Drug induced psychosis ruined my life, but it woke me up to the fact that it was the weed that was triggering the psychosis. I am done with weed forever, it does nothing good for your life or society in general, and I used to be a huge supporter of weed thinking it was a harmless vice that didn’t hurt anyone. I’ve changed my mind in my later years as I see what it does to kids.

It's not the weed.. its your own insecurities that weed triggers.. i get the same. The weed you smoking is too strong and your brain cant handle it so it goes in to fight or flight mode makes you feel like you goign crazy and hallucinating out your body, rushing thoughts. You have to smoke less or none at all.. i find drinking beers or cider after i get the weed psychosis, that it usually brings me back to myself after half hour of tripping in my mind. Or drink and smoke a little bit only

Weed psychosis is a terrifying nightmare. I experienced it and literally thought people i saw were going to kill me, i was going to get murdered, i was absolutely out of mind. I quit weed that day, but im still recovering from the trauma of that one hour months later. Guys, be careful with cannabis please. Im in my 30s so thankfully my brain was fully developed before this happened and has been able to heal for the most part, but i cant imagine having a young developing brain and having this happen. No wonder young people are getting permanent mental illnesses from this stuff. NOBODY UNDER 25 SHOULD BE TOUCHING ANY MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCE.

My 23 year old son completely cracked the other day and is in the hospital right now with what I am pretty sure is cannabis induced schizophrenia. Totally messed up unable to sleep at night, has negative voices in his head telling him horrible things, hallucinations, mad at us because we don't believe him etc. He's been a heavy user of strong outdoor grown weed for awhile now. He had 2 incidences of bad paranoia after he had smoked too much in the last year. This time he totally lost his mind. Not sure how it will turn out and if he will recover without being medicated the rest of his life, but we will see. Cannabis is not for everyone and there is way too much overuse of it in society. Thanks for educating ppl about this!!

How horrible, I'm so sorry to hear this. I myself had cannabis induced psychosis/schizophrenia when I was 17 years old. The dreadful symptoms of thought broadcasting, the feeling others could read my mind and I could communicate telepathically with them, lasted for many months. Luckily, it eventually went away, though my anxiety stayed for many more years, finally also passing when I was 24. I'm 35 now and believe I lead a productive and happy life.
From personal experience, crucially important during the recovery is that the mind rests. It's gone through a very traumatic experience and needs to be in the best possible position to heal. That means lots of sleep, lots of fluid, some exercise, no stress, lots of understanding and love, and absolutely no drugs (particularly cannabis) or alcohol.
Praying for you that your son makes a full recovery.
Please let me know if you have any questions; I went through this myself so perhaps can be helpful.

@@Avatar1-h5s thank you for sharing this. They did diagnose him with Cannabis Induced Psychosis on Tuesday and now he's on an antipsychotic. The Dr.s And nurses say they see it all the time sadly and no one is talking about it or educating about what the warning signs are. He will be in the psychiatric hospital for maybe another 4-5 days even though he seems much better now and no more voices in his head and weird visionary stuff happening. Do you have to take any meds for it or did you manage to overcome it with our antipsychotic meds ? I had this THC psychosis from the edibles I tried my first time, which was from August. The hallucinations, derealization, intense burning sensation, and demon visuals are real! That night I had to be hospitalized due to hypertensive crisis. Weeks after, weeks of sense of super human strength, no feeling of pain, paranoia, etc, it took a WHOLE MONTH for me to be back to reality! Mind you I am 20 years old. My opinion, the legalization of marijuana needs to be discussed in specific, because I think it's the CBD that was meant as the "medical marijuana".
Edit: For summary, THC-induced psychosis is the entrance to hell, and Satan himself... and that is not an exaggeration, tho I wish it was.

I use to get this from weed back in the days. I realized it happens at really high doses, but since I was social smoker I would always end up taking ridiculously high dose anyway. Got me to stop and never look back 24 years ago. First I stopped smoking socially, and started some kind of microdosing by myself and only when at home. I liked this very much, it had gently stimulating effect, and I used it to make myself more efficient at house chores and other work. When I got pregnant I stopped entirely. Depersonalization/derealization feeling did linger on for some time but it didn't bother me really. It felt like some kind of weed residue and I think of it as a long come down, like slow motion "hangover" that lasts for days, it was resolved by the end of the second week. It's not pleasant by any means but compared to absolute nightmare of psychosis I use to have this honestly didn't bother me. Yes weed craving is real thing, nothing compared to other narcotics of course, but it exists.

This happened to me when I was 17 years old. A horrific experience. Cannabis Induced Psychosis is extremely dangerous; studies show a significant proportion of those that experience it will go on to develop schizophrenia. Had I known the full extent of the risks of marijuana use, that you are effectively playing russian roulette as you cannot know in advance what your genetic are like, I would never have touched it.

