    Always love your content. I have now just completed week 1 on your Mobility course and Week 7 on your Home Workout course. This is my 2 nd time in this course, having completed it once before, almost 2 years ago. It’s the longest I stuck to any workout program. Why I hear some people ask, well the exercise change on average every 2 weeks, sometimes every week, and the type changes every 4 weeks. It keeps me from finding it tedious and introduces new stimuli in a regular basis, and last time during Phase 6, I was getting worried I may have to replace my wardrobe of clothes, as everything was tightening up and stretching. Also I was developing back muscles for the first time in my life. I am 59. Lastly, it wasn’t till the age of 57 did I realise I was doing push ups wrong. I was use to only The Ego push up. Excellent stuff.

Upon completion, I bought your calisthenics program and I'm currently working through level 2. I'm a 49 yo female and I went from knee push ups to a Max of 27 chest to floor push ups :) it took me some time though, like 2 years, because i was not being adhering perfectly to the plan all the time but I kept trying. I'm also doing the mobility training and slowly but steady things improve! 💪 Don't hold back if you are looking to get stronger this will works!

    It's funny how close some of these are to solid core exercises.
    Aside from the dance basically being the same as running on the spot, if you added a bell to that (perhaps only held with one hand), you could still provide a sensible challenge for your core to keep you stable even if you only walked.

    For a third wrong exercise I can see how people get confused that it's actually an ab work. If you pick a sufficiently heavy object on a straight arm position in front of yourself - you will feel activation in your belly. But that's transversus abdominis trying prevent you from collapsing forward - for the very same reason people wear lifting belts. Of course 10 kg dumbbell won't stress Alex enough, but 20-30kg weight will.
    Again, I'm not trying to say that it's a good ab exercise, but I understand why people might think it is.

    • @calimove
      @calimove  6 місяців тому +5

      1. If you hold the dumbbell in front of you, it will stress your back more than the transversus abdominis. Yes the transversus abdominis helps the lower back as well, but since the weight is placed in front of your body, gravity pulls you down into a spinal flexion (if you don't stabilize your spine). So the spine has to do an (static) extension to hold itself in place. If the weight would be placed behind your back the transversus abdominis had to do more work because the spine has to do a (static) flexion to pevent ifself from collapsing in an extended postion.
      2. Your delts are still the main workers and will always be the limiting factor.
