The mic you re wire to a modern day connector so it can e used with a handset, pretty simple. The lenses, you struggle like hell to remove the bevelled retaining ring, use a LOT of force to remove the lenses and then you replace them. Better off asking Blueangelical to fit them for you, he did mine and returned the mask within 3 days. He knows the drill with his eyes closed.
Just an FYI, lexan & plexiglass is a trade name for polycarbonate...polycarbonate is soft which is what gives it the impact resistance but it also scratches super easy
Well they are 2mm thick lexan, lexan is used in a lot of stuff. To my knowledge he buys the sheeting in a large sheet at a hardware store, then he cuts the lenses out and makes sure they are perfect fits. Mine can physically stop a .22 cal lead pellet at 6 ft lbs.
Pop your filter open and remove the active charcoal, the metal mesh and the inside parts. You only need the external casing for airsoft or it will become a real struggle to play in it. When you split it open actually clean the inside with washing up liquid once the internals are gone. A mate did mine for me, but I noticed tiny black flakes falling out, I redid it and now the taste of filtration is gone. Chromium is not good for you, if you remove the filter my advice is clean it out really well.
Not at all, all the breath goes out via the one way valve at the front of your mask. The intake is via your filter, removing it just makes it easier to breath.
Cheers. Lexan I found is tougher than certain other polycarbs, so there must be a difference of some sort in the way it is produced... I would assume... Either way very useful material. Thanks!
So I’m seeing a lot of people talking about making adjustments to the filter ie taking out its contents in order to breathe better, I personally don’t understand this, because you guys realize that the mask and all parts to it including the filter are designed to be used in Warfare? The guys in the SAS train with these things for months to get used to it. I personally have had no problem breathing in mine at all, even when running. Again, these masks and filters are designed to be used in combat, if soldiers can’t breathe comfortably in them do you really think they would be used so much??? Food for thought.
Wow this is so amazing! I've been looking for a airsoft bb proof lens that just pops on top of the original lens without taking it apart, I'm going to purchase a brand new fm12, similar to the s10 but I believe the lenses of the fm12 are a bit bigger, do you by any chance know any that can be used for the fm12? Thanks so much!
desantos123 It takes one gun barrel round a corner from a blind firing noob to hook them off, or for someone to hit you by accident when you are stacking up, or you to fall onto something like a wall or ledge and it is gone. As tiny as that chance is I wouldn't risk it with outserts alone. Have both, then you are invincible. Also means that you can play without the AF tints and still be BB proof. I just go for 100% safety always. Thanks Vark.
I have some questions. First, once you have everything fixed and the mask is good for airsoft, is it hard to play in? As in like seeing and aiming. Also, if you have a new filter for the S10, cut it open and clean it out like you said, will it be easier to breath in while playing airsoft?
What are my suggestions if someone want the mask to be the most comfort friendly: BEFORE ANYTHING, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE STOCK LENSES WITH THE POLYCARBONATE ONES MADE FOR AIRSOFT SAFETY, IF NOT, YOU CAN END BY BEING BLIND! You can find on ebay, but be careful to be the appropriate ones. 1. I cutted a circle above the glasses, in the area of the forhead and beneath the empty circle, inside the mask, I sticked a 3.5 cm fan that I connected to a box with batteries which has a switcher on/off. The box with the batteries is placed into the filter (which by the way is being epmptied, a piece from within the filter is needed on number 6, see below.). 2. All the valves have been removed. 3. I have removed the outside front plastic from the mouth where the air that you exhale comes out. This hole will be covered on number six, see bellow. 4. I also removed the plastic switcher that closes/opens the water through the tube. 5. I also removed the plastic ring that is around the hole through which the air comes out, the one that is placed just in front of the mouth. 6. In the filter is a round metal filter with rounded holes in it. This should be used to cover the hole from the number 3, so no bbs can enter putting in danger the mouth/nose. It can be tied with some wire by that plastic grill that is inside the exhale hole from the mouth. I made this changes because there were some situations, espacially when the game was intense and hot outside, I had some discomfort breathing. If you make the changes above you will have the best looking, best protective mask and the most comfortable one for airsoft. Cheers!
i am not sure but You can try, put the fan and batteries inside the filter and try. but it can't work so well as when You put the fan over the lenses. there are times when You swet a lot and the air it has to be as efficient as it can be.
Andras Sz I have one for airsoft and i only put it on if some moran throws a smoke bomb I put it on to stay in my hidey hole,or to scare players, and my brother was wondering were to find some in 2018.
Would you be able to make a video showing how to take the filter apart? i tried, but i couldn't figure out how to do it, did you just cut through the middle, or did you cut along the crease at the top of it?
+Cian. “Dom” Tinsley Literally just neatly slice it open with something sharp. Tip out the contents, and tape it back together neatly like mine. You can see where I've cut it, it's along where the tape is.
Uh, seen in my profile picture I have worn my gas mask with the filter on 3-4 times. Am I at any risk? I looked it up before I wore itwith the filter, and everyone said it was not toxic/not dangerous. :l a little worried.
+Manhunt2405 No, outserts are standalone, they're built into the ring that allows them to clip over the regular lenses. They clip on and the lenses do not change. There are lenses available in various tints online, but a lot of people are just adding a coloured film to perspex. I doubt that they are ballistic rated. The proper AF outserts are ballistic rated. Always test anything you use as Eye Protection, just put an AEG up to the lens and fire a few shots on semi at point blank. You only get one pair of eyes.
