In my humblest of opinions, there are few, if any, better manufacturers of basses than Warwick. The feel, sound, and looks are amazing. I've got a Corvette $$, and I love it more every time I play it
Agreed. Warwick set the bar years ago, not only by going completely carbon neutral in manufacturing, but by being an industry leader in production and QC. Not to mention the design team for their custom builds.
Always enjoy listening to Nathan play, and now he's dropping knowledge! Poor Nathan, all alone, fiddling with his own knobs because no one else is there to fiddle with them...
The intro sounds AMAZING, Nathan !!! Talent sure runs DEEP in the King family. Your bass playing is better than most bass players, Nathan. That fill on Peg was sick ! That TONE is the best !!!
I can’t see a Thumb without thinking of Jack Bruce, who favoured a fretless model later in his career. I saw his live solo gig at the Clapham Grand back in the 90s - a true artist, the wee man was.
It would be cool if they got nate a partner that played some motorhead and rancid type stuff. Would be sweet to see some punk and metal stuff on some of these vids
Poor Nathan ☺️ cast out to the rough seas of video presenting without a shipmate in the dinghy with him. Like Morcombe without Wise, like Laurel without Hardy like Ant without Dec. Great job mate but hopefully soon you can get a partnership back in the studio soon as these videos are the highlight of a long week. Oh, the Thumb is a great sounding bass.
16.5mm is standard Warwick 5 string spacing. If you need something wider i'm sure the Warwick custom shop could build the same bass with a 'broadneck' option which would have a 20mm spacing on the 5 string.
I appreciated coming along on Nathan's Journey of Knowledge. Anderton's videos have always been a great Journey of Knowledge. I found the channel several years ago trying to answer the question, "What's a Squier?" Still learning.
Nathan is the Ultimate Bass Boomer. He plays anything in any style, but doesn't care he doesn't know what bass specs mean. Just plays bass. I wonder if he's endorsed by GHS... ;)
Man, I'm a drummer and I want one of these bases. They are making them for left-handers, the Thumb BO. I'd be mental to buy one because I'm not even a bass player, but man o man I still want one.
Beautiful basses, but not for me. I had a Spector 5, and it had the pickups close together near the bridge. Could never get enough bass tone out of it.
Will you guys PLEASE tell us if the bass balances on a strap. This bass looks like a neck dive job. You explain fretboard radius and talk about how the knobs work-nothing about neck dive. It’s important!! I know you have to SELL PRODUCT but a bit of honesty would be good for your reputation.
As a guitar tech, almost every single warwick I've ever seen has either had a twisted neck (and they only use one truss rod) or they have delamination issues, or both. Warwick is the new Rickenbacker, overpriced JUNK.
Yeah im with Toxic Potato, you clearly played some poorly taken care of Wareicks lol. I've played some $400 warwicks made in China that play better than $1400 Fenders lol so whats your point?
I've only played 1 Warwick bass. This was WAY back in the mid 1990's.i was very eager to give this bass a try because it had a 2-Tek bass bridge.(At the time it was touted as the holy grail of bass bridge design) Anyways, I did not like the feel of this bass at all !!!----It felt very MACHINE made. No TLC in the feel at all.---I asked the guy at the music store and he said to me "I don't like it either".---Sorry, but if I'm paying thousands on an instrument it's gotta play nice, sound nice, talk nice, look nice.---You're squeezing my wallet, i'm squeezing you !!!
To each their own I guess. One of the best sounding and playing basses I've every had. Best part is, it's versatility. I play in deathcore bands and old school jazz and blues bands. The thumb puts out some of the best tones for any genre and every sound enginer and producer I played with talks about how amazing it cuts through a mix. In terms of feel, it was odd at first to handle but after some hard earned hours it fits like a glove! Everyone has their preferences 😁
Like i said Dr. Bassentein, i have only played 1.And this was way back about 25 years ago. I know Jack Bruce played them and he was my idol.I'm not knocking them, i'm just saying that the very one i played was a lemon. Bad cut ? I don't know.
If anyone from Anderton’s is reading these comments. Nathan’s videos are absolutely the best, and I’m not even a bass player!
I actually love you!
I would love to see a "captain meets nathan."
Josh Diaz Captain meets Nathan, and his big brother
Nathan always sounds great.
In my humblest of opinions, there are few, if any, better manufacturers of basses than Warwick. The feel, sound, and looks are amazing. I've got a Corvette $$, and I love it more every time I play it
I just ordered a $$NT and I’ve been stalking the UPS tracking ever since.

