Love the way these tubs are coming out. Looks factory on the inside, plenty of room nest to the fender. Heck, if it wasn't a drag car you could still squeeze in a back seat for people who are real friendly.

I simply could not see how you ever be able to build and fit the outer section with the inner in place. Yet again, you demonstrated, step by step, how it's done. Amazing. It seems simple when we see you do it, and that's a testament to your skill and knowledge. I enjoy your videos very much.

Loved the beached whale remark. I resemble that remark as well. I told my wife that the day I can't get up off the floor, that will be a retirement day. The wheel well came out like factory made. You are right about giving yourself the most amount of room for the tire. Great tips!

Hi Tony. Making a complex panel from several smaller pieces looks like the way to go. I don't think you could get bends for the lips unless you had a massive stamping press like they would use at the factory. I don't see any problem with using a template either. It's just a tool. If someone doesn't like it, they can use some other method. Way easier to cut posterboard than metal. Cheaper too!

That sure is a complicatedly shaped wheel tub, made with multiple pieces of sheet metal using templates. Nice instructional video showing how it's all done.

I work on thin modern cars a quick tip for seam sealing, ms polymer sealants allow more movement so is less likely to show through the panels. Anti flutter sealant moves even more than ms sealant. Thanks for the content Fitzee !

Toyota only Wishes they had wheel wells built that spacious and Sturdy! Those welded corners are much stronger than rolled sheet Tubs. Beautiful "Templating"!

Looks like your big freeze might be just about over, with the heat indicator (Peanut) testing the temperature of the driveway. Here in Queensland Australia, the weather has cooled down a bit from our blazing hot summer, but we've had 27 days of rain so far in March out of 30, ranging from 0.5mm (2 points) to 42mm (1 5/8") on each day. The place is like a swamp!! Makes it hard to get much done outside.
I'm getting ready to do the same thing, Fitz. You gave me another avenue to go. I'm going to do mine when I replace my 1/4 panels and open my wheel openings. My tubs are 40 inches.
Nice Tony!!!! On my Shoebox Ford I noticed that there were dimples along the rear quarter panel. It was where the trunk floor was attached to the outside skin. I plan to do something different when I go back. Also like the wheel tubs, they are turning out nice!!

Thanks for giving an explanation of the small gap between the outside of the wheel tub and the inside of the quarter panel. As you said, it was looking like it would become an inaccessible spot. I was wondering how you would keep it protected from rust and not have two panels rubbing against each other.

I remember way back in other videos that you said that you don't make templates. Things have changed. This is one job that you could not do without templates! It does depend on the job though, some jobs you don't need templates, other jobs, they are essential.
I used 3/8” rod and made it a 5/8 circle the same size as the wheel opening to weld to the wheel opening and inner wheel well to give it strength and it doesn’t take up a ton of room for tire clearance
We all knew you would give us a master class Tony, but when you played the template card you just weaved pieces of scrap steel into gold👏

Great job! From my perspective, it looks like you will have a sharp edge on the outer side of your tire on the inner wheel well.
Yes and I will be cutting that back and dressing that edge.

It's interesting that you wear ear muffs when welding. Personally, I prefer to hear the weld, as it helps me control the weld better.
I do that as I got hot sparks in my ears and it never good.
@@fitzeesfabrications I only ever had that happen once and I think I was under a car at the time. Never had it happen since.
