I had an XBR500 around 1990. Very nice bike, I remember mine had a problem with the engine at idle revving far too much, no matter what. Unfortunately it then was stolen (parked by my house), and I did not ride a motorcycle for about 6 years after that (being a student). (Now I have a brand new V Strom 650A, after a Varadero 1000, VFR750, CBR1000 and an XT500.) Now and then I see an XBR500, last week at a motorshop nearby. The wheels have really really very distinctive look. I dont know of another bike with Comstar wheels with holes in it.

Hello, I have a Xbr and I am having trouble with it. It’s ‘86 with 42k with a predator exhaust, it seems to be very sluggish after 3.5-4k revs and it struggles to get past sort of 45-50mph. Starts up first turn. Iv cleaned out the carb and tried to up the main jet with no avail. Have you had any problems with yours in the past.
Iv read something about vacuum piston in the top of the carb? Would problems with this give these sort of symptoms?
    Any info would be appreciated.

Hope you are on standard air box. Google Valve Clearances and you will dibgmd a Honda mod paper that shows carb jets and beware valve Clearances to use

@@MotorcycleReclamation Without an engine overhaul? Im also considering buying one with 60k miles on it but im a bit hesitant because of the mileage

Probably the phone I'm using for videos, I'm after a camera setup. Motor is fine no top or bottom end noise. Exhaust is ok for what it is but the twin pipes are always best on these.

@@MotorcycleReclamationah right makes sense now lol my bike sounds ruff in videos too. I'm after a bandit myself very similar looking, is it air cooled?

@@Mt24855 Yes, air cooled (also why can be noisy) 500cc single. Lovely bikes, had my 1st in 1986 got 3. See my other video of red one with 93k miles
