@ kiril videos
Thank you! A lot of time and effort goes in to making each one. :-)
Wow u r amazing
more like cutie loaches. Can't get over how adorable they are.
@Xadrian Sandusky exactly (2 years and 2 months late)
0:17 is really cute 🥺
Wonderful closeups of these lovely friends. I got a group of kuhli loaches recently and I am enjoying them immensely. I'd been feeding mini pellets because their mouths seemed so tiny, but watching yours happpily dragging those cichlid pellets away made me realize I had been underestimating them!
Thanks for watching the video. Kuhli loaches really are fun little fish. I love their snakelike bodies and their little whiskers.
So jealous 😊
Your videos are more informative than guides I find on the web. The information is deeply, deeply appreciated.
Thank you. I do try to include as much information as I can in all of my videos! The problem I run into is what to include and what to leave out. . . :-)
Thank you for your information on the Kuhli Loach! I fell in love with them as a child. My babysitter had one in her tank and I'd watch it for HOURS! I vowed that I'd own one when I grew up! Today, I got my first pair! They are ADORABLE!! I'm SO EXCITED to add them to my community tank! As always, your content is solid, with excellent facts and advice! So glad to have you to turn to when a question arises. Thank you for another fine video, The Dave!
You are so welcome! Happy to help. :-)
who needs sound when you have superb video quality?
Awww thanks! :-)
Beautiful video, I really feel I know the little kuhli loaches I have so much better now, thank you
You're very welcome. Wonderful quirky little fish. . . It was a lot fun filming them. Cute little noodles . . . :-)
I had 5 of these guys in a 29 gal with gravel and they used to like to bury themselves in it. They'd work their way into any crevice and squirm down to the bottom. Eventually they all disappeared and I assumed they were dead. 3 years later while breaking the tank down to rebuild it I was washing the gravel and lo and behold all five of them were squirming around.
Now I have a big 40 gal breeder and 12 of these guys on the way. I used to call them my little tank noodles.
They can be very secretive and shy, so this disappearing act happens a lot. I'm glad they were all alive and well. Awesome little fish noodles. :-)
Thank you for sharing this magnificent footage of my favorite fishes! How incredible to see them close-up in such beautiful definition. Your commentary text is also excellent. Thank you!!!
Glad you enjoyed it !
I was thinking the exact stuff, and I wanted to add: great footage of them sifting the sand granules!
I'm just watching this right now and I'm smiling. Khulis are amongst my favorite fish, they remind me of a bunch of holdover hippies from the 70's. They are the party animals of an aquarium. Larger numbers can certainly give them more confidence. As well the term, "The more the merrier," was never so true! Great video!
I love how Kuhli loaches tend to disappear in a planted tank. After a while, it's easy to forget they're in there, until they magically appear at feeding time.
Superb video. So many adorable moments. I have around 60 Pangio loaches (P semicincta, P kuhli myersi, and P. oblonga). I really cherish these fish and spend a lot of time observing them, but this video,--with its spectacular close-ups--offered me a deeper perspective on these creatures. Very nicely done.
Wow, thank you very much. You are the Pangio queen ! :-D
The close up shots are simply amazing! Great videos, I hope you keep on making them!
Thanks, will do!
Wow! It's like a real research work. I never had any idea about all these things. 😀
Thanks for watching the video, and welcome to The Dave! :-)
Just a wonderful video - amazing footage, and captivating on its own without voice or music. I hope more people see this, and also realize that for most fish, providing tons of hiding places helps you see them more. I see so many barren tanks with maybe 1 ornament and 2 fake plants and people say, "But I want to SEE the fish" - not realizing they will get the most wonderful views, behaviour, and colour of many of their fish if they would just give them safe haven.
Thank you for watching my video. I agree with your observations completely! I would also like to add that natural is the way to go; lots of driftwood and live plants create a healthier and more balanced environment. Thanks again, The Dave . . .
I have been thinking about getting back into fish keeping and when I saw these fish whilst looking for something simple and cute, I knew they were the one. Your video is inspiring and informational and I love it. I've watched a few of your videos and I thank you for everything you put up
Thank for the kind words. I appreciate your support, and welcome back to a wonderful hobby.
