The only special effects that didn't return were the lasers, fog machines an fiber optic starfield surrounding the screen. The other effects were brought back (the in-theatre lights during certain scenes). Epcot did a good job bringing this close to how it used to be.
I hope they keep this ride open at Epcot, so it becomes a permanent attraction. I love this show! Maybe if they keep it open, they'll change the 3-D Glasses to PURPLE glasses, and bring back some of the old special effects that there were in 1986!
The theatre is on a moving platform that was installed when Honey I Shrunk the Audience played in that theatre, they reprogrammed it when they brought Captain EO back.
Nostalgia - went to Epcot & Tomorrowland during the early 90's for the ride, enjoyed it every time - even got a Fuzzball of my own... until my dog destroyed it ;_; I was so heartbroken.
I got to see this back in 1995 at Disneyland. So there is no way that the show closed at Disneyland in 1994- it actually closed there in 1997, making it the longest running production of the show at any of the Disney parks (1986-1997). However, it did close at Epcot in 1994 which means that it was missing at Epcot the longest (16 years long). Either way, it is still a great show. It would have been real nice to see all the laser and fog effects again along with the bouncing seats and platform, but they probably thought it would save them money to not include all of the original effects and re-rig the effects from Honey, I Shrunk the Audience.
Same but at Disneyland & Epcot they're yellow (leftovers from Honey I Shrunk the Audience). At Tokyo Disneyland they still use the original purple glasses.
I'm sorry guys, this movie is not that good. It's REEEEALY cheesy and the jokes don't touch done really well. Certainly my least favorite attraction on Epcot
