- The 430i's engine, a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, is the star of the show. In an automotive market flooded with boosted four-cylinders, BMW's stands out from the crowd with big performance and a lot of character. Like all good turbo fours, the engine builds torque quickly and low in the rev range for that authoritative shove at traffic lights. The BMW 2.0-liter separates itself from the competition above 5000 rpm, where many similar engines start to run out of breath. The 430i charges its 6500-rpm redline hard and fast. And when you want it, the sweet spot of the powerband is just a toe tap away thanks to the standard eight-speed automatic's perfectly timed and executed shifts. Pushed to their full potential, the engine and trans are good for a 5.2-second dash to 60 mph.
The 430i's powertrain isn't just quick and lively. It's also impressively frugal-if you can keep your foot out of it. We averaged a mediocre 21 mpg during our time with the BMW, which consisted mostly of short suburban drives.
BMW's iDrive infotainment system is easy to navigate by touch and reliably quick and stable, and it offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The controls are sensibly laid out and easily within reach, and the seats-covered in leather for an extra $1450-are comfortable over long distances. Our $60,520 test car needed the $2300 Premium package to finish the interior with necessities such as heated seats, adjustable lumbar, and passive entry, but the 4-series is otherwise well equipped, which is something we haven't often said about BMWs.

The previous 430 and 428 did not have an inline 6, it also had a 4 cylinder
Beautiful car! Love the new grill design. Its modern, aggressive, and already making the small grill designs look dated. It was time to break away from the 40 year old grill design. To me the current 330 looks like the new Honda Accord. All the premium brands are following the modern design trend of big grills!

Is blindspot and lanekeeping assist standard? I ask as on the M340i / 3 series, it is in a package. I do not see it directly on the main build website. Thank you, great video. Loving the blue color, do you think a cognac interior would work with it? Cheers buddy!

the performance of this car is underwhelming.
Compared to the old model it does not look good. The grill is of course hidious, but also the rest of the car is not good. The hofmeister kink is gone, and the side profile of the car reminds me of a bad Korean copy of a late 60's Mustang Fastback, weird. I Bought the 2019 430I M-Sport in estoril blue last year. With 60 miles on the clock it was literally brand new, price was £26.000 which is abouut $36.000, a bargain compared to this new ugly model. The old model is lighter too so I think it's a little bit faster. Seing this car it's not tempting at all, I prefer the old interiour too as I hate big screens.
Comment about seat belts I don't get as seat belts are remotely presented on the old 4-series too.
Everything you said is subjective. Some people like it, you don't. The new model is definitely faster though, there's no comparison.
@@vincegold257 Well I got the old 430i, the new 430i got a few more HP, but it’s not faster as it’s also heavier. Not sure about the other models. In terms of suspension the new is “faster” but what does that matter, the speed limits are still the same so this only can be utilised on a racing track.