Great. Gave me a better appreciation for our Kuhli loaches in our community tank. They are fun to watch when they are out. This was also educational. Thanks.
You're welcome :-D
Some of the shots are greatly beautiful. Good work Dave! 👍👍
Thank you Carlos. Did you know that you were my first subscriber !
I'm really glad to see that now you have many more subscribers! It's an honour to support great channels since the beginning, sometimes there are beautiful content without many views but all of us can support and let the hobbie grow in this way.
This is one of the best kuhli videos I've seen on youtube :) thx
Wow, thank you! I put a lot of time and effort into every video. So, it's nice to hear that it's appreciated. :-)
What a great video. My wife has always loved these fish so they were always part of our community tank. Over the years they’ve grown on me also but this is the first time I’ve seen information in a video about them. I’m going to purchase more so the two I have hopefully become a calmer group. Great stuff, thanks again.
You are very welcome :-D
Thanks for the great job you did with this video. I can tell not only did you do your homework, but you spent much time preparing it. Keep you the great work!
Thank you. Such great little fish . . . :-D
Another great vid! Thanks Dave! ❤️
You are welcome Rosalind ! Thank you for your support ! :-D
Excellent video! 😍 You get such amazing footage I'm always so impressed by the quality 💜 very informative as well
Thank you . . More to come soon !
Thank you very much for this awesome video. Answered all my questions about my Kuhli loach.
Excellent documentary. I enjoyed that very much. I have been a Kuhli Loach fan for decades but I still learned something plus the closeups were outstanding.
Thank you- they are great little fish.
Thank you very much for the information. Really appreciated.
Great footage. One of my first favorite fishes as a kid.
Mine too. I think everyone has had one at some point!
I really love how you make your videos, very informative with great shots without any blaring music or dumb background track going on. I'm gonna add 8 of these guys to my 20 long after this video!
Thank you for the kind words.
Been through several of your videos, I enjoy your stuff! Thank you The Dave!
Awesome, thank you!
The only other videos I have ever seen that can stand up to this one are... yours! Wow! Just... Wow!! My Kuhli loaches came out of the woodwork to watch this video. The footage of them passing gravel out their gills was amazing. My whole family got up from the dessert table where they were having tea and facebooking to come watch this video - fullscreen (27") at 1080! I can't even pay them to do that!! Are you sure you don't secretly work at National Geographic...
Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos and leave a thoughtful comment.
Quality of this video is incredible
Thank you, quality is important.
This was a wonderful, clear and beautiful video. Thank you, thank you. I have 3 Kuhil loaches in my community tank. I love to watch them interact with my other fish during feeding time. Great job!!!
Thank you very much. . . They are fun to watch.
This is BY FAR the best video on kuhlis. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
Hi! This is just great. I fell in love with Kuhlis so long ago but you are the first to provide me with such a detaild and so well presented information. I thought I do not have good habitat for Kuhlis but now I undesrtand more and see my tank as quite proper. And actually I was wondering today if leaves would work well for my guys. I think it's the first time I'm happy with Autumn :D Gonna buy more loaches this week (lost some due to moving to another town) + have walk in a park searching for material :D
Hi, thanks for watching the video. Leaves are a great addition to the tank, but, be make sure whatever leaves you collect are clean and don't have any chemicals or pesticides on them
Gorgeous footage
Thank you
So underrated little fish, great in a small community tank, one of my favourites, great production and content, easy viewing, informative and no stupid voice overs, top class thanks.
Thank you. I think most fish keepers have had one or two of these fish in a tank at some point. They're one of my favorite species too. :-D
Another excellent video Dave! Thanks for the incredible view of these small creatures.
Thank you . . . It's my passion.
And you're welcome !
I love the song you used! I think it’s “stage 7 dementia patient”.
Though actually that cinematography was beautiful.
Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to leave a comment.
They're like nutty little fish, just so adorable 💕
And easy to breed. 😊
Great video. Myself and my oldest boy (7 years old) really found it useful, and he is excited about having now! Thank you!
You're very welcome. Aquariums are a great way to learn about biology, science and nature. . . :-)
Another beautifully shot species spotlight video from The Dave (discovered/subscribed to this channel last week via the Dwarf Puffer video). Both educational and informative, top notch.
