He got a star on the walk of fame! About fuckin' time!!! Lo Meng is one of the Shaw Brothers' best, and his roles in Kid With The Golden Arm and the kind-hearted and ultimately betrayed Toad in Five Deadly Venoms were just great! This man deserves the attention he gets here!
I love this man...I grew up on his movies. In NYC, I remember as a kid always being in front of the T.V. on Saturdays at 3pm to catch the martial art movies and the movies that Lo Meng was in were always some of my favorites. Usually, his character was my favorite also.
Same here my friend. I live in New Jersey and we got the Shaw Brothers movies on WNEW 5's Drive-In Movie. It's been 30-some years since then, but the memories are still as bright as day. Just gores to show you, pre-cable TV was the best!
Lo Meng seems like such a humble guy too. Like most actors in these types of films, he probably wasn't expecting them to amount to anything, but surprise! He and his fellow Venoms went on to become international stars, and they earned every bit of their fame under the old studio system. Long live The Venoms!
I don't think some of these guys really understand how much they are loved here in the states... In my community they were always heroes to us. Capable actors and yes .."Leading Men"...God bless them. Hope More are inspired to come over soon...
I have seen in some interviews, not just with Sifu, but others that U.S. fans make them uneasy with our exuberance, if you will. Personally, I'd love a chance to see him in person at convention. Listen to him take about his career.
lo meng you are one of my favorite martial artist in the business. I'm an artist by trade, and I love kung fu movies to death. I love drawing different characters in scenes that would go good in movies, comic books, and poster boards for promotional purposes. he's a legend among legends without a doubt. the toad never dies.
Lo Meng is a legend from the Shaw Brother's camp it's great to see him get the respect and admiration he deserves and hope to see him in more movies he was great in Ip Man 2!!👏👏👏
watching him in Two champions of Shaolin with Chiang Sheng right now!!! I love Lo Mang in everything but I always remember Five venoms the most since I was little it's my favorite movie he was in. I recently saw that and crippled avengers back to back on el ray so epic!
Ahhh... the venom mob! I remember fondly my saturday afternoons with "black belt theatre" and the "rancho" drive in southeast san diego. Thanks for the great memories!
Watching his films are bittersweet. I get irked when certain endings don't turn out the way they should, if you know what I mean. I think he deserved more leading roles due to his skills and great physique. Today he'd make a great kung fu master with long white hair/beard. Hope I get to see this soon.
In Two Champions of Shaolin, he had a leading role and survived till the last fight where he died together with the villain Lu feng and his co hero chiang sheng.
My favorite Venom also.He was a childhood hero for me.His movies kicked ass and im glad to see him doing well.He helped Kung Fu to be so popular and admired. He was so talented and an amazing movie hero.
Lo Mang is so humble yet loved by many. So many appreciate his strong performances and onscreen persona. He is truly a class act. Also, R.I.P. Linn "Sifu Linn" Haynes. Thank God for blessing me with the privilege to meet you in 2004. Thanks for sharing.
I love Lo Meng, he is my screen saver at work with him in his costume of Kid With The Golden Arms. I was in jr high when I first saw the movie. I was like he is one bad ass that could cut up a sword with his bare arms. I fell in love with him at that very moment.
Hey, who doesn't love a guy who can cut up a sword with his bare arms? That's superhero territory, lol Seriously though, the Shaw Brothers movies were fun, ahd great choreography, and some of the coolest costumes we'd ever seen in a martial arts movie. And they were a great reminder of our childhoods when things were so much better.
That's actually cool that you've got Golden Arm as a screen saver. I think another thing about Lo Meng is he always had this good guy appearance. In Five Deadly Venoms and Return of The Five Deadly Venoms (aka the Crippled Masters) he was always happy-go-lucky with that big disarming smile, and he always was kind to everyone he met. He had a great onscreen power.
Kain Nosgoth Chiang Sheng (babyface) was happy go lucky. Lo Meng had the bullish muscleman intimidating appearance which was offset many times when his character would otherwise be nice. Phillip Kwok played the wiseass characters, Ti Lung the older wiser guy, David Chiang the mellow or sometimes rebel badass, Chi Kuan-Chun was the noble one etc...
