This Album got me through such a tough time in my life. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of how far I've come and I can't help but tear up a little.
This song represents my life from 15 to 17 years old. I was at a low point in my life. It brings back feelings that I had at the time. But life is good now.
I had no idea how much more this song would resonate with me over the years. The older I get the stronger I feel every lyric of this and the more I wanna just pretend no time has passed since this album came out.
I was listening to this song today, thinking about how my best friend passed away 3 years ago and would have turned 30 today... It's helping me right now
This album was with me during the loneliest time of my life. I cling to these songs for dear life as my heart shattered and died on the bathroom floor of an empty apartment.
I just recently listened to the entire album. I knew The Middle and Sweetness but i didn't think the rest would be all that good. I was insanely wrong. It's a banger album
You remind me of my college days, and the first love of my life (The Mother of my Children). We saw you live at The Wilma in Missoula, MT and had the most romantic moment of our lives, in the Lazer Lights, at the front of the balcony, against the railing. We've been over for 11yrs, but thanks for the memory, Jimmy. Neither of us will ever forget it.
Jimmy Eat World - for me - makes a strong case as the best band over the past quarter century. The Foo Fighters are a very tough contender, but it's not just about the quality of Jim Adkins' songwriting - it's the remarkable consistency. And, throughout music, I can't think of anyone who writes better album closers. Perhaps that sounds like hyperbole, but someone provide a better example?
Three days ago my girlfriend broke up with me. She said she wasn't ready and that we should both work on each other and that she couldn't commit to something she was having doubt about, but also that she feels it was never meant, we only had 2 dates but both dates would go really really good at first til night hit and something bad happened and was revealed both times. Almost like we were made for each other but were never meant to be together. I cried since that night and the whole day after, i only cried once yesterday but was hurt all day, and today i don't knoe how Its going to be, but i can already feel myself getting somewhat better. She wanted us to learn from our mistakes and to change and everything, even if we'll never see each other again which will most likely happen. I miss her so much, every day every part of us, but i know that it is probably best we keep going individually, and even though she'll never see me again, or probably doesn't even care anymore, I'm going to better myself, I'm a horribly lonely person so it's going to be a little hard getting used to the loneliness again but i wil do it. She was the light that brightened my dark skies, my sun, but now she's gone and i have to find my way in the cold dark alone. If there's any chance you see this Dulce, i love you.
My dear friend, I certainly hope you are feeling so much better now. I know what it is like to feel broken inside, because I have been through this myself. I was with the same girl for 8 years and in may 2021 she decided to part ways. It really felt like hell for me for a very long time, during which I thought about ending my life, but I can now say that I have finnally overcome that situation and learned from it. Now I am really happy because I keep the focus on what is a part of my life right now and have let go of the past. They say that time heals everything and back then I didn´t want to believe it but now I have a different opinion about it. Cheers my friend
yeah Joey Baldwin just meant he heard it on a random burnt CD, he's not saying anything negative about the album. If you truly agree with the message in this song, you would be a lot more kind and gracious in your words towards others. I love Jimmy and Blink, both have awesome songs that inspire great depth of emotion.
I heard this song a long time ago. To this day when I hear it I still tear up. I had cancer as a young boy in the early 80's. My dad left it was torcher on my life. I've had failed relationships you name it 🤣. On my deathbed I'm playing this flipping everyone off! FTW and FTG.
+unveiled mystery to be fair, most of blink 182s music is not supposed to be beautiful deep. I do believe it does do an astounding job of capturing the feelings of youth. That being said, this album is deeper than anything they ever wrote. It's just not a fair comparison
i first heard this song in 5th grade in 2007. sadly, i played it when i was try to kill myself. i know thats not the meaning of the song but good good bye part got to me
It was originally "Bleed American," but a couple months after its initial release the 9/11 attacks happened and the name suddenly felt a little too "on the nose." So JEW re-released it as "Jimmy Eat World." Classy dudes.
patricia sanders Blink 182 wasn't commercial until it gained popularity, same thing happened to Jimmy Eat World, bands sell their souls so record labels wring'em out as much as they can, capitalism at it's best.
+Ebani That has nothing to do with Capitalism, people don't understand what capitalism is. Capitalism is simply a free market, it means you could grow some fruits and veggies, or even weed(see, we don't have Capitalism), and sell it. It's freedom. It means you can start your own business, you can sell your car, and no one can regulate it, or tell you you can or can't. True Capitalism doesn't exist.
What? Capitalism means freedom? You couldn't be farther away (seems that brainwashing worked for you). No, capitalism != freedom, it actually means everything around you can be owned, therefore you can sell anything by taking away whatever freedom that thing had. Yes in practice no economic system is pure (capitalism takes some from socialism and vice versa), is what happens when you put in place antiquated, rustic and obsolete economic systems in order to protect the interest of the few.
Ebani Spoken like a true socialist. Your actually the one that is brainwashed by socialism. The true brainwashing is trying to turn people against the free market. We don't have a true free market. Capitalism is not to protect the interest of an elite few, because the elite few want to fund and like socialism, and want to brainwash the people into hating Capitalism, because they want to do away with it, and this is what people don't understand. Capitalism is a name used by Karl Marx, this is where the term really started to get it's ground. True Capitalism is the free market. How are you going to imply things have freedom? Part of what America is about, is being able to have private property. The fact you have a phone or a computer, and it is yours, and you own it, and no one can take that from you, is a tenet of the free market. Under Capitalism, if we had it in it's real form(not the socialism that is being implemented slowly), you could grow a bunch of apples, and start a stand, sell them, and build it into a company. Yes, under a free market, you can sell anything, but how are you going to give things freedom or not? If someone wants to purchase some land, and then grow some plants, and then sell those plants, that is freedom, that is what America is about. The protected interest of the few, have nothing to do with Capitalism in any way, they use socialism and governments to destroy their competition, in real Capitalism, you can't use force to destroy your competition in any way.
Ebani Karl Marx tried to demonize the free market with the term, but with the true free market, it isn't even a system in the first place. It means you can buy and sell whatever you want without any regulation. There is no better way to have a society that is built on freedom. Under a free market America became the most prosperous, strongest nation, then as socialist ideologies were implemented, all of that changed.
this is not the best album..nor even close friend..you should know better than that..there isnt that many views on these albums...blink 182 has them beat way much brother..
I had this on repeat in March of 2004 when I was 22. My Dad had just passed and I couldn't stop listening to it.
Im 39 and still come back to this song. To remind me. Stay strong brothers and sisters.

