ABOUT SUPERSTORE
America Ferrera and Ben Feldman star in the hilarious workplace comedy "Superstore," about a unique family of employees at a supersized megastore. "Superstore" centers around Amy (Ferrera), who recently was promoted to be the store manager and is the glue holding the place together, and Jonah (Feldman), a dreamer determined to prove work doesn't have to be boring. Their fellow associates include the sardonic Garrett (Colton Dunn), the sweet and clueless Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom), and the perpetually dismissed Sandra (Kaliko Kauahi). Also on the team are Glenn (Mark McKinney), who stepped down as manager in an attempt to have more family time, and Dina (Lauren Ash), the aggressive assistant manager who enforces Cloud 9 policy with an iron fist. Mateo (Nico Santos) was also part of the team, most recently as the self-promoted floor supervisor, until being detained due to his undocumented status.

one of the reasons I really liked this show was how REAL the cast was. None of them looked like supermodels or typical hollywood people. I'm getting sick of all the shows that have extremely good looking people casted for every role, hopefully, we will see this trend with more shows!

I love shows like this (other examples: Parks and Rec, Abbott Elementary, etc) cause of how realistic it is. They’re not afraid to tackle uncomfortable topics, they hire great actors that actually fit the characters, and they show how ridiculous customers/clients can be in these industries

Lauren Ash was the best hands down.
I felt in the first seasons that the writers were trying too hard to make her a Dwight Shrute but eventually developped in her own character.
OMG SAMEEE. Ughh when I first started the show and she talked about animals and birds I was like nuh uh. That's dwight hands down! But then finally she did get her own personality I'm so gladd. Otherwise I was almost going to drop the show

Jesus, I thought I was the only one who thought that. Also, there are some episodes where they try to make Gleen a Michael Scott, like the episode where he says Amy is mexican, she answers: "Honduran, actually" and he replies: "Sorry, I don't speak spanish". Also, at the beginning I thought Garret was sort of a Jim Halpert.

My favorite part from the show was when a drugged Glenn unexpectedly told Jonah to "shut the f**k up" in the Black Friday episode. It completely caught me off guard and I bursted out laughing.

I just rewatched the show, and there are a bunch of moments I overlooked the first time around relating to this. She mentions it on and off for several seasons, including thinking he's hitting on her at one point.

I don't know but I feel Kaliko Kauahi was meant to play Sandra. She's one of my favorites aside from Bo and Justine.
A great personality quirk of hers that's been absent for a couple of seasons is how she's such an easy, elaborate liar - a fantasist, really. I remember when she concocted a whole romance out of thin air about herself and Jeff - at the spur of the moment just going on-and-on about what a wonderful love life they had together.

Did you not see her when she was younger? She definitely looks like she has aged. She also wore more makeup as the show went on and those bags under her eyes are a dead giveaway.
I met Mark McKinney at a fan Expo once and told him that Glenn was one of my favorite characters, and told me to 'Have a Heavenly Day', it was awesome!

wow! Lauren Ash's audition is unreal! She was completely that character and totally at ease
Glenn is such a great character. Personally, cancelling the show was a major mistake for NBC. The show was good without Amy.

By the time we cut the cord, the office was still putting out episodes. This is the only show from The Big Three that I have watched since then.
Disagree. Went downhill. And including the plandemic masks into the show ruined several of the jokes and punchlines due to overdubbing most of it. It lost its spark. The finale was great though.

i love how they really integrated the actor’s cultural backgrounds and tied them more to the characters after.
mateo’s original name i guess was Mateo Hernandez which is more spanish-sounding, but his character’s final name is so much more Filipino i love it!! also how sandra was still given a polynesian last name even in the show 💗
Mateo's real name.is Nico Sanchez, he is from Manila
A lot of Filipinos have Spanish last names as they were colonized by the Spanish
So Filipinos and latinos are hermanos

@@STRANGERINMOSCOW1 they are on about the what they would of originally called mateos character in the show but they changed it to a more filipino name to bring the actors cultural background. As it was meant to be a more hispanic character hence Mateo Hernandez but the actor didnt have hispanic heritage but i assume he had filipino so they changed it to Mateo Liwanag.
I remember the first time I found Superstore, and absolutely loving it, finding it very entertaining and funny

Facts
Lauren Ash plays the absolute best character. She's just something else. She has it all. Charisma, timing, humor, pure beauty, real refreshing chutzpah, very honest and fair. What else can you ask for in a character?

