That wasn’t just a guitar solo! That man just told you his whole LIFE STORY with those notes!
You know...it took me several viewings to get it. It's technically great, but my first reaction was that it mauled over one of my favorite musical portions of the orginal song--the ending refrain (ua-cam.com/video/Kp7eSUU9oy8/v-deo.html ). I love how it builds and adds layers to what is honestly a pretty simple melody.
After a few listens, I can enjoy how the solo here takes us on a trip, but eventually comes back to a familiar place. He takes it another step further, though, by going up an octave or so to really put a personal touch on it.

You are absolutely right!
Something about the part at 5:30, along with the buildup of the bass and guitar to this point, is absolutely pristine. It speaks to me.
Its effect comes mostly due to the sudden switch from the minor to the major scale. Notice that none of the instruments change chords, but the guitar introduces the major 3rd note (with is the note that characterizes the major scale). This sudden change creates that great ambience that you (and me also) felt.

at least they are on sound cloud, the drummer does all their mixes and mastering.

first i was blown away by the drummer playing the melody while keeping perfect time on the drums.
then i was locked on the vocalist being an insane singer, performing a basically flawless performance.

As a bassplayer I am blown away by this dude's basslines and I'm very eager to practice playing it and studying it to see if I can learn some stuff from him. To me, it sounds like he's originally a keys player and that he applies his knowledge and skills as a keys player to the bass, which sounds absolutely killer. Sounds truly new and refreshing to me

I saw a bunch of comments about the guitar solo and got my hopes up really high and let me just say, it absolutely destroyed my expectations. Hell yeah.
That reharmonized chorus at the outro got me straight through the heart, my mind almost couldn't comprehend. And don't even get me started on the solo. If you're ever doing a master class I gotta see it. Insane phrasing, insane everything. 100/10.

Things I love about this: the organ pedal bass line; the lead singer's phenomenal vocals, groove, and phrasing; the unbelievable guitar solo; the comping on the organ by the keyboard player when the bass player switches to the bass and guitar solo starts; the groove of that drummer and the melody match on the xylophone; the bass line under the guitar solo... I think you get it.

Just realized the bass is being played by bass pedals so a second keyboard (piano) can come in. The technical skill required while remaining musical and dynamic is just mindblowing. Then jumping to electric bass while keyboardist #1 stretches his right hand to reach 180 degrees behind him takes over both his and the other keyboard. WTF. What planet are these guys from?
