2024 Puente Y Ganas Organization Award, VIDAS Vital Immigrant Defense Advocacy and Services

It is with great excitement to announce the winner of the 2024 Organization Puente y Ganas Award, VIDAS Vital Immigrant Defense Advocacy and Services.
VIDAS (Vital Immigrant Defense Advocacy and Services) was founded by a physician’s assistant, a refugee from El Salvador, and an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. VIDAS provides comprehensive legal services for immigrants at minimal or no cost. Their efforts have secured legal status or prevented deportation for thousands, predominantly within the Latino community. Notable achievements include the development of the Rapid Response Network during the Trump administration and extensive training programs for legal volunteers. VIDAS also played a crucial role in disaster response, notably during the Tubbs Fire, and has been instrumental in various community initiatives, including naturalization clinics and DACA fairs. Their commitment to justice and equity continues to make a profound impact in Sonoma County.