    • @CrashMetaReligion1996
      @CrashMetaReligion1996 Рік тому

Some of this is not accurate. A very small minority of people who have bad experiences with marijuana who have the genes for disorders like schizophrenia can see it develop. Or sometimes people who were going to end up with schizophrenia anyway will have it come about at an earlier age. But the vast majority of people who have these bad side effects will or go onto develop schizophrenia.

He started smoking at 15. I took him to doctors, sent him to rehab etc. he didn’t think he was sick and he did not want help.
He ended up becoming a full blown addict and died two months ago from an overdose.
How did we find out he had psychosis? When he was in one of the rehabs. They had to wait 2 months to diagnose him with schizophrenia.
I cannot believe there isn’t a saliva swab test to check to see if a person’s brain chemistry can handle marijuana. I’ve been seeing so many stories of people who literally lost their minds due to weed. It’s tragic.

Early teens in 80s and smoked all types of hash and African herb and was always 'more' stoned than my mates, turns out later on in life that I could stay 'sane' using heroin and crack, (20yrs clean) but tried a cookie a few yrs ago and was paranoid, to the point of having to go to bed in daytime, my thoughts were moving in fractal patterns and the notions of self and choice were lost, realised why my childhood was so strange and partly why I turned to opiates and crack to help with my escapism, cannabis for me causes extreme auditory hallucinations and I could see my thoughts inside my mind in a kaleidoscope pattern, never again,
I am very concerned for my nephew 17 who smokes like a chimney (weed 20+%)

I had dealt with severe intrusive thoughts and OCD for about 10 years, so I would take edibles during the night to sleep, but also try, and help calm down the intrusive thoughts. It wasn’t that bad until a year ago, when I suffered a horrible psychosis episode. It was what finally made me realize that I needed help, and now I feel better than ever. My family and I are genetically more likely to suffer from personality disorders. I suffer from sleep paralysis and OCD as well. My nephew likely does as well and he was smoking weed to help with his sleep paralysis which inevitably led to a complete psychosis in which he allegedly (I have to say that, the case is ongoing) carjacked a vehicle, crashed into two moms going out for coffee in the morning and killed them instantly, he then ran out of the car and tried carjacking another one, assaulted EMT thinking they were demons. He tried getting help and even checked himself into E.R twice before. He’s looking at spending most of his adult life in prison now because of the carjacking, deaths, and an insurmountable litany of other crimes. 5 children don’t have moms anymore. This is not a joke and I would recommend that you do what I do which is to stay away from hard liquor, any sort of weed and find more normal ways of dealing with your mental health. I even tell my bf “don’t ever let me do anything that may inhibit my normal state because I know for a fact I will literally go crazy, I can feel it” and this was way before everything happened with my nephew. I had a very traumatic childhood too which doesn’t help.

Not only is THC causing acute psychosis episodes but also triggering long lasting psychotic disorders the THC is so potent in its pure state as in not laced that when it attaches to these receptors in the brain it locks on and sticks over time with continued use it causes the same structural and functional parts of the brain that looks exactly like the changes that occur in organic serious mental illness adjusting for ALL other risk factors, up to 30% of new schizophrenia cases are directly caused by cannabis use as in had cannabis never has been used the schizophrenia would not have been caused these are people that have no family history no genetic markers it’s young adult males that are at highest risk

He asked everyone for help and because we knew he wasn’t doing any illegal drugs, we just assumed he wanted attention due to his extremely traumatic childhood. He even checked himself twice into the E.R and didn’t get any help, from what I know. Last year in Jan, he allegedly assaulted a woman and when that wasn’t successful he ran into someone’s opened garage and carjacked their vehicle and minutes later at a high speed he crashed into two women going out for a coffee at 10am in the morning and they died instantly. Now he’s looking at a lengthy sentence in his early 20’s. There's no psychosis on either side. Her siblings are fine but it wasn't legal in their state when they started so they got "my buddy's flower" That's why I think it's the strength combined with age. When they 1st started talking about no pot under 25 I thought it more "Just Say No" style scare tactics. Bcz I was experimenting by 15 & was ok. Being lazy or an airhead were the worst case scenarios & those cleared up when you quit. Then there was talk from substance use professionals I trust & then it hit home. IDK - Maybe age restrictions as far as strength. Bcz the THC levels in some carts are over 90%. Lots of edibles/drinks are 100mgs of THC. Which might be 10 servings & there are warnings. But some of us have an "If a little is good, a lot is great" mentality. Especially when we're young!

