Dear Old House, I love gardening and lanscaping. my dad has been doing it for nearly 20 years in Ontario, Canada and next season i am going into this business. I want to become a pro and stay creative to such a degree that my customers would rather want my plans than theirs, and i have the feeling that they will want it very often. but... i can see that you are unlucky when it comes to weather man... maybe some prayers to rain spirits would help.... take care! thanks for your channel, it helps me a lot as well as it inspires me the same. PEACE!!!
Would you really ALWAYS want to plant the root ball higher than the surrounding earth? I was thinking this would be great in the average situation, but in a place like the Southwest, Arizona or New Mexico it seems like you want to have a little depression that would catch and save any water, as well as have room for some mulch to shade from the sun and wind and maintain some humidity?
You know it took me days to decipher the name of the first plant. When I discovered how it is spelled I could not believe how he pronounced it with that Boston accent for Americans maybe easy but for foreigners really hard.
I really wish there was a photo of this 5 years later so I could see what it looks like but that's not possible at the time of posting. The production crew knows that and just wants to put out a quality product. They have to rely on the fact that TOH puts out quality work in all the other videos so you have to take this one with some trust.
My neighbor's bamboo killed all my wax leaf pivet bushes and had to remove them last year. What can i do about stopping roots advancing. I miss my privacy and the smell in bloom.
just an opinion. if one doesn't have enough money to purchase enough plants to make the 'privacy screen' then she should wait and save more money and do the project more properly. With only 3 plants in 10 feet or so space, I am not sure 1) how long you'd have to wait until they grow enough to give her the privacy 2) how pretty your house overall will look until all plants have fully grown.
What was the name of that white pine and also what zone is it in grow in I am in Oakland California we are zone nine we have Mediterranean type climate not a lot of water OK appreciate any help with these questions thank you
Guys I got a huge dilemma here. I got a daycare next to our house and their toys keep flying into our garden. I'm getting more and more pissed off with these toys ruining the look of our garden and having our hard work littered. What would be the best way, other than going over there and having a talk with them? Is there something I can do on our boundary fence. Cheers.
First thing i thought of was, great now i have to trim around these things every time i mow the lawn...and they're gunna grow into my fence and break it...and i'd have to rake up all this pine crap it drops.
Roger isn't well, and patience isn't easy when working with newbie gardeners while being unwell/in pain. According to the latest episodes, Roger is stepping back, hope he gets better quick but continues to take it easy. He has done the hard yards over the years.
I always wondered if they got some day labors to do the work. because the last part where he taps the mulch with his rake looks like he just went and made it look as if he had done something.
@@montythibault2103 since ive posted my comment I've done some research its actually a movie set in an underground bunker off the coast of nova Scotia and the actors are prototype Androids from Boston dynamics i was very very disappointed to say the least when i found out Rodgers thicc boston accent wasn't authentic but was computer generated
Because SHE payed HIM to tell HER how to do IT because SHE had no idea what SHE was doing and SHE got a huge discount in exchange for allowing HIM to do what HE needs for the t.v. show.
She’s like the happiest nicest woman I’ve ever seen in my life
That’s girl is so friendly and cute and her accent is also so much full of joy 😍
I love gardening in the rain. Beats slaving in hot sun any day
i really wish they have posted before and after pictures
Ya

It's gonna be too big for your yaaad
Rubba hamma!

Joachim Tran
Good work Roger
Scriptwriter to Homeowner: If in doubt, say "sounds good" or spice it up a little and say, "sounds good to me".
This woman was awesome😀
wish we could see how it looked after a few months or a year.
Ya

She sounds like my wife. "Babe I'm buying a shotgun."
"Do you need one?"
"Oh yeah!"
"Great, sounds good to me!"
Sounds Good.
Updates are great!

Thanks roger!
Dam Roger, your the man....nice work again!
You are amazing man and smart

And The first plant was?
@@advancekashmir9846 arborvitae
She loves lilacs
Sounds good to me
Nice, How about adding a fruit bearing trees? or blueberries as border.
Yeah, considering her priority aren't evergreens but deciduous trees.
I LUVVV LILAAAAAAK
yeah, Rodger, thanks
She doesn't seemed scripted like all other owners. She interrupts Roger alot.

PBS needs to get onto Hulu Live just so I can watch this...missing the newish shows each week!
I like this episode so much but it's re-uploaded too many times
"I LOVE LILACS!"

Any suggestions to purchase hatfield yews in south central pennsylvania?
How do you protect these from deer?
Can I keep them in a large pot?
What a cutie.
She was annoying. Just like your president.
These city folk just couldn't help but take a roll in the mud with their newly washed denims and everything
$75 sounds NOT good to me! Rip
“That’s the part of planting on a budget.”

Fastigiata or Columnar, zones 3-8.
Only took 2 years to get a reply.

Was waiting to see the ‘AFTER’ image in the end. Would love to see how it looks like now.
Can you show results 2yrs. Later????
so she wants plants that block people looking in her garden so she gets plants that dont do that half the year ......
That's what I was thinking. Like take the damn trees!
Seriously, poor dumb girl.
Sounds good to me
i want them random just like nature. - roger 2016
dont put any soil on tarp of the bawll
For full privacy and security, build a reinforced concrete wall with barbed wire.
First thing i thought of was, great now i have to trim around these things every time i mow the lawn...and they're gunna grow into my fence and break it...and i'd have to rake up all this pine crap it drops.
It's been 2 yrs where's the update
Is the rain gonna be a problem 😆
I'm wondering how well her bush grew in. We need an update.
ive never heard anyone pronounce
arborvitae that way lol
Was roger in a bad mood

its always sad to see them using the wrong type of shovel to dig their holes
I always wondered if they got some day labors to do the work. because the last part where he taps the mulch with his rake looks like he just went and made it look as if he had done something.
This was already uploaded.
I just don't get why they always put up the same thing what did they run out of different ones to put up
Some good soil if you ask me
The yaahd looks gweat Wogah.
Something tells me Roger did most of the digging.
Scott P She too fine to dig.
God, I hate white pines. Never met one that I liked, the scraggly, pitchy, needle-dropping buggahs.
Where is an update video??
everything died lol
As her neighbor, I can confirm that nearly all of the shrubs that were planted didn't last more than a season.
3:15 I'm surprised at her size it didn't go down
Is she wearing hockey gloves ? 😂
She beauty
Are these actors or real homeowners?

Dang its so scripted. btw all you need are 20 green giants 2-3 feet apart
bLitzKrieg Those are so ugly and in original lol
Vibernum! Seriously? Aren't those trees pests? Like invasive. aren't they not allowed in some areas?
Now make me a sammy.......and then go paint that fence
kind of foolish to do something like this when it's not summer because we don't get to see the real results
So much smoke
Is it TOH policy only to allow good looking women to appear on screen?
Think this NPC needs more dialog
Idea just put a fence up
What the heck is an “abba” vitae? 😂
Remember that thiefs also like privacy..................
Rip
Never like these lawn improvements because
the roots eventually grow thick and screw up the straightness of your fence.
Festigit
She fine.
Why is he telling her how HE wants HER yard to look?
Because SHE payed HIM to tell HER how to do IT because SHE had no idea what SHE was doing and SHE got a huge discount in exchange for allowing HIM to do what HE needs for the t.v. show.
All Roger's know how to please a woman lol
Pine trees! God damn it i hate pine trees! God damn pine needles! God damn pine cones! God damn sap! God damn it its everywhere!
I ended up planting marijuana. Instructions not clear.
This girl was annoying..