Thank you for watching another one of my videos, and your subscription. I appreciate your support. Have a spectacular day!
if i had one id call him slinky..i think they are cute the way they move around.
best educational video ever...! Thank you
You're welcome, and thank you for the kind words
Yaaay more videos davee!! I've been waiting😭😭
This is the most in depth video I've seen on a species. Thank you for the information. I now know that I can't have these in my aquarium since my water is very hard and alkaline. They are cute as hell though. A very beautiful loach.
Thank you for watching the video, and taking the time to leave a comment. :-D
>preps tank thinking I’ll never see them to make sure they’ve got places to hide
>brings home
>PARTY LIKE WACKY INFLATABLE ARM WAVING TUBE MEN!
I’m worried that there’s something wrong with them! Lol they’re amazing and basically wet gerbil noodles.
They will swim like crazy sometimes, cruising up and down the glass for hours at a time. Mine go nuts after water changes.
@@TheDave333 I never seen them before doing some research on who could go in with a Betta and tbh I just want a huge tank with nothing but kuhlis! Natures little barometers are too cute!
Why is this hobby so addictive…I want a tank room now! It’s nice to get back into fish keeping after 13 years.
It really is an addictive hobby. You know the old saying, "there are lots of fish in the sea" ? Well, that's why it's so addictive, there are just so many many fish !!! I like big tanks with lots of little fish, rather than a big tank with one or two big fish. My advice is to keep it simple. Single species setups are far less problematic than community tanks. And keep it inexpensive by using sponge filters rather than expensive canister filters, and filters where there are things to replace. Simple setups mean more time to enjoy the fish!!! :-)
@Ravi Ragsangany Yes, I agree
Nice video for this unique fish.
I love kuhli loaches. I keep a group of 12. What an incrediable video. Truely a work of art.
Thank you very much.
1 of best fish videos ive seen on youtube you did a brilliant job of explaining things and thankq for this vid ive liked and subscribed
You are most welcome. . . Thanks for watching the video and for subscribing.
Your videos are more like documentaries to me good job
Glad you like them! I like to be thorough . . . :-)
IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE SQUISHY CHEEKS.
I LOVE THEM
Many people call them " noodles " ( the fish, not their cheeks ) :-D
@@TheDave333 _they're still adorable and i'd die for them_
They are very adorable, but no need to die! They're only like 3-4 $ each ! :-D
Thank you for yet another exemplary video!
You're very welcome, and thank you for watching it. I'll be releasing a new one this weekend !
This is an amazing video because of the detailed shots and great information.
Thank you so much for such a helpful video!
You gained a new subscriber today.
Thank you very much for the positive feedback, and your subscription. :-D
lovely footage
thank you
4:24 Did that fish just blink?
Yes, sort of. It has a *nictitating membrane* that can come down over the eye. Sharks have something similar. Nice catch!!!
This is, by far, the best video there is about Khuli loach care 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
(And I’ve seen a lot!)
Thank you so much! 😁
Amazing video as always Dave. Thank you
You're welcome ! :-D
4:24 Did he just blink?!?!?!?!??!?!
Sort of. It's a protective membrane known as the nictitating membrane. Shark have a similar protective "eyelid." Very strange.
Great video!
Thanks!
My Kuhlis are the stars of my aquarium, fooling around, playing and ever exploring (So I guess they are happy).
Sometimes, they wake me up at night with their loud splashings!
Very beautifully done and so informative! Thanks for your time and effort to educate about this adorable little fish.
You are welcome, and thank you for watching the video. :-D
Awesome video! Ty so much, I am planning to keep 4-8 of them in a 20-30 gallon. I’m definitely going to see if I can get them to breed? Or at least live a very long fulfilled life!
Go for it! They're really cool little fish.
Thanks for the informatie! What an amazing and fascinating fish :) .Saw them in the store and fell in love. What kind of plants are dens enough for them ? So I can make them really happy. I want to make a tank for them and some Otocinclus arnoldi.
Most plants will do just fine. Java fern would work. It's inexpensive and easy to grow, but it grows slowly. Driftwood helps with hiding places.
