This is my shitty tldr; Girl is a white german (mom) and african french? forgot (dad) who fell in love with a hitler youth teen whos father was a high ranking officer of the SS served WW1 but dislikes his son joining the war cause he wants to shelter him cause he knows what happens to young enthusiastic child sent to war idk anyway (plot point later). The two met each other accidentally think bumping to each other romcom style then he wants to get to know her, they found a secret place like a lake or something but as the war progresses they separated he was stationed as an SS guard by his father for him to be farther from the frontlines. Then she was separated to her mom iirc because finding a job and or segragated and sterilization idk its been a long time but before that two lovers last meeting they did the shmex and she got preggo which she has to hide because she was supposed to be sterilized then coincidentally at the camp she was sent to Hans yup the guy was also the guard there then Idk watch the movie or something if I remember it I will give you the spoilers to the ending idk if you guys want... so yup here ya go bros

But cue in cinematic slow mo shiz they were nearing eachother open arms smiling seeing his and her lover trying their daring escape then *_BOOM_* headshot in the head by his dad and slumped like a dead dog. Why his dad do that? idk I have 3 interpretation to that is first principle of it something they talked on the first half second he knows its a lost cause and lastly imo he killed his son knowing that the americans are going to kill all of them cause they are SS and their is no hope for them rather than seeing his son hanged he killed him with his own hands instead then killed himself? idk I dont remember. Then seeing dad Hans she was like Oh my god shocked on wtf happened til Merica with their freedom helped her up comes to take her.