I have a couple questions. The first is about the chromium danger. Is that mainly if the thing is damaged or is it that even "new" filters of that same type are equally dangerous to use? The second question is about popping open the filter to clean it. Is there a preferred way/tool to get it open to clear it out?
foomp New filters are not dangerous at all. They are sealed in. Nothing leaks. If you cut it open and remove the filtration components and neglect to clean it, that is when you might have issues. Just use a small saw to cut round the edge, and then tape it up once you have washed all the traces of black powder/active charcoal out of it. I just used washing up liquid and warm water, let it dry and then electrical taped my filter case back together. Was fine ever since. Looks the part, but obviously is no longer tough to breath in. Hope that helps. Vark.
Hi there, so the flash outserts are also polycarbonate but not as strong? I thought lexan and polycarbonate were the same thing so how comes the lexan replacement lenses are stronger especially if the flash outserts are 3mm? I know it doesn't particularly matter and I have both the lexan replacement lenses and flash outserts for my S10 but I was just wondering if you could explain that for my own curiosity, cheers
Hi Scorp. Outserts can be hooked/knocked off. If a collision or a gun barrel poking round a corner removes the outsert and you take a hit to the original lens you are screwed. I'd never just use outserts over original lenses. Hence I used both outserts and Lexan inner lenses as I was a bit concerned. Lexan is tougher than a standard S10 lens by a long way. Polycarb and Lexan are the same thing I think... I'm not 100% on that, I just believe that Lexan is a form of Polycarbonate. As for the original outserts, while tough they don't take as much abuse as the replacement inner lenses that Blue made for me. His could actually stop airgun pellets.
+Pyro The Gladiator They are proof. That doesn't mean they aren't going to take minor marks. You are getting shot at by an airsoft weapon. The flash outserts are there to save your eyesight. They are ballistic rated. They'll take damage eventually, but nothing mega. They're only £30 online.
+Ken Morgan It's working fine for me. Well I've let loose a very powerful L96 on the supplied lenses from Blueangelical at point blank before. No damage, I trusted him with my eyes. Try clicking here bluesbushcraftboutique.bigcartel.com/product/s10-replacement-lenses
+Andras Sz Probably yes. The filter is the only part I removed from mine. Without the valves you breath into the mask. Mine still ha a seal to it, so I get the familiar popping as I breath out. Which means breath exits the mask. You could try ventilating it somehow.
Thank you so much for the quick response. The valves have to be inserted outside the mask, right? Towards the face, not inside the mask. When I exhale the mask tends to expand so much, is it normal? Anyways is by far harder to breath like this. I think I will remove the valves and put some solution on the lenses to prevent the fog. Or maybe a fan in the filter... I don't know... Are you OK with the breathing in game with the valves? Cheers!
+Andras Sz Welcome. The whole point is that the mask won't fog as much if you wear it tightly and allow the valves to do their job. The dotted curved part was always on the outside from memory, but I've never removed valves. The other option is to fit it tighter by adjusting your straps and be more assertive with exhaling so that the hot air leaves via the valves. If the mask lifts off of your face it'll create a gap, and then it'll fog. Breathing with the valves in is very easy still. It's when there is a full filter attached that you get the real effort. I've managed to run in a mask and climb stairs, go on CQB games that lasted whole afternoons before with valves, and never felt as though it was hard work. With a filter, it becomes tricky, hence removal of innards and taping it back up after washing it out. The valves however are fine. Also check the rubber breath catching layer inside is in the right position, sometimes it can be out of position, it should sit on your nose, and extend to meet your face so that less breath travels upward and to the lenses. It's a breath catcher, that stops hot breath rising up. It looks like a flap, you can move it easily, it may be in the wrong position, even the drinking pipe can get in the way of it at times depending on where it is pointing. Like you said, also using antifog spray or wipes can work wonders. Hope that helps.
Many thanks for your kind and useful reply. One last question: do you have inside the mask where the tip of the nose stands, a hole in that rubber layer? I think that it shouldn't be there cause the hot air form the nose can escape through this to the eye compartment. Cheers
It's been a long time since I wore an S10. I think if I remember correctly mine didn't have a hole. If that's the case then just fill it with something, you may find it solves it. Welcome. Thank you.
+zack lanigan In theory yes, but I've never tested it against gas. Thankfully haha. Paintball in theory yes. I'd test it at point blank though prior to use as with all eye pro. For paintball I'd personally stick with the intended gear. There are plenty of high end paintball helmets out there.
Yes you will need to change the lenses. Just cut around the edge of the filter, re-seal it with tape. You can see in the video where I've put the tape to re-seal it.
+Ferrakk Donkari No idea. It shows up as working for me right now. Failing that he has a facebook page.Blueangelical all one word. I'm sure he can take an order there if you explain. He's a good guy.
@@MindBit3 well only one way to find out I suppose. I'd assume not. If the actual lenses are identical in dimensions then perhaps, though I wouldn't put money on it.

Good advice but why would you replace the lenses when you have lense filters which don't hit what's behind it

What is aiming like with the mask on? Do they fog much? I am in buying this gas mask and the vio ascend paintball mask. What do you guys say?
Could you make a video on the filter removing all the stuff
Afraid not sorry I no longer own an S10. However it's simple and there are tutorials online :) sorry I can't be of more help.

Got a bit worried there.
...fitted is it an easy fete?
you really need to leave product links
Does this seller of yours sell the outserts, as well as the ballistic lenses? Or does he sell 3, different colored lenses?
Two questions. How do you convert the mic to working order, two how do you replace the main lenses?
Would you be able to make a video showing how to take the filter apart? i tried, but i couldn't figure out how to do it, did you just cut through the middle, or did you cut along the crease at the top of it?