Yeah. If there was only someone else to fiddle with Nathan's knob

The pickup placement on the 5 string is to help tighten up the sound of the B string by putting them closer to the bridge.
I can’t see a Thumb without thinking of Jack Bruce, who favoured a fretless model later in his career. I saw his live solo gig at the Clapham Grand back in the 90s - a true artist, the wee man was.
Hurray! You were missed.
Great to see - and hear - you again Nathan! Lovely stuff with the Steely Dan.
It was interesting to learn something about the radius of the neck and how it's depending on the type of bass guitar.
Your explanation was clearly!
It would be cool if they got nate a partner that played some motorhead and rancid type stuff. Would be sweet to see some punk and metal stuff on some of these vids
that would be awesome, and would give better idea of the basses/sounds.. not that the groove playing is boring by any means..
Sounds amazing.... still has the unmistakable 'Warwick growl'
It's nice to hear you play, Nathan.
All about the Bass ♥️🤘
Peg is a good song! I used to own a Thumb about ten years ago...
Nice demo, sir! I'm sorely tempted!
What is this? Some kind of ultra-baritone guitar?
That looks pretty sick!
No, I'm OK but thanks anyway 😉
Great 👍 demos !!! He’s my fav demo guy .
Never knew that about the radius of the neck! Makes sense. I'm not really much of a player.
Thumb! 😍😍😍😍😍
Omg Nathan that was great~ I wish you kept going with Peg

Nah, I'm good! 🤣
So, do they make them left handed as well?
That's how you demonstrate a bass, by playing along a track. How it sits in a mix tells me more about a bass than anything else.
So finally they have GPS integrated. No chance for robbers to steal your bass anymore!
Random question but is Lee the bassist still at Andertons?
What's the bridge string spacing on the 5 ??
16.5mm is standard Warwick 5 string spacing. If you need something wider i'm sure the Warwick custom shop could build the same bass with a 'broadneck' option which would have a 20mm spacing on the 5 string.
I would like to ask this model still has any problem about neck of guitar bass ?
Why is the pickup position different from the 5 string to the 4 string basses? Why couldn’t they just leave them the same?
I appreciated coming along on Nathan's Journey of Knowledge. Anderton's videos have always been a great Journey of Knowledge. I found the channel several years ago trying to answer the question, "What's a Squier?" Still learning.
You should do a vid of the 3 schecter basses on epic deal
Haha! Yeah, that should have happened....
Warwicks are always sound like Warwick any of their guitars))))
Can I play songs by MAHOGANY RUSH on these basses?
This bass really needs the active engaged to sound decent.
The intro jam sounds like Casiopea. xD
dunno what that is, but i can say that intro jam was Steely Dan - Peg from the album Aja
@@KeeperOfPoops thanks
what does gps stand for?
German pro series
why cant you and Mark do one of these
Mark who?
You should have played 'Do You Know Where You're Going To' by Diana Ross

I love you! 😍
Awww you cut off Peg just before the slap bass 😂😂😂
Warwick Thumb has to be the ugliest bass in mass production :D
Really? I think it looks great
It’s the most beautiful bass I even seen since 30 years ago!
@@jeg1972 Really! :D :D :D
Wait, you say it's ugly then you're still happy about agreeing with him?
make up your mind
@@KeeperOfPoops I responded to @John Gardner :)

Not sure I can handle wild mahogany. Tame mahogany is much more my style.
Beautiful basses, but not for me. I had a Spector 5, and it had the pickups close together near the bridge. Could never get enough bass tone out of it.
Sounded to me like the "Tone" was working quite well in Passive Mode.. Must be the rhombus Mahogany!! Or, maybe, Nathan's thumb. (⌐■_■)

Made of mahogany or in German mahooganey!
