@dannyaraya8017 no. The rock fucked up in the rumble which added the big show. "They" didn't do anything. The rock blew a spot and they took wrestling a bit more seriously and didn't treat us as if we were blind in that match.
I’m honestly surprised that in the midst of the “Get the F Out” campaign, Vince didn’t come up with a stable of heel environmentalists who claimed they own the rights to the name Monday Night Raw. It would be so in character with how petty it would be.
On Randy Savage leaving and never returning to WWF, Vince was pissed that Savage took the Slim Jim sponsorship, and the sponsorship money that came with it, to WCW with him. Shows how petty Vince was even at that time.
Randy’s brother Lanny aka ‘The Genius’ pushed another reason in a shoot interview for why Vince never had Randy return to the company, whether it’s true or not well most likely never know but Lanny definitely led in the direction of that reason
@thepunkrocker4093 Yeah which is actually a really clever way to do it I think. That way you can make sporadic appearances without anyone saying you're supposed to be retired
Hogan didn't say he's wrestled 400 times in one year. With wrestlers often wrestling twice a day, that's feasible. Hogan stated that he wrestled 400 days in one year due to travelling between America and Japan and the time differences involved.
Wrestling is built on a foundation of exaggerations and embellishments. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it tbh. You know what they say: never let the truth get in the way of a good story
That's all well and good for in-business storylines, shoots and angles but knowingly lying and exaggerating actual attendence figures for some of your most memorable, epic PPV's, especially one like Wrestlemania III which is considered one of the most iconic, prestigious moments in North American wrestling history that its still discussed almost 40 years later and is perceived as being the height of WWF's 80's "Rock and Wrestling" boom that put most other independent wrestling territories out of business. Events like that are too important historically to casually lie about it and then double, and triple down on those lies when their rightfully pointed out. It's also stupid and unnecessary. I realize 93, 178 people in attendence sounds better than maybe around 75-76,000 fans and WWE would lose the world's largest indoor attendence record but so what? Pontiac Silverdome was an extremely large, huge NFL stadium that wasnt easy to sellout and yet, the WWF did exactly that.
@ I fully understand your point, but I’m not sure what else to say other than that I (respectfully) disagree. It’s entertainment! That inflated 93,178 number is for entertainment purposes to help make those in attendance feel like they were part of a monumental occasion Was Andre the Giant really 7’4”? No (his passport circa his physical prime lists him as 6’1”), but that inflated number helped sell the illusion of him being this unstoppable force come to life
Undertaker’s match against Giant Gonzalez did count as a win for Undertaker because Giant Gonzalez was disqualified. As far as Triple H and Shawn Michaels wrestling the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, they count as well because neither one of them was able to defeat him.
the lie was that he had "vanquished 21 people" he did win 21 matches... but if he fought hbk twice and triple h 3 times... subtract 3 people. and add one, because i do believe one match he beat 2 opponents.. so it's 19 people, 21 matches.
Vince McMahon in the McMahon documentary said that the storyline drama shown in the ring was just a show and in real life they're a perfectly happy family. Yeah bullshit.
Other big lies in wrestling are that Hulk Hogan being the best wrestler, WWE knowing their math since Wrestlemania 40 isn't the actual 40th anniversary. Wrestlemania 1 was in 1985 and 39 years later which is 2024 Wrestlemania 40 happened. It's been 39 years of actual Wrestlemanias. And another lie is that Wrestlemania 32 had over 100,000 fans in attendance when they did not
We all know the biggest lie is a bunch of creeps and predators claiming to be family friendly entertainers. Who couldve guessed a bunch of actors with CTE would be weird.
Pat Patterson won in a tournament in Rio De Janeiro to declare the first intercontinental champion... they lied a lot about people's heights.. i swear at one point Kane would get taller each week and sometimes during a match.. i believe it eventually was just "he's over 7 feet tall!!" same was true for weights.. he's over 700 pounds.
