I've seen several people on Patreon us the platform to build their following. Then move to their own website and offer membership that way to have control over their money.
It's definitely a valid use for Patreon! I've seen many creators thrive on the platform! I think it all depends on how you plan to use it for which platform will support your cause the best! 😊

They are Not using patreon to "Build their following" they already have a Following. they use Patreon to get More Money, and alot of Dumb people give it to them.

Thank you. How do you feel about the security of your artwork/content on any of these sites? For example, I am thinking about showing a lot of behind-the-scenes/development content for my films, stories, and projects, but I have that tiny voice in the back of my head that is warning me about sharing too much. Does BMC let you have different "pages," or is it just one main page to access your content on there after the user pays any amount to support you? Imagine a random who finds your page and pays a small support fee, and then they may have access to all your content. I guess I am worried about images particularly and copyright, maybe some AI-phobia as well, etc.
These are great questions! I can only share my personal thoughts on this as I don't have first hand experience on this matter. I recommend reaching out to BMC's support for questions and concerns about how they protect creators content. But sharing my personal opinion, I think it's important to be choosy of what you decide to share online. anything you don't want to be "public" may eventually find it's way to being public, even through a paywall. even if legal actions can be taken in the matter, financially, it may not be a viable option. With that said, as a content consumer, I live being able to see behind the scenes of the inter-workings of my favorite channels and creators. But I recommend you only share the things you are comfortable with "everyone" knowing :) so you can show the "equipment" used, the lighting, the set, and your daily vlog or routine type content. But maybe, if you have trademarks that you aren't comfortable with being common knowledge, you can omit those details but still share the inter-workings and behind the scenes process but just leaving out the specifics :) that's just my personal thoughts! I hope it helps!
Additionally, BMC does offer several different levels (similar to Patreon) when it comes to the monthly membership content. But I still recommend only sharing content that you feel comfortable with sharing. The Internet is still in the "wild West" phase in my opinion and it's hard to protect all the content and intellectual properties that are shared on it. Especially artistic and creative properties, the laws and rights of those aren't quite clear at this point. So I usually recommend to others to simply share things that they are ok with not being "their own".

Great question! I have done only brief research so far on Ko-fi. But my opinion so far from the research I have done is that I still prefer buy me a coffee over Kofi. BMC is completely free to use, and you only pay the 5% fee when you receive donations or purchases from your shop listings :) kofi can be free to use as well and you can remove that commission fee they take if you subscribe to their gold membership. There are pros to kofi like they support PayPal, which BMC has recently stopped supporting payments through and only pay creators through stripe now. Personally I feel you get more options from BMC before you are expected to pay anything (which is only when you receive money, or have received orders from your shop). But each platform has their own pros and cons. Those are the most prominent differences between the two in my opinion :)

That's a great question! And an easy one to answer! I have had my BMC page since i started UA-cam, that means day 1, absolutely zero subscribers and maybe one or 2 videos :) they have absolutely no social media requirements for you to have a BMC page! My guess is they ask for your social media info so they can connect you as a person to what you do to avoid bots from creating a miriad of useless pages and fraud. But, regardless, you can be big or small as an influencer or creative spirit and accept donations from BMC :) that's a big reason why I've been with them from the beginning!

You don't have to pay to make a page on BMC! As I mentioned in the video there is a small fee that is charged when you receive donations through the platform that covers the cost of processing the payment :). 4:58

Hi! 😀 Welcome to the channel! Through Buy Me A Coffee, when someone donates on their it processes through stripe and whatever account you connected to your stripe account. Which can include PayPal, apple pay, etc. :)
So I came to search, because I’ve been emailing for a few months and finally I got a response a few days ago but I’m unable to get them to explain why I’m not receiving my money when at first I was . They are not making it clear what I need to do and every day. I’m getting a quick answer there Hass to be somewhere I can chat. A virtual texting chat? It’s too long to wait every day with no guidance
How interesting! I've mostly worked with them through email but it does usually take a day ( or a couple if it's the weekend) to get a reply. I had a bit of an issue once with funds taking a really long time to process, i ended up needing to talk with my bank because the auto transfer was getting paused for some reason. That would be my first suggestion is to check with your bank and see if they see any reason why the funds aren't processing. As far as finding a good avenue to talk with them more immediately, I'll look through my video notes again and see if I can find the chat resource that they have and share that with you when I find it ❤️

It’s too long to wait every day with no guidance
How interesting! I've mostly worked with them through email but it does usually take a day ( or a couple if it's the weekend) to get a reply.
I had a bit of an issue once with funds taking a really long time to process, i ended up needing to talk with my bank because the auto transfer was getting paused for some reason. That would be my first suggestion is to check with your bank and see if they see any reason why the funds aren't processing.
As far as finding a good avenue to talk with them more immediately, I'll look through my video notes again and see if I can find the chat resource that they have and share that with you when I find it ❤️
