@@LettsReact since I got ya here a nice detail that alot of people don't pay attention to is everyone's gate of Truth when they see it. Everyone's is different and Ed's changes as he gains more knowledge each time he goes to the Truth.
I love Hohenheim pointing out to Father that by stripping himself of his seven deadly sins, he loses opportunities to learn. Instead of making his own mistakes and trying to find companions to help him escape the flask, Father is denying himself any knowledge he might gain by simply living and being a human in the body which he killed so many people for.
That's an important point to remember. When you see everyone's gate of Truth you'll see everything they learn and their knowledge but pay attention to Father's gate of Truth when it comes to that. Ed's changes each time you see his gate of Truth because of the knowledge he gains through his travel.
This teamup is the definition of: “nobody asked for but everyone needed” Also, I love how Alex and Sig were able to communicate using flexing and ✨sparkles ✨
I love how Sig is built as an actual strongman while Alex is more so a bodybuilder. Sig has a gut but that's how Viking's are said to be built, a layer of fat to help guard the intestines.
“That’s what happened to Envy” and that’s where it truly is, in the end. The sins were manifestations of Father’s own sins and feelings. Envy’s jealousy is, first and foremost, Father’s own jealousy of the human race, which he tried to sever from himself. Greed’s desires, for people, for experiences, for everything the world has to offer, that was Father’s before. The sins are as much aspects of Father as they are individual beings.
Sometimes no amount of good parenting will sway a child from growing up to be an awful person. It's a nature thing at that point, especially if the parents behaved similarly growing up.
Them confronting Mustang’s loss of sanity is such an awesome moment. And Mustang brought up how mad it was that he was scolded by a child and lectured by a man who had been his enemy. And he tried to reclaim his father like authority over Ed immediately and he’s just like mom brought me back. I was fine. If there’s one thing a proud parent doesn’t want to admit is that their kid yelled at them and they were JUSTIFIED AND CORRECT. But also Scar getting recognition from Hawkeye and she just says I know you hate hearing this but we LITERALLY couldn’t have done this without you. And he refuses to say it so I will. I want to call out Buccaneer here because it’s REALLY funny. He was told to not let a single monster through the gates so he smacked his weapon and with a triumphant “Yes, General.” He does the only sensible thing. Turns to Izumi and says “Can you please help my boss?” Which is just a genuinely hysterical thing to do. Strategic yes, but that genuinely feels like a tail in between your legs moment. As for the Muscle-Off. There is nothing. NOTHING funnier to me than Sig and Alex’s INSTANTANEOUS soulmate bromance moment. I HAVE to bring up FMA03 again because they did the SAME THING. It’s EQUALLY hilarious but the fact they did this twice is more hilarity than I can manage. (And looking up the muscle offs is actually how I got introduced to All-Might and MHA. And I can not here that man scream “I AM HERE!” Without also hearing “HELLO SISTER! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!” Chris Sabot you and your screaming and grunts are just ICONIC.) Sloth from Brotherhood is my least favorite Homunculi of the 14 between both shows sure, Sloth from 03’ Kinda set the bar REALLY high to become the least important one in Brotherhood sets me off. But I do still think he is an amazing embodiment of Sloth. And for him to die going all out and truly trying to get back up is once again another ironic death. Lust died undesired Gluttony was eaten Envy was caught truly trying to quietly be in the many varied forms to be “human.” And was called out. Sloth died trying his best. We also see the conflict of the Eastern and Western Sage. And I love you can tell which is which based on their dragons. Hohenheim is the western sage with Chinese dragons as he moved east and inspired Alchehestry. Father is the Eastern Sage with fantasy dragons you see in fairy tales over here and Europe. He traveled west and spread alchemy. Hohenheim is an internal fighter and Father is external. Hohenheim disarms rather than fights back til he realizes there’s little other choice. If God and the Devil from the Bible ever interacted I actually feel like it would be like this. I do also need to point out Father. He doesn’t want to lower himself to their level. And he will become a far more perfect being. Strange wording of viewing himself Perfect and he can become greater. But it’s even more deep that he may be speaking of humans when he says I will become more perfect than THAT. And he sits below EVERYTHING. So he HAS to look up at people. Perhaps there’s something there. EXCELLENT episode. Hohenheim and Father’s conflict might just be my favorite of the series. It’s just such a FASCINATING dynamic.
