I wanted to pop down here and say that Maid cafes usually aren't a sexual thing though and aren't advertised as such. When I went, Any kind of cellphone pictures of the maids or touching was strictly prohibited. It's more of a celebration of cute culture and the concept of "Moe" (which is it's own can of worms tbh) but honestly with how weird people are about the costumes and how they tend to be treated in media, I can see how people would think otherwise.
I'll say this about the whole Titanic situation: The reason it was so appalling was because a disproportionate number of the survivors were wealthy men who bought up the life boats while an disproportionate number of the victims were poor women and children who were subsequently left to die after those wealthy men took the lifeboats. THAT was the controversy, and the shame, and the guilt. Would I sacrifice myself to save a random asshole? Maybe not. But I know damn well I'd have a real hard time, even facing certain death, condemning an innocent child to that fate in my stead.
