Aaron, I think those were Sennets-in the barracuda family. I see them from time to time here in SE Fl in 30-75'. Keep doing what you're doing. Your demeanor and stewardship are second to none. Thank you for doing it right.

    You said:
“I like learning things, and I like sharing what I’ve learned.”

I’ve been making UA-cam videos that definitely follow your line on “UA-cam is show reel” . After watching your channel for the last 3 weeks I’ve decided to do a video that is more like your style. Commentary explaining what’s going on and not over hyping it.

I was getting beat up with your videos on my opening page, so I finally checked you out a couple of weeks ago. I'm now probably 15 or 20 videos into your channel and I'm loving it. I might not ever get to Key West and I'm pretty sure I'll never free dive, but I'm loving what you're sharing. Your laid back demeanor pretty much mirrors how I like to live. I always enjoy the content of fishing/diving and spearfishing. You definitely have taught me that if you take your time and control the fish asap, you can avoid getting wrapped up in the line and gun. I've seen people use the Hawaiian sling and it seems pretty easy. Not sure if I would be better with the gun or the sling. Takes practice to do what you do with proficiency. I commend you and your teaching. I'm impressed with how many fish that were shot this episode. Thanks again for another great video.

He’s leaving the gun floating or the string separated and he’s going right for the fish as soon as he’s shoots it that’s very cool. I see a lot in both of them like your doing things. That’s got to be pretty cool to see them doing things the way you do them. Just didn’t know if you had noticed that yet or not.

Not sure if you do anything like this or not, just an idea to consider. You could always bring your camera and offer for an extra fee to turn over the video to the clients. I am sure many would love to have third person footage of their dives. SD cards are so cheap now that you could buy a few and ask before the dive if they would like to purchase the videos. If they want to you just charge the fee and hand over the card unedited. That way if they are not interested you dont have to wear the camera. Purchase smaller size cards as you dont need large ones for single day trips and add the cost of the cards into the fee. Profit and let someones possibly magic moments live on for the friends and family to experience.

Pacific barracuda in the Keys? That's crazy. I know there are more than one species in Florida but I think they all look very similar. Hopefully you can catch or shoot one of those for an identification. There are cobia and tarpon around the Pacific side of Panama now. The tarpon went through the canal and the cobia supposedly escaped from pens where they were being farmed for some reason. They probably have Atlantic snook too from the canal. But I doubt cudas crossed over that way to the Caribbean side. Interesting.

"They" have always told us that pacific/Atlantic fish/critters can't tolerate the salinity difference between the Pacific/Atlantic & therefore the Panama Canal poses no ecological dangers... LOL remember your grandparents' obsession with margarine? stuff's poison!

@@JeffreyDRein snook and tarpon can live in salt or freshwater, they definitely can survive the canal and either side. I know Costa Rican guys on the Pacific side near the border with Panama who have seen tarpon and some have been hooked. They're not common but they're around. I wouldn't be surprised if Pacific black and sword spine snook have crossed to the Caribbean and Atlantic species like common and fat snook are on the Pacific side now from the canal. But I would be surprised if cudas made it through. They're not caught in the brackish and freshwater in Florida so I don't think they would cross the canal.
Oh and you're right about the fake butter stuff, and veggie oils in general that aren't cold pressed.

Wouldn't be a pacific barracuda, but the sphyraena genus has tons of species it could be.
My guess is northern sennet, S. borealis
