    Pretty cool i am a retired Woodworker who has had very little metal working or welding experience personally for some unknown reason ive found watching videos of you guys fabricating fascinating and therapeutic to watch more specifically machining on the lathe ? I suffered a major stroke years ago and i no longer have the ability to use my hands as i once did throughout my life making furniture and doing wooden boat restorations and repairs i actually do have very good freinds that own and operate a machine shop and i get the chance to stop by and see things operating in the shop ! Of course i will also give them a helping hand moving or reorganizing if they need the help in order to learn more they of course have utilized modern machinery for production Like CNC and Water Jet tooling similar to most Cabinet shops needing to utilize similar Machinery to increase production in the woodworking

    I service heavy industrial machinery andI have a customer that grinds wood waste into garden mulch and they have a grinder that can handle 6 telephone pole at once, powered by a 400hp electric motor.
    This shop made machine is quite impressive.

    Had to go back a couple of times to watch that big chunk of C section flexing in the vice. Grinder certainly makes a good power source, now how about a geared down one for a bandsaw like Matthias Wandel's?

    • @bluesquadron593

      I saw that too. In fact i though in the vice building video that may be an issue. They have to box that C section for sure, potentially replace it with a solid bar.

Just could not figure what to power it with, I do have a bosh grinder I don't use (kind of in forced retirement due to health issue). Probably start build end of this week.

    Love it! Be careful though, chainsaw chain is designed to spin a lot slower than that. I would put a chip catcher or make a metal bin that the chips fly into so if a chain breaks, it is contained instead of flying across the room at 18k rpm:)

    This is the best value for money system!
    There is nothing better !
    changing the chains is easy, the process is simple and inexpensive!
    on the other hand, I would rather have put 2 cylinders in opposite rotation, as roller mills do!
    the efficiency would have been at the top!

  • @TheBlork74

    Some flaws:
    -The gap between the blades and wall should be adjustable in this design, otherwise it may not shred small/big branches
    -Use induction motor ! The angle grinder has universal motor with brushes. Those are not meant to be run for extended periods of time and wear out relatively quickly.
    I quite like how it's solid and strong though.
    Thumbs up. Alex

      Pretty much, for a good starter workshop all you need is a hammer, good pair of pliers, screwdrivers and wrenches, an angle grinder and a cheap stick welder.
      Anyone that has these tools and is not doing crap because they "don't have the right equipment", are just making up excuses not to get their hands dirty.

      How many hands do you have? I can only use one at a time! I keep the one I'm using and one spare. They have an annoying tendency to break at the most inopportune moments. Apparently, this is a lesser known one of Murphy's Laws' Corollaries.

    OK, if you are into this, here's a challenge for you: I've always wanted to know how to design and build a "Kindling machine". Input are normal seasoned fire logs. 16", full round. Eventually I'd want to have this machine work over hydraulics, as this can work over time, which is great for non-electrical applications.
    The target goal would have the following dimensions:
    length: 4-6" (10-16 cm)
    diameter: 1-2" (3-6 cm)
    These sticks would be optimal for a Rocket Stove. If you have any ideas, I'd love to see what you could come up with.

    I like what you do with the saw blade in your chop saw, I tried it a few day ago on a piece of 2 1/2" round rod mild steel I had to cut worked great on the first cut but would not cut the second one for me, the blade was shot (it was a used blade). So I was wondering how long does a blade last you?

    • @johnmood5653

      It does not appear that these chains are bound together so some are going to just naturally stagger themselves. And while you're building the chain sets, build a spare so you can sharpen the set that is not in the machine.

    Cool idea dudes.. needs some way of slowing the throughput to get some control of particulate size... big chunks with a fast rate of feed, and fine dust when it goes through slow... something like a pair of sprung rollers at base of hopper that put the brakes on and slow the amount of time it takes to process the piece.

    • @laurenceleeroceta8772
      @laurenceleeroceta8772 7 років тому +2

      Steven Alexander... ok your right bro!!!! how about the 2 bottom bolts? Bolts with selflocking nuts its not easy to open, you nut another tools to counter the rotation of bolts which is at the bottom of the bearing.

    • @mr.lumberjakn3055
      @mr.lumberjakn3055 7 років тому +2

      Techtastisch 75 This is FAR from extreme, you used one of the smaller chains on the market which is going to stretch like a bastard in just a few hours of use due to the lack of cooling provided by the chain oil, the teeth are at the wrong angle thus exacerbating the stretch that will inevitably happen. Had you wanted to START at the bottom edge of extreme you would have used 440 harvester chain or even better would have been the 995 harvester chain that is currently in use on harvester heads. You used a tiny little electric motor which will either burn out turning that monstrosity or need to have the brushes changed excessively in order to keep the motor running. And I might add that almost this exact thing, except it is gas powered is already on the market and it is CHEAP to purchase (under 200$)and extremely well built out of forged steel it also attaches to any modern chainsaw under 80CC.

    Little twigs? That's all good and well. Now, let's see it eat a four by four.

    How do you change the blades when they get dull, Or even sharpen them?

    Dang this wouldn't even need to be an angle grinder hack, it could be a full blown shredder with a higher powered motor!

    Интересная задумка. Вот только может возникнуть проблема с заточкой зубьев или каждый раз набирать новые кольца. Всех благ.

    One question,
    what do u usually do to those metal shavings that are produced in ur lathe?
    i guess metal is somewhat expensive.... those shavings should therefore have some value......

    Hi,this is great,what if you made it bigger ,put a very large motor and more chain saw teeth on the axle ?

      @Hellsong89 7 років тому

      It would be even bigger pain in the as to sharpen and even more chance to chains breaking and flying to your arm, possible ripping your wrists while at it..
