Annie Lennox is an icon and legend - a true artist. Every vocal you heard on this track was her. She does most of the vocals, lead and background, in all her music This wasn’t 80s. She won the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy for this song in 1996.
Seen this comment about the song elsewhere and its so true " A wise man once said...when you are happy, you enjoy the melody but when you are broken, you understand the lyrics"...amazing song.
No offense to Jon but this is definitely a case of a big difference in emotional awareness. I think Dolly could sense that there is a great sadness to this song. The lyrics and video are very abstract but she definitely sensed that vibe. She also sensed that Jon didn't pick up on it and didn't want to ruin his good mood cuz it's sad. Just unfortunate that I felt like she didn't react fully because of that.
you can really sense the loneliness there, the characters in the bar who could relate to annie singing about demons in her room at night, knowing what it is to be alone and believing no one you fancied would ever find you remotely attractive, same people who laughed with abandon at the end at the absurdity of all romantic love.
@@craigdunn3769 some people take multiple views for the message to sink in, though. not because they are unintelligent or emotionally undeveloped, but because they tend to bounce back and react instantly instead of absorbing. the reference of annie lennox's "no more i love you's" videos (she has a different interpretation of the song vs. the original by the lover speaks) are the troubled artists and other habitues of paris' red light district. they could have been painted by the impressionists and expressionists and the atmosphere is seedy, as if everyone was drunk on absinthe and the very furniture could give you syphilis. also, many videos from the 90s are introspective and say much more than videos today which are sadly often schlock compared to the old ones.
Nobody ever reacts to Annies song 'thorn in my side' which is a great song to get up and dance too, i am a guy and would be one of them that would sit and watch everyone else dance...then thorn in my side would play and it gives you no choice but to get off yer arse and onto yer feet.
Interesting that this is a cover of a song recorded in 1986 by a British Synth band that sank without trace when first released Have heard the original which had a plodding Soft Cell like production. You would never guess it could be turned into something special like this version. Whoever produced and arranged this for Annie is a genius and that’s before we get to Annie’s voice and this brilliant video with the song.
Annie is a legendary female vocalist and she fully deserves all the world wide accolades she receives for her amazing versatility. Please guys, if you haven't done so already, you really should check out her song 'Why'. It's another stunner. 🙋♂ 🙋♂
One of the most noticeable aspects of a woman's looks for me... Are her eyes... If you're a woman with beautiful eyes... I'm instantly drawn to them... Annie Lennox has the most gorgeous Green eyes... Similar to the Scottish Singer and Actress Sheena Easton with her gorgeous Blue eyes...... Although they're a slightly different colour... Their eyes are stunning.
You have to realize there is no auto tune, here, her voice is gorgeous and I encourage you to listen to this with audio only, you were too distracted by the video
Av always wonder if this was her only time using scots slang? Not sure.. 'yous' is plural..ie everyone i suppose..i dunno if she is using scots slang here..but i believe she might be.. (shes scottish just incase no one knows) interesting song..i do think that use of the word yous is plural... Makes sense
New to your channel but couldn't even make it halfway through the video. Dude, do you always come off at 120%, and is it because you are insecure with yourself or your feelings that you have to laugh at everything? Don't be that guy, because you're just trying too hard. You can be upbeat without being manic. Different songs call for different feelings and emotions, you can't react to everything the same way. I'm not familiar with your channel, so this is just general advice . Were you paying ANY attention to the artistry of the video or listening to any of the lyrics? What are you, 14 yrs old? Just some tough love suggestions, and only my opinion because as I said I don't watch your channel, but decided to watch it because of the song. I will just consider this a swing and a miss, but if this is how you do all of your reactions, maybe do some self reflection . It could increase your views.
I’m not sure what he’s thinking. Does he want to do a podcast? Why do music reactions if you seem to know little about music, you don’t listen to the music, and you talk incessantly?! Yes, it is tough love, but he’s very young. Better to be told now than to humor him. Maybe find another gig, “dude”.
I love Annie Lennox - but this is a poor cover of a great song by the little-known band The Lover Speaks. Annie heard this song nightly when TLS supported the Eurythmics on tour - she must have thought she knew the lyrics through osmosis but she had clearly misheard as some of the song’s most beautifully poetic lines are messed up in this cover, to the extent that they no longer make sense. If you can find it, check out the incredible original.
A poor cover ??? Really !!! Both versions are good … music is a personal choice so there is need to be so dismissive…Annie’s version is just as good as the original

Lady GaGa wishes she was the Annie Lennox of the 2000's.
To be fair, Lady Gaga has definitely made her mark and surpassed what we ever thought possible or expected from Poker Face.

Think it went over both their heads don’t they could get past the stunning visuals in the video.
Dude stop talking so much
Annie Lennox! And I am here for it! She is incredible!
No more i love yous is my favorite song,,,ethereal,,,out of this world, deep,,,
Amazing voice.... beautiful eyes 😍

This was produced in the 90s.
This is actually an incredibly freaking sad song

Masterpiece ❤
the one and only ANNIE LENNOX ! music legend !

Love love love this song
She had such a beautiful and heartfelt reaction. She was listening so intently and passionately.
You have to realize there is no auto tune, here, her voice is gorgeous and I encourage you to listen to this with audio only, you were too distracted by the video
Another great Scottish singer song writer
Beautiful face and voice!
My favorite Annie Lennox song is "Walking on Broken Glass", but you HAVE to react to the video.
When songs on the charts had true meaning. And great strong women.
This is a fantastic cover…..the original by The Lover Speaks…is also very good
I do love the original, too. I can understand why she wanted to cover it. This guy talks way too much, just FYI.
Great reaction 🎉❤
You're a decade off, sir. This was produced in the 90's.
🙄🙄🙄
Lady Gaga of the 80s was a perfect description of Annie.
This song was written about somebody with Dementia, Maybe Jon was the wrong person to react.
Disturbed Stupify should be on your list
Early 90s. The album MEDUSSA. Her second after Eurythmics separation. 😊
The 90s were bliss..were great and Post 2010 it stinks

Yes, it was originally written as “yous”. And it’s not a funny song, quite sad.
Why are you critiquing the video and not listening to the song? C'mon. Make the effort.
Agree 100%. He thinks it’s a joke? Moreover, he’s running at the mouth.
Good
the song is about a old painting
?? What one, and how do you know this?
God , you talk A LOT

Like the song but the reaction was weird. I don't get why it was funny.
It wasn’t funny. It’s a very sad song. There’s absolutely nothing to laugh at with a reaction.
Typical annie..so far ahead of the times it still shocks one now 😊
Annie has been around for decades compared to Gaga

Annie Lennox ALTERED the lyrics to convey her message.
She did not mishear anything.

@@Reba-123 I mean, it’s only a different opinion, calm down please. I respect your own feelings upon this and I’m glad you enjoy the song.
@@kieronball8962 I’m afraid not. Annie has spoken many times about how she got the words wrong.
It's her version and she owns it..😊
She is dead
