин тому +3

Honestly: more teams = less room to complain about who “deserves” to be there.
After the Indiana and SMU loss hearing that other teams should’ve been there instead is so dumb. They won the games they were supposed to and earned their spot. Quit complaining about Alabama or South Carolina, they LOST the games they should’ve won.
Extending the playoffs to 14-25 teams gets everyone to stfu about who deserves to be there or not. The winner will deserve it bc they will have won EVERY game they were supposed to and potentially games they were the underdog in.
I’m all for more teams ONLY because I want whoever is the best to BE the best. More football games (even if they’re blowouts) IS more fun, and we get to see the best of the best go at it. And if a 9-3 team is the BEST team in college football, we’ll know when it comes to playoffs. No more “weak schedule” crap, they’ll play the best teams when the time comes.
Same thing is done with the pros. The Super Bowl winner is RARELY ever undefeated, and if that’s what we expect we’re lying to ourselves. You’re going to have bad games. I want the best team to win. And regardless of if we have more or less teams the best team WILL win. Giving more teams the opportunity to show up won’t deter the best team in college football winning the national championship. Anyone who says otherwise is a joke

Ohio State changed up their defense after that last game against them. They have been one of the best defenses and haven't allowed a passing TD since then. They didn't bring any pressure last game and let Gabriel just stand in the pocket untouched. OSU's on a mission this post season.

JD I don’t think we have enough of a sample size yet to really understand. We see this in March Madness with the performance of certain teams. 16 who’s never been there agains #1 Duke gets throttled.
We should give this 5 years. 5 different seasons of ebb and flow, transfers, a full set of players that went from freshman to graduating. To then look at it and say “okay we have data now how do we make this better”

All of this is based on the idea that everyone wants the same thing. Fans want a playoff that leads to the bests teams on the field… the 12 team expansion was always about revenue for the networks! For the most part in a 12 team playoff, we’ll keep seeing the big schools getting in there. Every now and then you’ll see a cinderella make a run, but by and large, it’ll be the larger schools in the final four! It’s a LOT harder to put together 22 starters on offense and defense in football that can get you there (along with all the depth needed along the way) than it is to put together 5 starters plus depth in basketball for a Cinderella to make a run.
All that being said, I’m not against the 12 team… but it should be the BEST 12 CFP ranked teams regardless of conference… top 4 get a bye week… next 4 host a home game vs. the last 4… and then we move to bowl games to work towards crowning a national champion! Not sure why people are against this… it makes the most sense!

  • @MichaelCottle

The only reason we are talking about expanding to 16 is one reason. The butt hurt ESPN and the SEC. Let’s say it was 16 this year. You know who’s getting 3 of the 4 remaining slots. Alabama S. Carolina, and Ol Miss. Who gets the final spot? Why not Texas AnM. It’s BS. Here’s in idea SEC don’t lose 3 fing games to the likes of Vanderbilt and Kentucky. It’s year one. The little guys will get better unless you keep them out like you’re trying to do. Come on Notre Dame kick the shit outta Georgia and put the SEC out their misery.

I'm so tired of all these college football commentators dogging the playoff system this year??? It was absolutely perfect and it made the regular season more interesting. If the field wasn't expanded; we wouldn't even have Ohio State in the picture??? Blame SMU for dropping the ball against Clemson and allowing Clemson into the playoff which everyone knew was a joke but they earned the ACC title. Every league has to be allowed to have a chance and thank God we had a Boise State in the field because if not; we would have had Clemson with a first round bye???? This playoff has been amazing and I'm so glad they expanded FINALLY!! Arizona State won their league outright and they deserve a fighting chance like anyone else?? Having home field advantage is just as important or maybe even more important than getting the bye. I would imagine that at least half the teams who had home field advantage will win their games in the quarterfinals so can you JERKS please shut up and let the games be played and not ruin what we have been begging for the past 40 years?? The seeding doesn't need to be changed and the higher seeded teams with home field advantage proved they are the better teams SO WHAT??? Oregon drew an Ohio State team that just loss to Michigan but hear you are claiming that Oregon got a bad draw??? Oregon has already beat Ohio State and Penn State so why would Oregon be upset with drawing Ohio State???? For the love of God enjoy the process that we have been dying for all these years when we saw teams like Boise get left out of the process??? That being said,,,,I like Penn State vs Ohio state in the final and thank God for the playoff u bunch of whiny jerks and that's coming from an SEC Homer. Let's be honest though,,,South Carolina is the team that should have the biggest claim to being left out???

