ISWJYxual having that one higher string as well as the booming string that the five strings have may be a bit too much at times but for melodic and orchestral type atmospheres they are great, metal as well, though five strings usually suffice for that.
Personally I find them super useful just from the perspective that you can play a wider range of notes without ever having to move your hand up or down the neck.
God Christ Jesus bless you all and have a wonderful day my family, also agreed, 6 string basses are beautiful, theyre somber, yet romantic, and even able to be played in a wild variety of ways like the standard guitar, such as funk, classical, + so on, or simply just as well, Bass 😄
The finger noise that shows up at 1:02 and 1:18 give the melody an absolutely haunting undertone. I know that’s probably not intentional, but oh my goodness does it really make it sound like somebody’s reliving a horrifying moment of their life years after it occurred. It’s incredible.
Oh dear!! I was looking for a bass player to not use crazy technique and actually brings out melody and harmony out of this almighty instruments. Thanks for sharing and hope you add more.. "Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art." Frederic Chopin
@skeleton There was no insult there. Knowing when to play less is a skill as well, and a very important one. There was no impressive shred here, but it's not needed. Tasteful melodic playing will almost always be the best option for a bass solo
That was beyond beautiful. I just starting out playing bass. This piece just moved me to want to learn this awesomeness on this beautiful six string...
this is lovely. i like this kind of bass solo instead of just tapping, shred, or other noises. bass sounds always full of mystery for me. thanks for uploading this video bro.
when this first started i was about to go to sleep and i was like meh this is going to be a long video, by the time it ended I wish it was twice as long. Really fantastic
+César Leonardo Vallarta Moreno Thank you very much and thanks for watching. Im so glad to hear you enjoyed it. This may likely get turned into a longer composition.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the music! Yes, it wasn’t an easy decision to let that bass go. Unfortunately the neck carve was too thin for me, but my current imperial is a major improvement in every regard (except appearance).
Despite this tune being somber, I found this rather relaxing. Recently I found a 6 string bass at Guitar Center, and almost wanted to pick it up, but not after doing some research... which eventually landed me here. You, sir, have given me a great impression on what a 6 string bass is capable of, and I must thank you for this video. I'm gonna look you up on iTunes as well! I'm, lastly, a self taught guitarist and plan on learning how to do a bit of bass guitar. Recently too I got myself a 9 string guitar and am exploring things around with that instrument. Thanks again for this video, it's somber, but relaxing in my ears.
It's been such a long time since I've heard something this powerful, I feel as if I've heard it before.. I haven't though, this is what I look for in music. I love it. Thank you.
Just saw where you shared the chord progression and wanted to say that's awesome that you're the kind of musician that wants to help those inspired by your music! kudos and will definitely be following from now on!
I purchased a 6 string BTB on a whim at a pawn shop just shopping for a weed eater- I usually play 5, but you have demonstrated that the 6 is excellent for very atmospheric music.
Times like this I wish I had a normal 6 string bass or a 7 string - my 6 string is set up for a low F# instead of high C, and I'd love to play high melodic stuff like this. So beautiful.
I've been playing bass for 4 or 5 years (and guitar for 15 years) mainly on 4 strings. I've had one 5 string, but I felt like I was limited on it. When I think of bass in all its glory, I think of stuff like this! I'd definitely love to get my hands on a 6 string bass!
Damian I've played guitar all my life and I just wanted to let you know your style was one of the motivating factors for me going out and buying a new GSR Ibanez206 6 string this week, I absolutely love it. I'm playing it a whole step down, what tuning are you normally playing in here?
What bass is that that you use? Sounds really nice. I am a very average player and starting to play 6 string. Your composition are inspiring me. I have learnt the chords of the moon breeze in the garden. Will go to apple music and enjoy the full album......
Hello Steve, It is a custom Fodera Emperor. So glad you find it inspiring! There are 3 albums on apple music now and a fourth will be there January 14th. That one called 'Year In Review' will have this composition.
Sounds like a loop that would be in a main menu of a game, it’s giving last of us vibes but more Mexican I guess? Idk it’s beautiful and I’m very glad someone plays this instrument like this.
Stunning. Absolutely sublime. Such restraint, emotion, depth. From one musician to another, thank you so much for this. By the way, what kind of bass is that? Phenominal music, good sir.
I recently ordered a six string bass with the idea that it will help with writing and taking a larger role in a band. I was very nervous about my choice because it was both expensive, and I've yet to see a 6 string player who wasn't using one for funk or metal (since I have a very lyrical playing style) this helped me reassure myself, thanks!
I must say, as a person which his main axe is an ibby btb1826 premium 6 string bass (astonishingly well crafted and great sounding and feeling and looking bass might I say...) I have to mention that there is room for many, many different playing styles you can use and expand on with the virtually endless possibilities that a good six string bass gives you.. You can play easily like you would on a normal 4 string, you can play extremely melodically (as seen in this video), you can play really nice chord voicings (and melodic/harmonic playing at once), and you on the flip side you can play funk, you can shred, and above all that you can do anything in between, and beyond. The thing is, having a six just gives you more options that allow you more easily to play melodically/harmonically/what ever way you wish to play. But you can play (at least to a certain degree) in any way you want with any instrument. An instrument is just an instrument, regardless of it's properties (number of strings for example) you can express yourself through it, and your playing style will cater itself through the instrument you are playing. This works both ways.... If you get a new instrument, be sure that you will be able to play how you (as a person with musical tendencies) will normally play (in terms of style), and there is absolutely no reason to be nervous about it...

Amazing master
Very nice. Love to see it on spotify
What kind on Bass is that?
David Powers hello, here is some information about this bass: electrifiedbass.net/damian-coccio-6-string-fodera-emperor/
Why does it sound relaxing?
Finally a bass solo that isn't just shredding and slapping! Absolutely beautiful. Crazy how much can touch us like this.
I can tell you're definitely one who feels music. Absolutely fantastic.
Great Googly Moogly thank you! So glad you enjoyed the music and felt something from it.
Your videos inspired me to switch to EADGC tuning.
OMG that's NOT EPIC. What do you say @Davie504
Dude this is not a 6 string bass solo, this is a MASTERPIECE.
Anis Boucheneb Thank you so glad you enjoyed it!
Oh so that's how you use a 6 string bass.
agreed lol
God Christ Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day my family
I always thought 6 string basses weren't necessary... you completely changed my mind with this
Thank you, they definitely have their place :) I

Is anything ever really necessary...?
Loljk it's all for fun

I feel the same way
The bass is beautiful, even more so is the music. It's been a while since I heard music this powerful! :)
Thank you Geert, so glad you enjoyed the music. Thanks for watching and commenting.
God Christ Jesus bless you both, have a wonderful day my family
and agreed
This would make even Glen Fricker love bass
He loves bass. He just hates the players who don't give it the attention it deserves.
He likes bass dude, but he hate the bad bass players
He would expect that a bass player would replace his strings and learn his instrument.
Rule #2
One of the bassist Glenn Fricker likes

you changed my outlook on bass guitars today.
Thank you, hopefully in a good way, regards, Damian
My next bass is definitely going to be a 6 string. That C just adds something magical
Its so beautiful. You sing through your bass. Really love it...
I love 6 strings + widen Bass - it is the whole recipe to the Music, by creating the ambient to every tone with soft atmospheric.
Beautiful work of art !
Thank you very much Auden