20:50 LMFAO 😂 The one time you guys missed something that was hidden in plain sight. Hahaha! Once again another great reaction. Now this already wild party goes into another gear. Thanks Kenny and Montana for the amazing content, and I hope soon y'all can get to Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 and the movies soon. I promise you won't wanna miss them. Again thanks you guys and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 🎄🙏🎁
He mentioned a sword, but didn't react any further. Some how these two can be extremely galaxy brain one second, and just pure nonsensical dumbies the next. I honestly don't know how they keep flip-floping

**Homunculi dying ironic deaths, Continuation** 4.: Sloth. Dies for good when it becomes too hard for him to keep living after a prolonged, physically taxing fistfight with Major Armstrong, who vowed to never run from evil again after his own sloth prevented him from acting on his conscience during the Ishvalan War. The heroes who supported Armstrong during the fight - his sister Olivier, Izumi and Sig Curtis, and the nameless military defectors from Central Command - ignored their own sloth (apathy, domestic simplicity, the ease of following the chain of command) in favor of doing what was right. More to come...
I love how casual Bradley was about walking up to the Presidential Palace and announcing his return and how everyone kinda shat themselves at the thought of facing him
Bradley’s assault on the main gate is maybe my favorite part of the entire series, I can’t wait for next episode! He’s also like the Ur-example of one of my favorite anime archetypes- the old man who’s got no special powers beyond being an absolutely insane, overwhelming swordsman. Even better if they routinely go up against fucking magic and monsters.
18:11 i just realized.... Van Hohenheim created a "chinese" dragon (or oriental) and Father an "european" dragon (or occidental) (after Xerxes, Hohenheim traveled to the east - Xing- and Father to the West -Amestris-)
Coup in progress. Immortal, cabalistic soldiers roaming the halls. Near invincible monsters preparing to destroy the entire country. Lett's React: GROSS, WHO DIDN'T HAVE SHOES ON???
I always pitied Sloth. He never knew what he truly wanted, and just went with flow and followed orders; because he felt he had no other choice. Father exploited him, and forced him to work night and day, digging the tunnel; and then when that task was over, he was forced to fight the Armstrong siblings. But the fight was more difficult then he realized, and he ultimately died in the effort. In the end, he was relieved that he was dying, because now he was free and could finally rest. The sad truth is, Sloth was not only aimless, he lacked the resolve to fight back ; and he suffered for it.
I thought it was rather fortunate that you didn't notice Wrath passing by from behind. The scene of Wrath walking from behind only exists in animation (It's a scene that doesn't exist in the original Comics.) , and I don't understand why they put this scene in animation. Because of this scene, viewers have already noticed Wrath' reappearance, and because of that, the shock to Wrath' appearance is halved.
PLEASE watch hunterxhunter, montana would love disecting the minds of all the complex character arcs, and I know kenny would absolutely have the best predictions for the show!!
10:11 whats funny is in the manga they met WAAAAAAY sooner and did this whole routine in Izumis butchery. 18:18 notice the touch with the western and eastern style dragon constructs? So good. 24:54 not everyone knew about Father. To everyone else whos not into the inner circle of the protagonists everyone things this is some coup against Bradley from the North not realizing the actual conflict
13:06 As a very depressed person, can confirm 'life is painful and exhausting' is incredibly accurate lmao its interesting to have that aspect to sloth and i really like it, personally
12:53 That is actually true, as someone suffering from a chronic depression, I found Sloth to be an extremely relatable character - especially when thinking of my low points, when I simply don't have the energy to get out of bed, when even talking to people is (as he puts it) a pain, when all I want is get done with whatever I have to do, so I can go back and hide in my comfortable little apartment, and not have to deal with all the hassle of the outside world. Sometimes, living is just a pain, and I endure it only because I feel I have no other choice (sometimes).
Ironic Homunculus Death: 4; Sloth Edition Sloth dies from his own sloth and being tired. Also overworking himself. His power was his downfall (like most of the Homuncuclus)
also a great point about lust's death is something i saw in a youtube video a while back it's that mustang's motivation was to protect everyone in the room, he was looking out for the people he cares about. so another bit of irony is that lust was killed by a man who loves
12:52 The answer to your question is yes. Sloths' death and final word hit me hard emotionally which surprised me because I don't feel much. I think it's one of those things that you either get it or you simply don't.
1 more episode then im becoming a patreon to see the end of this amazing show. Also I really hope when yall are done it you react to the bloopers as well because they are great.