Budgie Cat You speak a lot of truth about Lo Meng's character. This was especially true in 5 Deadly Venoms when The Toad was this seemingly invincible ruffian who had a heart of gold, with the way he helped cath the Centipede and the way he gave Chiang Sheng money to eat at the beginning of the movie. His character in "Magnificent Ruffians" was equally tragic when he was murdered with the exploding pole that was cowardly replaced by one of Lu Feng's men. I actually remember crying over that one. As far as Ti Lung, I thought that he had a real penchant for the tragic...'Avenging Eagle" was a portrait of a man who was trying to change his future, with a past that made it impossible. The look on his face when he finds out that Fu-Sheng is his enemy, the way his face falls and his eyes soften to those of a puppy, is one of the greatest moments in Shaw Brothers cinema. And a real tear-jerker. Your assessment of the other actors is spot on, and it's nice to see that these men have gotten the recognition they've deserved. They were heroes to an entire American generation thanks to the Saturday afternoon movie showcases. Great talk we had, mate!
Budgie Cat Another of the Venoms to note was Sun Chien. Watching that guy's kicks was a real treat! He had these devastating above the waist kicks and a spin-kick that would knock the head off of a bronze statue! Whether on the run from the Manchus with the rest of his Venoms comrades, or whether he played the bad guy (like Iron Feet in Kid With The Golden Arm) he was a real powerhouse when it came to his kicks!
Lo meng was the man from those five venom mob movies he held it down. love chinese super ninjas my favorite. many more also. he was mostly the hero and that sticks with me.
I waited so long for someone to interview this actor. He is still handsome and seems humble and down to earth. And i am also glad he is still active and in good health as an actor, director and choreographer.
He still looks amazing. I am so happy for him. I'm happy he knows he has a big American fanbase even until this very day. He was quite handsome in his hayday.
The toad is in the top 5 of my favorite, he's venom all the way, I watched these movies on 42street from 1978-1985 3 movies for 3 dollars some of the theaters where gross especially the ones on the south side of 42street you had to be careful not to fall a sleep unless you wanted your pants sliced with a razor, the theaters where 24hrs a lot of bums would fall a sleep, boy those where the days.
I LIKE LO MENG IN THE KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARM AND INVINCIBLE SHAOLIN & THE FIVE DEADLY VENOMS, I'VE WATCHED MOST OF HIS KUNG FU PICTURE'S WHEN I WAS A KID GROWING UP HE WAS AND STILL IS AN EXCELLENT ACTOR AND FIGHTER TO THIS DAY I WOULD THAT I COULD MEET HIM AND SHAKE HIS HAND LO MENG IS A LEGEND.
MY TWO FAVORITE'S OF LO MENG ARE THE KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARM HOW HE BROKE THE WINDOW IN WITH HIS ARM'S AND HOW HE TOOK THAT CHAIN SWORD AND BROKE IT INTO LITTLE BITTY PIECE'S WITH HIS HANDS.
got teary eyed myself the memories and lo mang always stood out yes i grew up with them as many of us did ,many more need to be honored but indeed the venoms the shaw productions was a changing of the guard in martial arts films
I grew up watching him and Im watching chinese super ninja right now I love him in all of his movies...I just hated that he died in so many of them .... RIP..love forever
I feel the venoms had the type of determination and skill of Bruce lee , especially Mang . Like the very next gen of artists Bruce was. Imagine If they had migrated to USA when Bruce did? They may have just ended up as stunt men ,but who really knows. I'm Glad they stuck around and made the 10 or so great flix they did !
Lo Meng one of my favorite actors. I'm glad to see you're still around. I seen you host a Kung Fu Marathon on the El Rey network. Can you please consider also doing serious non Kung Fu roles in independent black directed films it would make the pinnacle of your career.
Lo Meng is cool. Funny how he pretty much denounced "Lion vs Lion" I owned the dvd but had never watched it. Now having seen it. I understand. What a strange film. Still the fight choreography was great! everything else...well...
nice upload.loved the whole venom mob.shaw bros tried to capitalize on their fame and rushed a few junk movies out with them but the movies were still entertaining cause of their awesome skills.Did suck that lo meng got killed off 1st in most movies.
Thanks 4 sharing this video. I wish I had known Lo Meng was coming to America, I would have tried my best to go and see his visit, thats' why I dislike America in some ways, because they never let the public know anything when it comes to our foreign actors and actresses because they have fans too here in America.
Lo's kungfu was specifically close quarters in fighting and always circling. In every movie fought one way with however, a vast array of attacks and defenses. He has aged well.
i'm surprised that he would be so unimpressed with Lion vs. Lion, since that was one of the bigger roles he got. maybe he wasn't too impressed by Wong Yue, in the lead role. I also didn't realize the genuine impact Ti Lung had on other players..thought that was just in the movies. I'm glad to hear that. Ti Lung's my favorite Shaw Brothers actor. he da king.
Special thanks to Mr. Lo Meng for inspiring me ever since I've seen his best kung-fu movie films which was my favorites of Five Deadly Venoms and Crippled Avengers! The 🙏🏿
Sifu so much respect to you. I agree with you about Lion vs Lion. While the quirkiness was totally up Wang Yue's ally, it was odd for you. However, I choose to see it as we all do something merely for the fun of it. Lion vs Lion is something you can view as doing merely for the fun of it.