Using Cincinnati as an example of opportunity is wrong. They were the first warning of the problems we see right now, but magnified.
There is NO WORLD where Cincinnati had a prayer against the big teams, its a waste of a game, and potentially getting these kids injured.
This madness of pretending wins outside a select few teams mattering is killing this sport. maybe half the big 10 and about half the SEC and a few other select teams are so far above and beyond the majority of teams in NCAA football its absurd!

  • @raphaelimpellizzeri7063
    @raphaelimpellizzeri7063 25 хвилин тому

The playoffs should be an extension of the regular season. This is why every D1 school in a conference should have a seat at the table. Games should be played at home stadiums of the higher ranked school until you reach the semifinals or finals. At most 16 schools, best would be 8 schools. No byes, seeding should be regional whether north vs south or east vs west that could change year to year, with no more than 2 schools from any conference using the championship game as a play in first round game. Champions advanced and a school that didn't make the game gets a shoot at the playoffs as an at large if the SOS is good enough. This can be done by using coefficients from conference strength to rank schools. SOS is based on non-conference W/L factoring in the coefficient based on strength of conference. Coefficients would be based on a decade average W/L of schools vs non-conference. Non-conference is D1 vs D1 games not playing cupcakes from lower divisions as your bounce is based on the W/L of the school you play in the previous year. A system similar to this is used in soccer to judge the best leagues in the world that only play each other in confederations championships.

I say we do what the FCS does. I don't care about blowouts. I want more playoff football.
December should be madness. Move the start of the season up one week, move the Army/Navy game to be the kickoff classic in Week 0, and eliminate Conference Championship games.
    Round 1: December 7th
    #24 Memphis (10-2) @ #9 Indiana (11-1)
    #23 Colorado (9-3) @ #10 Boise State (11-1)

    #18 BYU (10-2) @ #15 Arizona State (10-2)
    #17 Clemson (9-3) @ #16 Iowa State (10-2)
    Round 2: December 14th
    #23 Colorado (10-3) @ #1 Oregon (12-0)
    #21 Illinois (10-3) @ #2 Texas (11-1)
    #17 Clemson (10-3) @ #3 Penn State (11-1)

    #13 Ole Miss (10-3) @ #6 Ohio State (10-2)
    #11 Alabama (10-3) @ #7 Tennessee (10-2)
    #9 Indiana (12-1) @ #8 SMU (11-1)
    Quarterfinals: December 21st
    #14 South Carolina (11-3) @ #1 Oregon (13-0)
    #11 Alabama (11-3) @ #2 Texas (12-1)
    #9 Indiana (13-1) @ #3 Penn State (12-1)
    #6 Ohio State (11-2) @ #4 Notre Dame (12-1)
    Semifinals: December 28th (rotating bowls)
#6 Ohio State (12-2) vs. #1 Oregon (14-0) in Rose Bowl
#3 Penn State (13-1) vs. 2 Texas (13-1) in Cotton Bowl
NY6 on New Year's Day (losers of quarterfinals and top 4 losers in second round)

If this year was a 4 team playoff it would be an absolute mess. Oregon gets in but how do you decide 2-4? Does Georgia get in with 2 losses and an SECC? What about Ohio state? 2 losses without playing in conference title? Penn state? Ehhh. Or does Indiana get in bc they only lost 1 game… to Ohio state? ND even though they lost to NIU? I have no idea how you would even pick the 2-4 teams.

That's probably the best argument against the guys whining. I don't know how this guy doesn't see how the playoffs is so much better than what we had. And we finally get to see Boise State in a big game that MATTERS. IM so tired of all these commentators complaining about the seeding yet they all think that Oregon, the supposed best team, got a raw deal??? Ohio State just loss and isn't nearly as hot a team as say Arizona State. If we picked 4 teams this year,,,I guess it would be Texas, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State???

The BCS had blowouts. I'm fine with the first round allowing the also-rans to get their shot. That way we don't get the UCF nonsense again. Home field playoff games are fun and the environments were all hopping. Also the BCS and 4 team playoff era was absolute trash for the bowls with the ACE Hardware (Who cares?) Bowl having some kind of parity with real bowls like the Rose and Sugar. Now the traditional bowls are 2nd and 3rd round playoff games that matter, and I like it that way.
