- THE Scottish independence referendum made history a decade ago by allowing 16 and 17-year-olds to vote for the first time in the UK.
Of the 3.6million who cast their ballot on breaking up the union, some 100,000 were in that younger age group.
Youth campaigners had argued that if people could get married at 16 and pay taxes, they should also get a say in how the country is run.
Holyrood later introduced the same age rules for Scottish Parliament and local council elections.
Ahead of the referendum’s tenth anniversary tomorrow, we catch up with eight Scots who voted for the first time in the poll as teens.
They reveal whether they were in the Yes or No camp on September 18, 2014 - and where their loyalties would lie now should there be an IndyRef2.

What is clear from these interviews and answers...............16 is too young to vote...............and 45% of us are too stupid to vote.
That's exactly why the snp fought so hard for them to get the vote , at that age the propaganda instilled at school is still uppermost in your thoughts as you've not been out in the real world where you learn the harsh realities of life
It shows how thick the SNP are when they are still talking about independence when they were told NO
Who ? ....... the snp , is that the hyper divisive , often childish , anti English group that in 16 years was constantly mired in sexual shenanigans of their mps / msps , corruption , mismanagement of funds etc etc etc who will at best be only remembered for their baby box giveaways !!! They have ruined anything they touched ...
A couple of things stand out to me. These people don't get that they already live in an independent state. In the UK everyone over 18 can vote, and the UK is the template for every great democracy on earth. The independence referendum was also a de facto EU referendum. Had Scotland voted yes then we were out of the EU. Scotland was never a member of the EU, and is a long way off meeting the criteria to join. It was only through being in the UK Scotland could be part of the European Union.
No the way the snp run there got free this and free that nothing is free dodged a bullet with that one can't ballance the books with Barnet what would we do without it

Scotland has been free and independent since 1307 AD,
Robert the Bruce secured our independence at Louden hill, Ayrshire.
Always amuses me though when I see pro SNP people going on a bout independence, when the SNP do not want independence... They want to exchange one political union, the UK for an even bigger more unaccountable one, the EU where Scotland would have even less say. I am not opposed to Scotland going independent if the majority of Scots want it, but they need politicians who would actually put the people of Scotland first, instead of the universal trend across all political parties currently who always put pandering to minorities and international virtue signalling first at the direct expense of those they pretend to represent.
If Scots had voted yes back then they would be a modern day Venezuela by now thanks to just how incompetent, corrupt and self serving the SNP are.

@@johnfisher7587One thing Scottish people had pre SNP was a stellar education ( if you took your chance ) that held you in good stead wherever you went chasing whatever dream you had ..... that is just no longer the case , obsession with wokeness and prize for participation nonsense has ruined all that and it's not hard to see why there is so many drug deaths ...🤮🤮😊

If Scotland were to vote leave, would they take the monarchy back? I'm of mixed heritage ..a true Brit mongrel!! I love the idea of Freedom...if I'd been relocated to Scotland instead of England, I'd have voted for independence!!... Britain is finished!!....If Cornwall had been offered independence, I'd have voted for it!!
