  • This is the 2nd car I drove in this back to back comparison. The Turbo is a very different car than the GT cars. There is far less emotion, but it's awesome in its own way.

The Turbo or Turbo S is the daily driver, the GT3 or GT3RS is the dedicated sports or track car. That's the dream scenario.

EAGLE___EMPIRE Because the Turbo is much better daily as it's more practical and comfortable, it's got nothing to do with price. Why does it matter if it costs more anyway?

FareedGhulam Akbar while there’s a decent argument that the GT3 RS is a supercar, the Turbo/S and GT3 are unquestionably sports cars. And I say that as a Turbo S owner. It’s absolutely sensational but it’s not a ‘supercar’. It’s my daily driver - and the RS would never (sensibly) be that.

Lucky to get all those cars together to compare these! I’m going to Porsche Experience Center LA so I can compare the GTS, GT3 and Turbo bc I really don’t know which I want. The new GT4 will be awesome but Im almost exactly your size and I think I’ll appreciate the extra room. The drama of the GT3 is incredible which is what I love. I traded a boxster 718S for a camaro SS 1LE for the drama and I honestly haven’t been disappointed. pushes me towards a GT3. Thanks for the videos!

Sounds more like a vacuum compared to the GT4.
Doesn't matter what exhaust you put on it, the turbo's kill the sound.
That's the beauty of the GT4, you can drive it legally and still have the full on emotional experience.
With the turbo you need to go well over legal speed limit to enjoy it.

Great stuff as always Matt! Interesting to note that you didn't mention the 4WD characteristics especially when it's often argued that the RWD versions provide the 'purer' driving experience and more so coming from the GT4 and your GT3. As a C4S owner I find the experience 'pure' enough ;)

Nice car, and with 150 lb ft more torque than a GT3 I figured it would feel faster down low. It is amazing how many variants the 911 comes in. No other sports car has so many levels of performance, style and drivability. From an everyday car to a straight race car and everything in between. It's cool to watch you trip out on other peoples cars.

That torque is where it's at Matt! This is why I personally love the turbocharged 911's and prefer them to the GT series cars. My main criticism is the turbos really need an aftermarket exhaust as you really only hear the turbo whoosh when they're stock

It looks like your car throws you back into your seat and keeps you there and the turbo acts as expected by giving you more top end.
I personally like your car better unless you are really at the top of your rpm range more. Perfect car for us here in AZ with long straight roads, it doesn't seem like you have that in Florida but i have never been.
I want to go drive one now though so Thank You?😂

Great series of reviewing the Porsche GT cars, personally I don't like comparing cars with different transmissions. Would've preferred you use 997 Gt3/RS and or 997 Turbo or 991 Carrera GTS since they all have manual options. 991 Carrera GTS would be my choice, really hard to beat the joy of a manual, turbo and rwd.. Maybe you could compare 997 Gt2 vs 991 Carrera GTS

Honestly, Just go whipple your GT350 and wait for the GT5. You had the most fun in the GT4, but it's too similar to your GT3, wait for the next generation. I could be completely wrong, that's just what it seemed watching your reactions.

Try a 991.2 Turbo S. Yes the 991.1 Turbo is a great car and super solid. The 991.2 TTS is another animal... a little less lag and no boost under 2200 rpm (991.1 starts boost at 1850) but the PDK solves that for you. The car just effs off every time you get a bit of throttle on it. No detectable lag at all in Sport+ mode. The 991.2 has many improvements and sound is one, it's a bit more in the cabin - definitely a windows-up car just like the one you drove, though. 555lb/ft of torque has to be felt to be understood, the car just goes effortlessly fast everywhere and still surprises you when you give it full throttle. For me, the 991.2 S is a big step up.

  • @ShamanWS6

Actually I just realised that this might be the Turbo that I and my buddy ripped past and raced his buddies in GT3s down the US 129. On superbikes (1199 and RSV4) White 991.1 with rear wiper, same area, same rough time. :)

    Hi Matt,
You know I absolutely love your channel, been following you since the beginning.
But I have to correct you on this one. This is clearly a 991 Turbo, not a 991.2, therefore it has "only" 520hp, not 540 as you keep on saying in the video. You would probably be very surprised on how fast these turbos are off the line. A GT3 wouldn't even see where it went. A "good" driver would also comfortably beat the GT3 on the track with the Turbo. These are after all the top of the line of 911's. Turbo S and GT3 RS are sort of equals on track, but the fun level in the RS is considerably higher... Then there is the monster GT2 RS which in a way is a combination of those two...