My best way to explain it would be a “bad trip” so bad to the point where I believe it was psychosis. I find it more common with those of us who already struggle with intense anxiety. I was vomiting & would go unconscious for 30secs max…. my emotions would fluctuate from hysterical laughter to ugly crying…. I couldn’t keep my eyes still, they were going CRAZY!!!! On top of intense hyperventilation. It all started because I wanted to watch Tim Burton’s Alive in Wonderland….. 😂😂😂

The historical landscape of substance control and prohibition in the United States is marked by complexity, controversy, and a diversity of perspectives. Long before the formal prohibition laws were enacted, there were already instances of interrogation and arrests related to certain substances, indicating an early governmental stance against them. However, the broader understanding of why these substances were initially deemed illegal has evolved over time.
The prohibition laws, particularly those under Richard Nixon's administration, were perceived by many as efforts to protect the interests of the alcohol and tobacco industries, rather than public health or moral concerns. This interpretation fueled widespread debates, sowing seeds of skepticism and mistrust towards the government's motives. The controversy intensified as some began to view the prohibition as a mere political maneuver or even a hoax, leading to a growing movement advocating for the legalization of substances like cannabis.
The eventual legalization of cannabis in various states reflected a significant shift in public opinion and understanding. It represented not just a legal change, but also a transformation in societal attitudes towards these substances. Critics of the prohibition argued that it failed to consider the nuanced pros and cons of substance use, instead adopting a blanket approach that overlooked individual and societal complexities.

In a world where loopholes are more abundant than common sense, it's refreshing to know that one can still indulge in the simple pleasures of life. For instance, consider the art of creatively applying a robust adhesive patch to one's chest hair. It's a practice not just for the aesthetically brave, but also for those seeking a rush of endorphins without the tedious fuss of legality or financial burden. This method, standing in the gray area between self-care and masochism, offers a thrilling escape from the mundane, all the while adhering strictly (pun intended) to the letter of the law. Who knew that such a trivial act could be so liberating, yet so absurdly within legal boundaries? Indeed, it's a small but poignant victory for the loophole enthusiasts among us. I mean, if you use your brain, you're not going to jail, simple as that, if you're still dumb 🤥🤥🤥🤥 and are told plenty of lies by psychiatrists and having a shit ton of money wasted on some random benzodiazepine shit.

4-5 years back I had this happen from a very large dose I unintentionally took.
I didn't know thc oil could absorb through the skin.
It was a pretty bad experience I wasn't prepared for.
I still use it now for chronic spinal nerve pain.
It seems to work in place of prescription opioids. It also seems to have less side effects than opioids.
I did quit for 6 months this winter. Just to see how my back was without it and how quitting mentally felt.
I found I'm not very different, have more pain and don't sleep well. I went back to half the night in a recliner for a while. The no decent rest thing is fairly draining.
Weed does have drawbacks, like you need to be more structured and intentional when using it because it will make it easy to let things pass.
But if you just take the relief you get, control your mind. focus and do your thing.
Seems a better alternative to me than years of opioids and major surgery, with my current understanding at least.
By the time I forced have to get surgery. I'm hoping that the methods will be significantly improved beyond cutting the back part of my spine off to make room for the spinal cord.

Thank you for sharing your experience. You seem to have started pretty early. But good you have been off it for a while. The current weed is indeed addictive because of its THC content. Also you can get paranoid if you smoke it after a long gap. I think probably because of the THC in it.

