Glad you're back in business! Really informative as a DIY FPV pilot. You've applied a nice grade as usual, but the superior lens and dynamic range vs the O3 still comes across, even on UA-cam
I have a video *almost* done (I just have to fix the voice over sections, bad audio) and it REALLY shows exactly that: lens and dynamic range, and we can use 4k 4:3 now instead of 2.7k. It feels like they could have accomplished most of this with a new camera instead of whole new airunit, but thats DJI for you! 😁
@@BrandonBeans I wanted to mention it because I think near the start of the video I heard you say that perhaps the difference between this and O3 AU isn't as large as you once thought, whereas I find Action 4 / Avata 2 very recognisable because due to the contrast and exposure in blue skies.
you don't need a cell phone to fly it UNLESS you are in a *blue* zone on the map... For those you need to use AirControl app to get a LAANC authorization and then plug in your phone and DJI Fly app to the goggles 3, then just fly within your authorization zone. I'll have to show you how I do this soon.
@@hi_desert_rat I don't like motion tracking if that's what you mean. I can see some people getting the hang of it just starting out, but I'm too stuck in my ways. I really just wanna fly with the twin sticks
@@BrandonBeans Yeah, that's what I was talkin' bout. Guess I'd have to try it to know if I liked it or not but I think I'd probably agree with your conclusion.
@@hi_desert_rat DJI worked really hard to come up with a solution to the incredibly steep learning curve that us fpv pilots have had to go through in order to learn how to fly. I think this might actually be the best way to accomplish this, but it's not a perfect replacement (yet).
@@BrandonBeans You look vaguely like somebody who lived there in the 80s and it wouldn't leave me alone that you might be his kid. Of course I couldn't tell you who it was, just a sense of familiarity.
Oh how I have missed that beautiful bean footage!

100% missed opportunity to call that 'Steele Mode' the icon should just be a handlebar mustache!
Look at this guy!!! Lookin good old man!
🤘
Great video nice ending. Now that the DJI ban is over I think I'm getting one. How does remote bullshit ID work if you don't have cell service?😊

still considering getting one... Does it look straight down at the ground like the mini/mavics?
I think its 80 degrees down and 85 degrees up. So yeah basically you can look all the way down when choosing a landing site.
Does it feel natural? Any disconnect between view and drone orientation?

@@BrandonBeans I agree, whatever helps to get people doin' what they love. 👍
Did you grow up in Chico?
No, I moved here about 15 or so years ago.