Another amazing video mate!! You definitely rock it !!! 👍👍👍
Thanks. The fish do most of the work ! :-)
I have one in a 55g tank that will be for shrimp. I just ordered 10. Can't wait for them to get here. Glad I found this video. Will check to see more recent ones. Thank you
You're very welcome. :-)
You name them George and you hug them and squeeze them and love them to death. LOL
All of my Pangios have names! And I can tell them all apart, even the Pangio oblonga. :)
Thanks The Dave
You're welcome
Wow, great video! I was thinking of getting a Kuhli Loach but after seeing this, I want 8. I loved the ultra clean zoom and the info. I also loved when you're showing the substrate coming out of the gills. Fascinating stuff. That video was an experience! It's my first time watching one of your video and you've got a new subscriber now.
Awesome! Thank you! Kuhli loaches are wonderful little fish.
It' s just pure beauty, man. Thank you for good work.
You're welcome.
I think one fact that wasn’t mentioned in this (correct me if I’m wrong) is that they require very stable conditions. You don’t want to put them through huge water changes, temperature changes or high levels of nitrates.
You are correct, and that can be said of most fish. Some like the Khuli Loach, are more tolerant than others.
Great video! Thank you!
I had one of these for 3 years, until it found its way out of the tank by jumping during a water change, without me seeing it,so I found the poor thing dried up like a chili peper.
Thanks for watching the video. I am always saddened when I lose one of my little friends. . . .
this Video was very informative and very well done. Thanks Dave
You are very welcome, thanks for watching it. :-D
Appreciate the work you put into your videos!
Thank you! And I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. :-D
I love kuhli loaches
me too !
Awesome video. I love these loaches but my water is too hard to keep them. I'll have to leave it to someone more experienced. 💚🐠💚
Thanks for checking out my video ! That's a shame about your water supply. . . . 1/2 rain water and 1/2 tap water maybe ??
One tank I used to have had 10 kuhli loaches and 6 glass cats, they both reproduced. They were in a 30 gal. tank in my bedroom, so it wasn't as bright or as active around it as my other tanks. I only did a water change on it about every 3 weeks, so it was pretty much undisturbed most of the time. I had a night light with a blue Christmas tree bulb in it that I sat on the glass hood so I could see them at night. :)
That's awesome . . . Simple is usually the best.
Amazing video, never saw them so close and read in detail
Thank you very much!
haha, they actually look pretty cute. I'm getting a bunch of new plants so I might pick a few of these up if I see them around. I have a bunch of cories and a pleco though, I don't know if they'd do too well with them?
They should be fine together.
Stunning video, great info just needs a little sound
Thanks for watching the video. All of my more recent documentaries use narration, so there's sound. :-)
I have a colony of six Khuli in a heavily planted 120 litre. They are extremely fascinating, sociable and peaceable fish, I love watching their antics. Your photography is superb. Thank you.
They are very interesting fish ! Thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment.
What a great video! Thank you so much for sharing. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for watching the video. . . I am in the process of making a video about Assassin snails. It will probably introduce many people to things that they have never seen before !
my favourite fish, but don’t have them at the moment. miss those night diggings 😂
Have you ever kept KIllifish? They are my favorite at the moment.
The Dave i watched your video, they are amusing, but local market is none existing. even if you get killifish, crickets will be a problem)
You could always start your own culture of white worms or grindal worms to feed the killifish. Or they will take flake food, but they may not breed without live food.
I wish fish were hugable, why do they have to be so cute
Big fish can be hugged, but they don't like it. :-D
@@TheDave333 That's true, scooba diving is going to be very hard for me. I love and respect fish but I wish with all of my heart to reach out and give them little pats.
I know exactly what you mean! :-D
Love these guys! Thanks for the informative video.
you are very welcome. They were tough subjects to capture !
Thank you for a great informative video. I too love these loaches. I have 6 in a 40 gallon along with 6 Pygmy corys and about 40 blue dream neocardinia shrimp. There are plenty of hiding places and they all get along well together. I regularly see the loaches during the day especially when it is feeding time.
You're welcome, and thanks for watching the video. Your tank sounds lovely. What a great aquarium community. Blue dream shrimp are one of my favorites. :-)
6:37 This actually happened to mine just after the first week I got him. I found him one morning inside the filter, still alive! He has been dubbed Sharkbait. Got a sponge cover for the intake after that.