This song represents my life from 15 to 17 years old. I was at a low point in my life. It brings back feelings that I had at the time. But life is good now.
Me too. I'm 34 now.
David Walker God bless David. This life is about surviving our demons and moving forward to better days and better chapters.
This song is timeless, I’m 62 and it totally resonates!
I had no idea how much more this song would resonate with me over the years. The older I get the stronger I feel every lyric of this and the more I wanna just pretend no time has passed since this album came out.
It's impossible not to cry at this song! Makes me tear me up everytime I listen to this. It's amazing!

I heard this on the series finale of ROSWELL. Awsome show.
Joey Baldwin This "random" album went Platinum in the US and Canada...also sorry Jimmy Eat World has more talented musicians than just a drummer.
+TheMojoII He doesn't even realize this album was a huge success critically too, this is far better then anything Blink 182 could ever compose.

💜
I will come back to this comment in 5 years time when I am so much more than this.
Where did the songs with meaning go...
When I got this album, it was a self titled album instead of Bleed American
It was originally "Bleed American," but a couple months after its initial release the 9/11 attacks happened and the name suddenly felt a little too "on the nose." So JEW re-released it as "Jimmy Eat World." Classy dudes.
Il come back to this comment 1 day and I know il be more than this ❤

blink 182 was super commercial its like comparing dave Matthews to rhianna. I like blnk but jimmy is my dave in this genre.

It's halfway between emo-pop and emocore, so I'd just call it emo

Music is subjective.
These guys have more substance than Blink. But Blink is fun, too.