"I'll use my hands against any weapon" Lo Meng - Five Element Ninjas
It was so cool on how he disarmed the samurai.
And he did great as the Deaf-Mute in the Crippled Avengers.
Ah, man. Toad was my favorite Venom when I was a kid. It is nice to see him in good health. A true inspirational actor and martial artist.
Be still my heart! Dang those dimples STILL. (Fainting). Just as handsome now as he ever was. Love you Lo Meng!Xoxoxoxo

he dies more than he should haha
In Two Champions of Shaolin, he had a leading role and survived till the last fight where he died together with the villain Lu feng and his co hero chiang sheng.
Kuo chui lizard never dies lol I only remember him dying in life gamble and Shaolin invincibles, any more?
Lo Meng has always been an Idol and Hero of mine!
My favorite Venom also.He was a childhood hero for me.His movies kicked ass and im glad to see him doing well.He helped Kung Fu to be so popular and admired. He was so talented and an amazing movie hero.
Lo Mang still looks to be in tremendous shape. At the very least he looks to be in fantastic health for his age. POISON CLAN ROCKS THE WORLD.
Lo Meng is one of my all time favourite
My goodness! What a treat! An interview with the legend of legends! I love this guy. The best.

Robert Williams Chinese super ninja ?!? Is that a tv series or movie?!?
@@WoodBlock707 it's the US title for 5 Elemental Ninja.
I love watching Lo meng i can watch him his move use his hands with any weapon
They way he scoffed at using weapons, I'm like "Damn this dude is badass!!" Definitely made me a fan in "Five Element Ninja" and "Golden Arm."
His fight with the Samurai in Five Element Ninjas was the best.
Lo Meng one of my favorite actors. I'm glad to see you're still around. I seen you host a Kung Fu Marathon on the El Rey network. Can you please consider also doing serious non Kung Fu roles in independent black directed films it would make the pinnacle of your career.
My favorite Venom.

Many of the Shaw Bros. films were in Mandarin, it is nice to hear him speak Cantonese.
Thanks 4 sharing this video. I wish I had known Lo Meng was coming to America, I would have tried my best to go and see his visit, thats' why I dislike America in some ways, because they never let the public know anything when it comes to our foreign actors and actresses because they have fans too here in America.
This is the finest Chinese man I know, still look good after all these years!
Outstanding and a very special place.
I love Lo Mang in the kid with golden arms and the 5 deadly venoms.
Lo's kungfu was specifically close quarters in fighting and always circling. In every movie fought one way with however, a vast array of attacks and defenses. He has aged well.
The first movie I saw Lo Meng in was when I watch Unbeatable Dragon/Invincible Shaolin that was my favorite.
Before the Marvel movies , these Kung Fu movies were our CGI films. Nothing else could compare. These are still better hands down
AWESOME DUDE. GOLDEN ARM.
i'm surprised that he would be so unimpressed with Lion vs. Lion, since that was one of the bigger roles he got. maybe he wasn't too impressed by Wong Yue, in the lead role.

Pode traduzir em português!...um dos meus favoritos, lu meng..obriga

Lo Meng is the power house of the venom group. He uses his arms & hands to do all of his action and rarely uses weapon.
