This was sung live. No autotune. Just Elvis.
Let me just say this, this may be the best performance anywhere and by anyone.
Agreed!!!
the most heartfelt uplifting inspiring performance for sure
Unbeknownst to his manager, Elvis had this song written for him to sing at the end of a 1968 NBC Christmas TV special. It was his tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. & Robert F Kennedy both of whom were killed earlier that year. His manager had wanted a simple, traditional Christmas carol. Elvis had his musicians and crew change the stage backdrop without his manager knowing. Colonel Parker (his manager) didn’t want Elvis to involve himself in the racial tensions of that time but Elvis went ahead anyway.
I will say.. never F...k with Elvis.. he's the King for a reason... the man could sing anything.. from Rock, country, Gosspel. just don't mess with Elvis
If I Can Dream was written by W. Earl Brown as a request by Elvis because of the assassinations of MLK (in Elvis’ hometown, Memphis) and Robert Kennedy that same year.
According to Steve Binder, the producer of Comeback Special, Elvis passed out after the 5th take because of exhaustion from putting all his emotion into the song, recorded on June 23, 1968.
The special was actually recorded between June 24-30th and released on TV on December 4th.
Delightful to see 'youngsters' like you respond with enthusiasm to Elvis, just like we 'oldsters' did back in the 1950s & 1960s, when they expected Elvis to be forgotten in 6 months
I would say his best ever.
Greatest old music is the best of all time sadly it's gone
55 years later and still has phenomenal impact. I am so thankful that a lot of his performances were recorded because i can still watch and listen when i want. Thanks🤗

Elvis..the greatest of All Times
One suggestion most times its better to SEE an Elvis performance than just listen to the music, its a whole experience
He sang this from the depths of his soul. He was good friends with Martin Luther King Jr & it was his tribute to him because of the assasination of MLK & JFK that year. They were trying to get him to sing a Christmas song to close this special ( 68 comeback special) but he defied everyone & insisted on doing this song. He wanted a message to be heard around the world.
Amazing passionate performance. Elvis meant every word. He was very upset about the assassination of Martin Luther King
ALSO ROBERT KENNEDY. THATS ALSO WHY HE DID THIS SONG TRICE FOR THE RESPECT OF BOTH MEN THAT STOOD UP FOR EQUALITY ❤
The recent loss of Martin Luther King Jr affected him deeply. They said after this performance Elvis went back to the dressing room, lay down on the floor and cried for half an hour. Such a moving, powerful performance that he believed in.
King for a reason
The King!!!
I like a lot of singers. But I LOVE Elvis. There's just something about him. Thank you for such a great reaction.

Agreed!
From 1968. Elvis was timeless. Thank you for reacting. I think you’ll have fun finding out the truth about the phenomenon that was Elvis Presley. His voice was studied and found to have true baritone and tenor tones with a range of about 4 octaves. It’s wonderful that young people today are finding out about him and he is being remembered 👌💕🕺
Oooh i love this his vocals the instrumentals perfect thanku so much x

If you want to attract some new, old school subscribers, I suggest you start checking out the band Queen. They are a band from the 70s and 80s that made some of the most iconic songs in music history. I’m going to suggest you start with one of the greatest songs ever written, Bohemian Rhapsody. If you’ve never heard it, you will be amazed. Check out the official music video before you listen to it live. I’m here for your reactions to their music. You won’t be disappointed ❤

Duane Reacts: You prematurely cut off this clip before an emotionally spent Elvis says "Thank you, good night."
In the future take a moment to see and hear in making sure that this doesn't happen again.