Dr B. I struggled with Heroin, Alcohol,Crack, K2 & benzo addiction for 25yrs and by the grace of God 3yrs ago I found Recovery. I probably tried to get Sober 25times. My Addiction got worse n worse and I fully believe addiction is progressive and fatal. The last 15 yrs of my active addiction where really bad. I was homeless, 140lbs(I'm usually 240), had shingles on my head, hep c, septic infection in my ankle and I was in the worst emotional, mental, and physical pain I could possibly be. I was going through bad psychosis towards the end of my active addiction and at some points was even confused on what my name was. I had a very spiritual experience that expelled the "obsession" of using and gave me a glimmer of hope. Alot of great things have happened for me in the past 3yrs. I have become certified in NY as a CARC(Certified Addiction Recovery Coach) and Peer Advocate. I do not work in a facility but have grown my own coaching Business through social media and word of mouth. I have found Passion and fulfillment in life where the addiction left a hole in my soul. I know from personal experience that if I can get Sober, anyone can. I rarely come across someone who has experienced as much loss, trauma and pain as I endured. 12-step(AA) Recovery is a big part of my Recovery and I am a big advocate for ppl having a program to use to get them on the right track, especially when it comes to making a spiritual connection. I believe the spiritual aspect of Recovery gets over looked a lil when it comes to treatment. To be honest, right now none of the ppl I Coach follow 12step Recovery but I do try to help them understand the spiritual principles associated w the steps and help them implement the principles into their lives if they are willing. I try my best to remain teachable and open-minded when it comes to addiction and recovery. I learn so much from you and your channel. I am so grateful to have come across you and your views and facts on addiction and recovery. My channel is geared towards those in Recovery who really want to strive for success in all aspects of life, cause putting down the drugs and alcohol is only 10% of recovery, the other 90% is changing our attitude and behaviors and for me, that came through working the 12 steps and becoming really active in Recovery. My change came through Pain. I needed to experience all the pain n misery I did to get me to the point of surrendering. My question is do you think that someone can fully recover from Addiction if they haven't really experienced any consequences or real pain(whether emotional, mental, or physical)??? Also we have a Podcast, me n my amazing girlfriend Veronica, the SoberSuccess 🎙️ Podcast,it's on UA-cam, Spotify and all platforms. I would absolutely love to have you on my show for an interview in the future if that would be possible??? Thanks again Dr. B for all the videos and information, you Help me on a Daily Basis... I know of a 47 yo female that smoked weed all day every day. A year ago I noticed a psychological break. She began posting threatening sounding posts on social media that resulted in a harassment conviction and a year probation. She continued to be a heavy user, became delusional, would not obey her proportion rules, and other bizarre behaviors. Now she is in prison for those charges and I think it is a blessing in disguise. On the phone after three weeks she even sounded like a different person. I can tell you from personal experience weed induced psychosis is real and can have these tragic outcomes. Hopefully when released she will stay sober, but I doubt it. Where it will ultimately lead to a very dark place for her future.

My heart was beating fast noises were a lot louder could hear the clocks in my bedroom and bathroom when I was trying to sleep and it was driving me nuts because it was so loud. I also started to panic and felt like I was going to be stuck in this type of state of mind. My dog knew something was wrong and started licking me comforting me and then I took some cbd oil and finally fell alsleep. When I woke up I felt normal thank god but it was scary and I almost called 911!

She pounds to keep me awake from the early evening to early morning, intermittently . During the day she hoses my patio which is attached to her patio. She hoses my windows, my front door, my car, EVERYTHING. . The cops come and take the report and leave. That's ALL. She is diagnosed with schizophrenia and she's getting worse every day. There weren't any cannabis issues until the government got their hands on it and put a tax on it. I tell people, do your own thing; not go to a dispensary. I said 10 years ago that if they legalized , they'd play with it. Past couple years, people going to the hospital and getting mentally messed up. I'm 28, but I use to smoke daily and no one had issues. I stopped due to headaches and didn't like the feeling anymore but it never hurt me or anyone I knew who smoked too. Now, all this weird shit is happening. That's why I stay natural and try to keep what I do out of the government's hands. I mean, GMOs in our food. The system is screwing it. And early teens is too young. Most actually agree with me, if you're going to use weed, get it from someone you trust that hasn't been through a dispensary.

Truth is thc and potentially some issues is going up because a lot of factors but 1) demand from stoners 2) better production methods increasing potency BUT worst of all 3) illegal thc cartridges and the like cut with crap like vitamin e that causes serious respiratory issues.

People in the comments mistake one time high that causes "psycosis" and lasts a day like a bad trip with severe canabis induced psycosis that goes for weeks and even months. Even when you stop consuming psycosis is still there...and then only solution is antipsyhotics which feels like a death sentence. You smoke weed to get out of depression. You get psycosis and you go on antipsyhotics and then you are more depressed then before. That is why i think people get back to weed. Had acute psycosis in 2001,2020 and 2023. Used multipule substances but weed was always there.

It just made me feel sicker and eventually caused liver toxicity. During the break while my liver was healing I started taking RSO. Soon I would have another brain scan after about 3 months to locate the best spot to direct the laser for radiation treatments I was soon to start. The dr. came back with shock that the entire tumor was gone including all scar tissue. RSO and cannabis period is a miracle drug for certain things. It also helped me with pain, headache pressure, nausea, appetite, sleep, and anxieties that come from being sick with a deadly disease. Over 40 years ago I saw people have psychotic reactions to weed. I also saw people projectile vomit from weed. To this day I've never seen this develop over time- these people had the reaction the first time and every subsequent time. If you or someone you know has a bad reaction to weed, don't expect different results with repetition. You might just feel relaxed and euphoric, but these folks will never experience that. It seems to be a matter of individual biochemistry. That might also include developing problems over time. Just because I haven't seen it happen directly doesn't mean it doesn't happen, and it's not like most times I've seen someone flip out that I knew enough about their lifestyle to know what may have caused it since most people who do drugs don't do so openly. There are also people who's underlying condition isn't caused by drugs but nonetheless is exacerbated by them. Schizophrenia, depression and anxiety can all be exacerbated by cannabis.
