Here in Brazil we have quite a list of modifications for this bike. Focus on improving bottom end power and torque. Handling and suspension is quite nice out of the box for what it is, but the engine response is quite soft when compared to any modern 2 stroke, smaller or bigger displacement.
Any chance to share your modifications on this bike especially I am very curious to know what can be done for bottom end power and torque. I have very unpleasant feeling on first and second gear but super fun third+
@@ScramblingLife We usually raise compression by shaving stock head up to 0.8mm without any downsides, 11T front sprocket, elongate the pickup coil bracket holes so you can advance timing by around 2.5°, this also doesn't have any downsides as the stock ignition timing is very mild, improves bottom response all the way to top. Some folks even go as far as changing the pickup location on the flywheel, going as far as 5° total degrees of advance. We also have acces to a programmable exhaust valve controller LTron is the name of the brand, it helps a lot with response all around. That's what I remember from the top of my head. Hope it helps.
@@ScramblingLife This should be considered some very easy modifications for someone with 2 stroke knowledge. Just look for a shop you can trust and has direct experience with 2 strokes and you're good to go.
Hi mate. It sounds like the clutch is slipping during the power band. I'd remove the stock clutch and fit new race ones. You'll be loosing a lot of power there. Thanks for the vid though

I still have my Pitsterpro LXR 155 purchased 2010 and it’s a quality bit of kit. Pitsterpro GPX have been around a long time first pit was the X4 great bikes and real good quality for the money
Sounds a lot like a dt is it the same engine as a dt 230 lanzia it looks identical to (the engine) if it is then it will be a perfect trail bike but I think it would probably struggle with bottom end power for the extremes, I’d like to see you at sonyas next extreme on it, straight in the deep end 👍🏼
We can only wait and see. However I look at the guys over the pond in the states 🇺🇸 and see how much they like them and are enjoying the experience and have been for sometime. For me it’s a back up bike and it pretty much ticking all the boxes for the job.
@@RobboRobinson They've been holding up really well over here in the U.S. A lot of guys are doing some true hard enduro with them, successfully. Even with the 250e air-cooled model, a guy close to Denver was doing some crazy hard enduro and it was performing flawlessly.
Try just lifting up on the shift lever the whole time you floor it down a straight, instead of backing off the throttle to shift. You should not "hear" the bike shift, should be seamless.
I was looking at getting the new tse300 when it comes into the country but they are not importing the version with rear linkage,have you thought about the 300 ?
Yes I have one on order to run along side this one. That will be the fore runner hard enduro bike for me. Looking at the 300’s engine it will be a weapon.
@@RobboRobinson ye looks really nice,plenty of pep from the vids I have seen but I cant get the version without linkage,cant be bothered with the set up hastle,linkage setup is so quick I am done in an hour,worst case is a spring swap before setup
@@RobboRobinson ye for plodding around in the woods but not so easy if you want to ride track with the pds I believe,have heard of people struggling with the setup and its more for slow riding than mx ect,I like to do both and the linkage is simple to adjust for both

@@freeradical431 my 85 and 86 cr500's just felt faster than my newer 500's did they weren't ever stock. Added performance part's and porting before the first rides, on cold mornings 🌄 I can still feel a few wrecks...lol I became disabled in 03 but still have a few 2 smoker's in the shop that I can't seem to part with...lol Kawasaki bighorn 350cc flattracker, 1975 Suzuki RE5 land speed project for Bonneville, and a 1975 Suzuki water Buffalo H2....from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
I’ll cover that in a future vid but there are a lot of interchangeable parts. Being what it is I’d buy the China replacement parts through the importer or dealers when they are set up. There’s loads of stuff on AliExpress for the engine and other parts you just have to know the right search criteria. HJ250H
Got mine last week HJ250H 2 stroke, changed my plastic kit to Polisport KTM SX 2019-2022, the plastic kit came from the bike itself quite stiffy and easy to break.. Polisport plastic kit soft and flexible.
@@RobboRobinson some parts i use from KTM SX and Yamaha YZ250..used to ride hard enduro with it put to the test, i never know it has power band that could pulled me off from the bike when i throttled to 3rd gear
Being lucky I personally know the importer but from now on it will be dealer purchase once set up. Just watch for up coming news. Not sure who or where as yet then you can go look first.

@@techies_gaming8091 something like this as racing conditions differed over the weekend. One race was flat out the other more technical. Technical race 12 litres in 3hrs roughly compared to 10 litres in 1hr 40 during fast morning race. 🤷🏻♂️
Not always going up the box quicker gear change. A drop of the revs and shift up. Clutch when going down the box at speed. 2T gearbox can take a lot if you know what your doing. Many use this principle.
It's a sequential box, you don't need the clutch on motorcycles when going up or down the box, just a quick wrist flick on the throttle and toe up or down on the lever.
On a good bike- you never use the clutch to shift, up or down. You just lift up or push down on the shift lever and the gears will sync with the rpm. You should never hear the bike shift.
Flat shifting is a very good way to quickly round the engagement dogs off. Rolling the throttle a smidge unloads the dogs and does wonders for gearbox life.

Chinese bikes fell like they put lead in the frames or else they use cheap heavy steel... I just wonder where all the extra weight comes from.
Axles are solid steel , the engines are heavier as is the suspension but I don’t seem to notice when riding.
gpx weighs in at 272 pounds 123kg wet. .crf250l 318 pounds 144kg . ktm tpi 227 pounds 103kg

What’s the deal with aftermarket parts for them? Are they bespoke to the gpx or are they that much of a copy that ktm parts fit?

you mention in the video that a honda 300l is twenty kgs heavier than the gpx but you dont mention a gpx is 20 kgs heavier than a ktm

Does it have a O ring chain?
No it’s an MX chain. I’ve since put an o’ring chain on for the type of riding I’m doing on it. Update coming soon on mods etc. 👍🏻