My wife and I just binged the entire show. It was such a breathe of fresh air. The cast and the writing was perfect. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
Lol, NBC letting out EVERYTHING now that tomorrow is the finale. We're gonna have a ton of content after the show ends too (hopefully). I want more blooper reels, BTS about the set, vlogs, director and writer commentary, creative BTS stuff, storyboards...give it to me. ALL of it. I also want those Superstore Hydroflask mugs the staff sometimes have in the breakroom (the NBC store doesn't sell it).
As a Filipino I am so proud of Mateo. I'm gonna miss this show.

So despite KNOWING this was an audition and knowing the scene , I still thought the actress playing Cheyenne was legitimately freaking out for a sec at the beginning there.

I don't think they will. I remember reading that America Ferrera was going to leave the show in season 6, so they probably decided to just overall cancel the show.
I think it was a producer call to wrap up the story & show with S6.
B99 did have an ending with their S5 ending, but it was open ended enough to continue (with producers wanting to continue)
@@thatdomguy2857 yeah but before the show was ending we had news of America ferrera leaving the series in s6. So I’m thinking maybe the producers decided to just end the series this season.
I’m definitely going to miss this show. I don’t say that about many series either.

Great show. Definitely one of my favs! Also like how they touch on sensitive topics while focusing on the importance of respect, acceptance and doing the right thing when possible. Right being what’s in the best interest of those affected.

@@CharsPailmVEVO are you sure that they didn't audition? Cos there are many other well known actors that could've gotten the roles. I don't think that that's how it works.
usually they get offered the roles and do screen tests but i don’t think they audition

@@fundo3027 sometimes they still have to audition, sometimes they don't! Depends on their level of connections usually. Like if a director or producer already worked with someone and they liked working with them and can see them in that role then they wouldn't have to audition. There are also writers who deliberately write characters for certain actors and so they wouldn't have to audition in those circumstances either.
This is one of THE funniest shows of all time. The writing, directing and acting was SUPERB. I just watched the last season this week and DAMN... I feel rudderless.
Superstore 'filled the hole' in my life that was created when Community ended. I enjoyed both immensely.

That was excellent -- especially Dina, Garrett and Cheyenne. I saw the series finale last night -- IDK that Amy deserved the happy ending but it was still a very satisfying wrap-up.

What they have managed to do with Mateo’s character is beautiful…no other show has showed such complexity and care when writing about the undocumented experience. I love that he’s flawed and a bit annoying, he makes mistakes, he’s hard working, ambitions and above all just simply existing. They don’t make his character all about immigration and yet manage to sew it in into the major aspects of his life. The research they did for this character really paid off
This show was so therapeutic to me, made me laugh. Always thought it be around. Good cast, good flow, adapted to times well. So sad it’s gone.

you’re actually right! jonah mentioned that he was 28 in the first season, i guess they changed his age when ben was cast (who was around 35 at the time).

This is one of my favorite shows 🥺 I started watching in 2017 and got so many people hooked on it when I told them to try it out. Seriously the best cast. I literally have this on every day and fall asleep watching. Just so comforting and therapeutic to me 🖤🖤

This show helped me through so much in my life. I found it on hulu when I was going through a breakup. I can't believe that it's over...
Dina is such a good casting.
The funniest part of the show was when Marcus's knee was infected and he told everyone it couldn't be because he puts it in the hot tub every night cause everyone know chlorine disinfects wounds. I laughed so hard
The fact this show is ending so unceremoniously makes me so mad. It's bad enough the show never got the credit it deserves. I don't understand how it wasn't more popular cause it's so good, then again I didn't start watching it until like season 3 because I had never even heard of it. It's a shame because it really felt like they were building all these stories like with Jonah and Amy dating, carols settlement, and then when Ferrera decided she was leaving they just decided to give up. Now we're stuck with what feels like an incredibly rushed unplanned ending to a show that deserves so much better. I hope we at least get a spinoff but I'm not counting on it.

Really? Because to me it just shows how little the writers and casting directors value hiring disabled people. I wish they had chosen someone actually in a wheelchair.
@@puppiesandcandy7 dude it's called acting. Actors pretend to be other people. Besides some disabled people may have auditioned and fit the role physically but they weren't fit for the acting role.

@@puppiesandcandy7 Colton ctually auditioned alongside disabled actors in wheelchairs. They chose him. Apparently they didn't want to focus on Garret's disability but more of his personality. I can see why it's a controversial decision tho