Height of wrestlers is a big one (no pun intended). I met Tatanka in person when I was 17, and stood 6'1" tall already (grew to 6'4"), but anyway... I took a pic with Tatanka and stood maybe 2 inches taller than he was. I later met Bill Goldberg when he was filming Santa's Slay in my town 20 years ago, and expected him to be around my height. I was a couple inches taller than he was. But let me clarify, I am have been a bit taller than they were, but they were still guys I would never step up to!
There would definitely have been WWF/E talent who wrestled over 400 times in a year during that "killer kalendar" era, guys like Bret Hart were doing double shots every day in two towns so even with time off you "only" had to work 200 days a year. I'm pretty sure this was after Hogan though and even then he was never going to be showing up at two B towns a day.
times the wwe did NOT lie might be a shorter list. but with such upstanding honest caring people as "hulk hogan" and vince mcmahon who would possibly expect anything but the absolute truth. i think i'm gonna need proof these are lies. 🙃🙃 technically since most of it is storyline, isn't it all lies? "oh he really hates that guy" "he's trying to kill him" "he completely unsuspectedly broke into his opponents house!!" lucky they just randomly had 8 cameras and a film crew there, and in the right spots to catch all the action. 😂 really isn't referring to him as "hulk hogan" a lie?? that's not really his name, brother.
The animals won the war.... Actually not as much as you would think Yes they finally got hold of the WWF name for good (which was funny because by that time their name no longer amounted to that acronym) but they went onto lose every single other judgement they tried, including trying to sue the WWE for releasing classic video games that still used unscratched footage The Pandas, in their infinite wisdom, claimed "old people are stupid, and they will buy these games thinking the money is going to us", only to be laughed out of court when it was pointed out to them that the offensive logos were in game, and thus the only way to see them would have been to already purchases the game which had NO WWF logos on it. Thankfully that saw the end of the Panda McMahon war as they decided making themselves a laughing stock simply wasn't worth it anymore.
Biggest lie: pretending like Roman Reigns is one of the greatest wrestlers. When he's not. If he wasn't related to The Rock. He'd be just another jobber!
How dare you???? 21 - 0 is 21 - 0… he could have got a W against Barry Horowitz via count out it’s still a W and he better HHH what 4x ….. it’s still 21 & 0.
It probably goes further back than that. Many of those same neckbeards are still getting finessed by the 2014 kayfabe of ‘Daniel Bryan wasn’t supposed to be part of the plan’.
Austin vs Rock vs Triple H at Survivor Series 99. They knew for weeks that Austin couldn’t do the match but advertised it anyway.
They did?! No way! I've never heard this before! Oh em gee!
i was 11 when it happened and so bummed. then we never got a rematch & they made it all weird by mixing in the big show 😒
@dannyaraya8017 no. The rock fucked up in the rumble which added the big show. "They" didn't do anything. The rock blew a spot and they took wrestling a bit more seriously and didn't treat us as if we were blind in that match.

When Shawn Michaels "lost his smile", aka didn't want to do the job for Bret.

Survivors series 1999 advertising Steve Austin knowing he was clearly going to be our for a long time
WrestleMania III attendance was in the high 70,000's, Summerslam '92 attendance was around 72,000.

Not only had Andre been slammed before, HOGAN had slammed him before!
Hogan didn't say he's wrestled 400 times in one year.
With wrestlers often wrestling twice a day, that's feasible.
Hogan stated that he wrestled 400 days in one year due to travelling between America and Japan and the time differences involved.
Jericho was never retired from the WWE he just left to go do his music. But he always returned until he fully left in 2018 to go wrestle elsewhere
10 times what culture purposely re did this video
The amount of videos they redo it's up to the hundreds
Randy Savage lost his retirement match at Mania 7 and then won the WWF Title at Mania 8.
Hogan also said he ripped both biceps lifting andre. Dude been lying for 50 years
No disrespect to Sting, but how could he have not known McMahon was going to screw him over

Once In A Lifetime
Andre was at the very least 7 1. Theres a picture of him with wilt chamberlain who was 7 1 and he looks to be maybe taller than him by a bit...
Yes, a behind the scenes pick from Conan the Destroyer. Both were holding Arnold up off the ground.
