Insurance has the final say on how things are done though. It could've 100% been repaired, but it was probably cheaper to replace. As far as being the same or not, it will be as good as factory. Machines can't put them together no better than a well trained and experienced tech
yes, i believe steel rivets. taken from UK Aircraft industry way back during WW2, Jaguar pioneered use of steel for assembling aluminum panels in cars. iirc the rivets are galvanized. those "baby young to the world" will likely not be aware of Jaguar's famous History of building cars from aluminum in the late 40's early 50's and will also not even be aware of how Jag was owned by FORD as recent as the early 2000's. 1951 XK120 on Jay Leno... ua-cam.com/video/IyF8IgxZAZw/v-deo.html
How i wish our shop has a separate place for aluminum...
I didn't think aluminum would throw off sparks? I do like how you use a separate repair area! Nice job!
Steel rivets
If aluminum wouldn't spark then it couldn't be welded. Those are aluminum, what sense would it make to put steel rivets on an aluminum body?

I’m not well versed in bodywork, how come you can’t pull and use filler on a small spot like that
Insurance decides all. Probably cheaper to just replace
Notification squad!👍🏻
Man. I would have rather had a little bondo and just repaired that corner, versus taking the whole side off, which will never be the same afterwards.

Lots of sparks for an aluminum bed
Steel rivets
@@michael931 because those won't rush.
Did you get your aluminum replacement and repair training from "I-CAR"?🙂
The sparks are from steel rivets.
Aluminum make sparks too. No way those rivets are steel. Guarantee they are Aluminum

because: ALUMINUM.
Best explaination ever
I hate manufacturers are using aluminum panel/structures now. The repairability just went into trash.
