That's a 2400W Breville kettle! I think you were expecting to see a dot in there, but check the power meter again...it's going full noise. Doesn't matter though - This looks like a nice B550 board. Love my B450 Steel Legend as recommended by you.
I would say it is more important to look at how much power is being converted into heat a kettle is converting a lot more of the watts into heat than what a CPU would be.
@@D1_D0N-n6d In all fairness its ok. Both the kettle and cpu are essentially 100% efficient at converting the electrical energy into thermal energy - most of which will end up in the water. In regards to reaching an equilibrium the kettle isnt a great demo since a water cpu water loop both dissipates the energy far quicker but also puts it into the water at a lesser rate.
Thanks for the breakdown Brian. Just bought this b550 for AUD$249. Did some comparisons and I was looking for a good amount of USB ports in the rear and a USB-C front connection without paying a fortune. This fit the bill nicely at a good price point. Looking forward to getting it into the case!

Kinda ironic you reviewed this board the day after I gave up on it. Constant BSOD since day one. I thought it might have been the fact that I brought a Windows 10 SSD from my previous rig over that was causing it, so I did a fresh W10 install and the BSOD got worse! Too bad because otherwise I liked it.
Those mosfets aren't bad, but to be honest peak efficiency will be at 50A IF the thermal solutions are good. The same goes for the inductors as in this case they are being used as a heatsink, it's sharp though given the positions of the regulators. Not a bad board in any case don't misunderstand me, though I dislike the marketing tricks boasting numbers. The frequency filters are good, and this board should behave very stable under higher voltage if possible to maintain good airflow.

As far as I can tell, color schemes aside, this is the same as the B550 Extreme4 with heatpipes, which is the same as the B550 Steel Legend with Power and Reset Buttons.
When it comes to boards, that one looks quite good, seems like it's very solid performer. However, why, why do vendors keep putting rgb on a board that already has color accents. Do really like the I/O on it, but for me personally I think for me I'd be going for the B550 Extreme 4 if I stick with ATX. For ITX it's a toss up between the Aorus Pro AX and the phantom gaming itx (if I can remove/paint that godawful red/black cover though). Edit: upon further inspection (ie, put glasses on) the Extreme 4 is plastered with blue all over. The board blue itself.
I was able to get B550 Taichi for $460AUD and in my case, it's much better and for only $120 more. The system is used for a bit of everything, a lot of storage, encoding/workloads, entertainment, and also daily use. And the occasional game. I want to keep it for 3-5 years (or more) and want future options in terms of upgrade paths depending on what happens. A better GPU, better CPU, more storage, faster storage, more RAM etc. The key differences.. this board only has 6 SATA ports and if a second m.2 is used, 3 of them become disabled. Also, the m.2 wifi slot is in a bad location, and a wifi card isn't provided (adding further cost), no USB flashback or CMOS reset button on the back. Also, I use a 2.5 slot GPU, so there's only one PCIE expansion port for an internal sound card or DVB-T2 card. Other than that, it's a pretty decent board.. good for an OC'd system I guess, if you only want to run a few SATA devices or 1 m.2 drive.. and don't need many any extra PCIE cards. There might be better options though, there's so many choices out there.. it's really a personal decision based on your own use case. The VRM on boards are usually decent lately (especially on B550).. it's not like it was a few years ago. I like Asrock's boards of the last few years on AM4 platform. Even the X470 Taichi is great. Back in the old days I used to think it was only Gigabyte vs ASUS.. but times have changed.
Newer gen parts have better potential. However, potential does not always translate into real use. My 2600X/B450 build beat 93% of 3600/B550 builds tested at Userbenchmark for $200 less, validated.