Good thinking, and at the same time you've also increased the biological filtration on your filter. Win- win !!! Thanks for watching the video. :-D
I found mine inside the canister filter! Surprisingly and thankfully it was still alive. I’ve covered the intake of my canister now with some fine netting.
i have a question, my friend gave me a 1 loach . When it got in the tank. It was fine. Hiding. But after an hour O saw it swimming so fast around the tank up and down, I got it yesterday. During night and day, it will hide few moments later it will swim in front of the tank up and down and around. Im so worried is it normal or is it stressed out? Please help.
That's actually very normal behavior. Mine sometimes do it for days! A lot of the time, it's right after I do a water change. It will stop after a while. Their mating behavior is a somewhat similar.
@@TheDave333 thank you so much for replying. I thought it feels threatened or something because hes alone with different kind of fish in my tank.
You're very welcome. He should be fine, as long as the other fish are not aggressive. Kuhli loaches like to hide, and are a little shy, but it's always a nice treat when they do make an appearance. Be sure to provide places for it to hide.
the "Kholi Dance" is as majestic as it is random. As they age it tends to stop, but young once dance every day.
Plenty of valuable knowledge about fish Kuhli loach. I have knew so little about them before, they seem to be funny and joyful fishes. Time to know them more.
Thank you for watching another video my friend. They are a wonderful fish to have. They like to hide a lot, but when they do come out to play, it's always nice to see them.
I just received a recommendation by an aquarist friend to add a pair or trio to my blackwater betta tank. Thanks for this wonderful instructional video!
You are very welcome, and have a spectacular day!
Just watched this again for the I don't know how many time. lol. I'm sure that it won't be the last time. I'm getting several Pangio oblonga in a few days with several Pangio kuhli in a month or so. My water pH stays at about 7.0, sometimes 7.4 so I hope that they do well. I think stability is most important.
You are correct. Fish are pretty adaptable, and stability is far more important than a precise pH. Best of luck with the oblonga, and thanks for watching my videos. :-D
My Khuli's (Pangio) have been happy for a year now and my water is very hard, My ph is 8.2. They live with a pea puffer and 2 Amano shrimp. I keep the water very clean with sand and plants. I only have 2, I found them at a swap meet, I want to get more but haven't seen them anywhere. I love these guys!
They may be bottom dwellers but I will tell you they are jumpers. Keep your lids on tight unless you want to find them dried out like a worm on the driveway.
Great advice - they have also been known to just hang out on wet areas just above the waterline.
Excellent video i have 5 coming this week can't wait!
Great video, Dave! Very informative. I only wish that you spoke in this video like in the Mystery Snail one. Your voice in that one was very calming, and made it feel like a documentary, haha.
I am going to use narration from here on out. Please watch my latest video entitled "Secrets Of The Polypterus" It uses narration . . . Let me know what you think . . I'm still trying to find the real me !!!
can kuhli loach combined with many diff kind of shrimp? for example Red cherry. I also have plenty of shrimp fry. is it safe for the dry if I add kuhli loach?
I understand that they don't bother shrimp, but how about the fry? thanks
The Kuhli loaches seem to leave both the adults and their shrimplets alone. However, you never can tell what happens when the lights go out. . .
Have you ever gone all out on shrimp and tried all different colors patterns and even tried selling them??
Because my dad wants to sell shrimp but all of the shrimp died because of a catfish we thought died actually just hibernated and ate them all
I've never tried breeding them in large numbers for sale. Funny story with the catfish ! They do disappear sometimes, and then suddenly show up one day out of nowhere. . .
I loved this video and all the knowledge you shared! I have many times heard that they were scaless fish but now see they are wrong! So much information I did not know! Thank you so much for sharing Dave!
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching the video and sharing your thoughts.
I appreciate your support.
Love this video, brilliant camera work and very informative,
Thank you!
Sad that they are taken from the wild. I really wanted kuhli loaches but not anymore...
The same goes for Dwarf Puffer's and most salt water species . . .
I have silver Kuhli loaches do they have about the same requirements and life span?
I believe so yes, and they're more likely to breed. :-)
Had kuhlis before, saw them when I put them in and again a few years later when I tore down aquarium to move, glad to see your doing better.
They are a pretty cryptic fish.
This is great. Thanks very much. Liked, subscribed and saved this video.
Awesome, thank you!