Will you be watching the bloopers and The OVAs? Also I looooved this reaction so much!! Since Kenny loves bromances of muscle bond men, then I recommend watching Mob Psycho 100 someday!💜
I just wish y'all could see the 2003 version of FMA. That series was when FMA the Manga was still being written and the anime caught up to the manga, in turn, the studio took it upon themselves to come up with an ending. HOWEVER, the Sig and and Major Armstrong scene was by far my favorite. Another thing about the 2003 version is the fight/meeting Father Cornello and his chimeras against the Elric brothers.
12:51 Now that it's mentioned, what we now call depression had historically fallen under the Sin of Sloth. Another name for this form of "Sloth" was Acedia, meaning "without care". How it was considered "Slothful" was not enjoying the beauty of life and the world that has been given to you from God's grace. Think of how some people brush depression off like "Just think about the beauty of nature" or something like that. Not saying that depression is a sin, just that it was considered one. In a way, Sloth embodies the sin in all its ideas. He's lazy, workshy, wasted potential and doesn't care about anything.
I like their talk about villains built around the Seven Deadly Sins. A favorite game of mine had villains based around the Deadly Sins with their "Sloth" being a large, muscular beast of a man who wants nothing more than a fight. Incredibly unsloth-like But his Sloth was the fact that he never acted when he should have. Which is what caused his fall to darkness to begin with, him losing his family and comrades because he didn't save them when he could and instead focused on the fight in front of him.
I realize this is a late comment, but related to the end of episode review: My take on the death of the homunculi was that they died against the sin they were named of. If you go back to Lust's final words, she says, "but there are worse ways to die than at the hands of a man like you. I love how focused your eyes are..." - I think in that moment, it was hinting that she had fallen for Mustang. Gluttony got eaten. Sloth went all-out. Envy accepted who he was and how he felt. Wrath died at peace. Greed sacrificed himself. Pride was willing to become a human just to survive. They all met their end turned against their nature. For me, that's part of what made this such a well-written story.
Watching this episode, I can only assume that The Truth had no choice but to make Izumi and Sig barren, because any child of theirs would have been TOO POWERFUL.
So originally it was the eight deadly sins. Sadness/melancholy was removed as sloth fills that role, so yes I'd say linking sloth with depression is spot on
Just in case people are wondering how powerful Wrath is, they should know that the author herself admitted that if King Bradley's (Wrath) body was at his prime, he can single-handedly squash this rebellion all by himself. To put that into perspective, remember how many powerful individuals there are in this rebellion. Some of the best fighters in the entire series. Izumi Curtis, Izumi's husband, Alex Armstrong, Olivia Armstrong, Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye, Scar, Edward Alric, Alphonse Alric, 4 Chimeras, Greed, Ran Fan, Fu, May Chang, Captain Bucaneer, the first tanks in the whole country and many tough as nails Briggs soldiers that are based off badass WW2 era Russians. One person ALONE can defeat all of THAT. That is how terrifying King Bradley is. To summarise his abilities, he is a supersoldier like Captain America with peak physical performance. Be it reaction speed, movement speed, stamina, power, thinking speed, endurance, flexibility, aim, eyesight, hearing, smell etc, he has it all. Combine that with swordsmanship right out of Rorounin Kenshin (Samurai X) and a Sharingan to complement his fighting style. For context, his Ultimate Eye acts like a secondary supercomputer brain that sees EVERYTHING and relay ALL information to Bradley, allowing Bradley to make even faster reactions and split second decisions on the battlefield. Critical information like trajectory, distance, wind speed, humidity, speed of enemies, time enemies need to reach him, muscle movements and most importantly, THE WEAKNESSES OF THE ENEMIES. His Ultimate Eye sees all, and Bradley knows all. Now combine this cheat code of an Eye with his supersoldier peak physical capabilities along with swordsmanship straight out of a samurai anime, and you get King Bradley. Should the rebellion be afraid? Yes, they should be VERY afraid. The only handicap and nerf they got from Bradley is his old age.
the more basic a magic system is the more creative things you can do and alchemy is so basic that you can do anything as long as you know how to/ have the material
So, Kenny and Montana: Remember back in episode 31, you felt that Bradley was underestimating the Elrics by meeting with them and Mustang alone, and that his overconfidence would lead to his downfall? ... Y'all about to *learn.*
Yo that's not a flare on Bradley's belt it's a 1940's German stick grenade. The design is nice, easier to chuck and doesn't roll like the American nades. And yes Bradley's gonna fight everyone and their silly little tanks.
thats three episodes in a row yall have gone "woah! they have green blood?!" lol. and yes, thats me counting the "green?!" in this episode not trying hate or anything silly like that, just found it funny lol
Following the theme of the power of humanity, I recommend Gurren Lagann as a series to watch. I don't think there an anime that progresses purely by the indominable human spirit quite like it. Its a trip and not too terribly long long either. Highly recommend.

