Excellent video Disappointed you are not using a push stick Not using a push stick only allows you to make one mistake It would really upset your family if you were to have an accident Make a new years resolution and stay safe
My senior high woodshop teacher was missing his middle 3 fingers on his right hand from a table saw accident. But he could sure fling a chalkboard eraser across the shop with his thumb and pinky if you were screwing around........ Please, all it takes is a momentary loss of attention or a crazy knot in the wood and you WILL lose those fingers. With a push stick you may lose the wood, but there is plenty more of that.

I was horrified, no splitter and no push stick, your very good, talented but I think given the number of comments they have not made you rethink. If you loose fingers then maybe you will rethink it. I know 4 carpenters who have missing fingers, I just want you to stay safe. Thanks for the video.
I'm so glad I watched your video. I'm about to start my steady rest and was planning on using a bandsaw for both cuts and then just gluing up. Using my router jig is going to be so much quicker! Thanks!!!
Great design, good video. Been gathering info on doing a steady rest and picked up a couple nice tips. I subscribed to your channel to see what other intersting stuff you might put out and learn of the time you loose a finger or fingers. I'm not the safety police but I've been working with tablesaws for 50+ years and if you do not respect that machine ....it will bite you! A mishap occurss in milleseconds .....you should really give heed to the some of the others who are concerned about your safety practices ......remember, others are watching you and they might think they can use a table saw the way you do when in all reality they might not have the skills you do so you have a responsibility to practice basic safety techniques. Hope you don't take this wrong, I'm not trying to be a jerk or show any disrespect to you and your work..... just concerned for your safety and the safety of others who watch your work! Thanks again for a good project!

As one mentioned earlier, why two arms are on one side and the third one is on the other side of the ring. That will cause the plane of support not to be perpendicular with the axle of rotation, but tilted a bit, and I am not sure if there is a reason to have it like that.
It's been a while but I think I did it that way so if I if had something really thin I could drop the top down without hitting the other wheels. Good point though! Also I probably should have done it your way bc I don't think I'll ever be turning something that small.
I got them off amazon, but I don't think they have these anymore. This was the amazon listing title though "Cyko Roller Hockey Wheels Skate 76mm Soft Venom Extra BITE 4-Pack". I would look for a cheap soft roller blade wheel considering they're all pretty much the same. The 4 pack I used in the video was $23.18. Some come with bearings too which might make it easier.

Nice project you made. Leaving/storing the chuck key in the chuck is a big no no. I would stop that practice immediately.

Just checking in, are you using a push stick yet?
Why are the arms on opposing sides of the ring? Two on the back side and the third on the front side but all wheels facing the same way?
I think I did it that way to be able to turn thin dowels but now looking back it wasn't very practical.

Please rethink your technique. Use a push stick with stock that narrow. Especially without a splitter.

What are the overall dimensions of the inner and/or outer ring diameters?
The inner diameter is 16 1/4" and the outer is 20 1/8"
