Hi mate unbelievably I was on that same peg today punching out 69m to that small maker tree in the field like you ........ Great venue just like a small loch ken
Hi Paul, nice video that I would like to ask a few questions about. When casting those distances with heavy feeders do you prefer to cast the line off the back of your finger or trapped between finger and spool? What brand of braid was you using because i would think it would need to be fast sinking and not prone to wind knots for those distances and what shock leader knots do you recommend for tying braid to mono?
I can see you've had to wait 3 months for this reply Don but here goes! Chappy is correct I use Matrix Braid 0.010 along with a shock leader of 8lb Maxima, when casting I trap the leader between my fore finger and the spool, I've never suffered wind knots (not been able to work out how that's done) lol. I've tried a few knots in the past for attaching braid (and I've fished braid for 20yrs) but have now settled on what I think is the best (and travels through the rings easiest) and that is to form quite a large double overhand loop in the braid of around 3" long then attach the leader with a simple 5 turn blood knot (not the tucked blood knot) pull tight and trim down very close, this way of attaching the leader has never come undone or let me down in anyway and as I said earlier travels through the rings with ease. Thanks for watching the video, Paul.