Technically, Izumi kinda didn't do anything except toss him across the room once.

Sometimes no amount of good parenting will sway a child from growing up to be an awful person. It's a nature thing at that point, especially if the parents behaved similarly growing up.

12:52 The answer to your question is yes. Sloths' death and final word hit me hard emotionally which surprised me because I don't feel much. I think it's one of those things that you either get it or you simply don't.
sloth is not just the sin of 'laziness' but of 'wasted potential'. the ability to change things but refusing not to

I like their talk about villains built around the Seven Deadly Sins.
A favorite game of mine had villains based around the Deadly Sins with their "Sloth" being a large, muscular beast of a man who wants nothing more than a fight. Incredibly unsloth-like
But his Sloth was the fact that he never acted when he should have. Which is what caused his fall to darkness to begin with, him losing his family and comrades because he didn't save them when he could and instead focused on the fight in front of him.
(At 7:57) I didn't realize this, but his shackles came off. They must be made of lead if they're THAT heavy.
azumi is so skilled. not only did she anticipate sloth's speed but then threw him. sloth whos be running circles around luis and his sister
I realize this is a late comment, but related to the end of episode review:
My take on the death of the homunculi was that they died against the sin they were named of.
Riza (to Scar): "I couldn't have snapped him out of it by myself."
Reality: Riza was the only one to actually get through to Roy.
1:01 that 536329 moment was badass enough to make a favorite episode on its own
Edit: that's next episode isn't it
That Iron Giant sweater is awesome
"Greetings, I'm back"
Top 10 moments before disaster struck
Woah Iron Giant sweater!
Fun fact, Sig Curtis by origin from Briggs
Real men don't envy other's muscles, they RESPECT them 💪🏿
Man, the testosterone levels in this episode were through the roof
Watching this episode, I can only assume that The Truth had no choice but to make Izumi and Sig barren, because any child of theirs would have been TOO POWERFUL.
So originally it was the eight deadly sins. Sadness/melancholy was removed as sloth fills that role, so yes I'd say linking sloth with depression is spot on
Thank you for posting this episode early! Loved the reaction this episode!
Wow guys! You're finally internet famous when people are attempting to scam off your image
(At 19:12) backstabber
"He's got a flare..."
It's cute, that you think that is what it is...
So, Kenny and Montana:
Remember back in episode 31, you felt that Bradley was underestimating the Elrics by meeting with them and Mustang alone, and that his overconfidence would lead to his downfall?
... Y'all about to *learn.*
YES, THE MOST MANLIEST FRIENDSHIP IN ANIME!!!!!!
Sig really be out here making "dad bods" a trend.
Cool iron giant sweater kenny!
I saw this episode 3 or 4 times, yet this is the first time that I’ve noticed this part 20:50
This is my favorite series they've done next to she ra and korra. Oh and arcane. Oh and also ATLA. Ok maybe all of them
Alex is the only man allowed to sparkle.
I love wrath;s voice actor he is so badass!
Just what Kenny was waiting for: two strongmen, good ol’ man on man loving.
it's the return of the KING
It's so interesring to me that you still consider this a "kid's show" because it's animated. Thanks for the great reaction like always!
It's a shonen so technically it is for kids
It is, but similar to other "kid" shows it is mostly enjoyed more by teens/adults.
Yo that's not a flare on Bradley's belt it's a 1940's German stick grenade. The design is nice, easier to chuck and doesn't roll like the American nades.
And yes Bradley's gonna fight everyone and their silly little tanks.
thats three episodes in a row yall have gone "woah! they have green blood?!" lol.
and yes, thats me counting the "green?!" in this episode
not trying hate or anything silly like that, just found it funny lol
"Sloth" being killed by two of the least slothful muscle tankers
6:40 he's so Slothful he won't even heal properly!
Every episode at this point goes extra hard... But i love the next episode
I’m too tired to comment and thinking of a reply is painful, in honor of sloth everyone just take a nap.
Following the theme of the power of humanity, I recommend Gurren Lagann as a series to watch. I don't think there an anime that progresses purely by the indominable human spirit quite like it. Its a trip and not too terribly long long either. Highly recommend.
