When you don't adjust your tiller and timing this will happen. Not the bows fault. Just operator error.

"Not supposed to shoot that much with a bowfishing bow...."
Okay, well that's a new one for me. However it's a load of crap. I've shot lever bows for entire weekends over the last 15 years or so, and I've never, EVER had a catastrophic failure while using any of them. Whether it be out on the water or on the range.
Now, here's where I think you might have had an issue, and it could be a couple things... 1) My first thoughts: I think you may have had some faulty cables brotha! I say this because I've seen RPMs last a decent amount of time before needing a cable swap or having one give. This just shouldn't have happened. Also, the design of the RPM cams and power system is nearly identical to an Oneida, so much so in fact the the RPM cams are literally DIRECT copies of the wildly popular and highly desired Oneida K-cams. The ONLY difference is that the RPM cams have a skeletonization cutout point in them. Although in terms of the cam profile, cable tracks, and overall intended operation the two are functionally identical. The rest of the bows mechanical properties are also essentially functionally the same. Only true difference is placement of what Oneida originally termed the "power cable" and where it lays. The power cable on the RPM sits in a slot milled into the limb mounted draw stop, while the modern Oneida design places their power cable over the power limb and through the limb hinges. Anyway, moving on... possibility 2) The bow was not set up correctly. Your timing or tiller adjustment could have been off. This can affect the manner in which the cams actuate, and if they do not move in perfect synchronization at all times you'll place uneven stress on a number of parts, but most relevant in this case your cables. This could have led to an early catastrophic failure, especially if your cables were in any way faulty. Finally, number 3) Your cables could have not been cut properly, and one of your two power cables or one of your two yoke cables could have been just a cunt hair too long or too short. This is that same issue of your cams not moving in synchronized fashion like I mentioned before. This could easily cause a failure like that. If it wasn't these cables, then your timing cable could have been not tightened into place properly causing it to loosen. This would lead to a cam timing/synchronization problem and result in a failure. On an Oneida, the timing cable is secured in place with a little machined aluminum component that if turned with a flathead screwdriver applies more or less tension on your timing cable. This component is part of your upper timing wheel assembly, and once you get your timing cable tension to the setting desired, you then torque down a little set screw that then keeps the component from turning in either direction or popping out of the timing wheel assembly. On RPM bows, the Gen 1 Nitro uses this identical setup for the timing wheel/cable assembly. The Gen 2 version Nitros utilize a system that is somewhat different and I am not all that familiar with it to be honest; however I *believe* they use a two part timing cable.
Ultimately, RPMs can be great bows (especially for the money!) If you know how to handle them. What I mean by this is what to change on them right away lol. Personally, I would do quite a bit but probably not for the reasons you would think. However if I were in your shoes or someone elses looking to get a neat lever bow without the Oneida price tag, one thing I would do is immediately change the cables. I would order a custom set of cables from the Greenwells (G-String Bowstrings.com) to ensure both material quality and proper size/length. Plus, you can get them in custom colors :). I'd do this before I ever released a single arrow. I'd probably hold on to the old ones for emergency repair purposes, should they ever come up. I'd probably order a custom string as well from them, or a string from BA Bowstrings. I'd also do a full setup and tuning. No cheating! Lol. Do this, and you'll have a great little bow for the money. Don't want to deal with the hassle of cams and timing wheels? Check out the RPM Striker. It RPMs camless lever bow akin to the Oneida Discovery or Firebrand Colorado. Again, great little bow for the money!

Thanks for the video. Think I'll just keep my eyes open for an older oneida.

I have the RPM Nitro XX and i've had the timing cable fail twice and the power cables slide off the hinge. The first time this happened, I thought maybe it was an isolated incident. I initially contacted RPM about my issue but they did not respond - poor customer service. It was the retailer I bought it from who took care of me - they sent it to RPM to get fixed. It shot fine for about a week after I got it back, but then the timing cable slipped off the cam wheels again! I did not even adjust or play with the bow's weight, draw length, etc when I got it back from the retailer. I really wanted to like this bow, but it has terrible reliability which makes it unenjoyable to shoot. I thought about finding aftermarket/better cables, but RPM has put such a bad taste in my mouth, I don't want to waste my time. You shouldn't have to worry about your equipment failing when you're out bowfishing.
On a side note, my friend and I have the RPM M1-X reel and 2 nights ago, his handle came off when trying to reel in a carp and he lost both the handle and fish! I worry my reel will fail so I'm just going to get the Megamouth reel.

I find this very interesting. I’ve owned one for serval years. Had one issue with it. They went outa there way to make sure I was taken care… you must have called the wrong number because they were on top of it ready to fix my bow. I would agree with the reel not much to be desired about it. Mega mouth is the best one out there by far.

Man I’m not sure what to tell you I’ve used and abused mine... stays on the boat thousands of shots through it and only replaced the string. The excuse of “it’s a bowfishing bow” is not relevant bc I’ve put more rounds through my rpm than I have my compound for sure. I will say the Oneida bows are smoother but I have had great luck out of my RPM. Don’t give up on it!

I'd take it off your hands, I got an old oneida strike eagle for a trade. Haha
