ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns with multi-Grammy-nominated Cuban-born singer-songwriter and actress Camila Cabello claiming her red chair alongside superstar returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returns as host for Season 22.
The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and Live Performance Shows. This season's Battle Advisors include Charlie Puth (Team Camila), Jazmine Sullivan (Team Legend), Jimmie Allen (Team Blake) and Sean Paul (Team Gwen). For the first time ever, the third phase of the competition will include three-way knockouts.
In the Live Performance Shows, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast, and the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

@@DC-sh7ud with my experience , I watch like 17 Seasons from the voice, and even UK , Holland. I can tell hardly call back this Season. However next Season maybe.
She actually sounded better than some who did get turns! She should of a least gotten one turn!! She has incredible voice

Agreed I think she's also better than the two Tanners and Bryce honestly. Best no chair turn this season so far. She deserved to turn chairs. I feel like she came in too late as the timing was off. I think if she went in earlier she would have turned for sure. She was great!

I wanna say this yelka did a amazing job tonight on the voice show and I would of pushed for her if I were a coach on the voice show and I hope miss yelka see these comments on here u definitely have potenial to go very far in the voice show competition and I hope u tryout again for the voice show next season
I think the coaches would've turned at the beginning of the season. Now it seems like they are extra picky for their final spots on their team.

Her tone was pretty good but some of her notes fell a little flat in the lower range. She had better control in her higher range. Some pretty moments near the end but no coaches turned.
Whenever a contestant sings in Spanish coaches don't know how to react. They don't understand the lyrics so they can't connect to the song. Maybe if her song choice would've been different, it might have helped her. I felt she was good enough.

@@elidamartinez4483 before they can connect, the notes need to be the right pitch. she was pitchy the majority of the song. Camila knows Spanish and Shakira before her, so that is no excuse.
I think when she go for those higher notes she let's loose a bit but she was really in her head in her lower registry. It might be as Camilla says, you have to make it your own. To me, if I sing a song the way it was originally sung then I'm in my head thinking if I'm doing it right, as opposed to my own version which I had control of how it sounds

I think the problem with doing an iconic song is that unless you bring something new or at least meet the levels of the original singer, the song will feel like it’s missing something. I’ve listened to this song a million times and I kept waiting for the Selena notes and they just weren’t there.
She has a good sound but there were a couple of spots that needed work !

Her singing was simple, pure and clean. Not everything needs an 'edge' or to be mixed with another style. (Can you imagine them telling a country artist to add a hip hop beat in an audition?) Listening to a know-it-all 25 year old who didn't even recognize a classic Johnny Cash song is beyond annoying.
To be fair, Johnny Cash is not that great of a [country] singer. And those who do not listen to country music wouldn't have heard of him as much as George Strait or Dolly Parton.

I think with some coaching this young lady could have gone a long way, she did fail to convey the emotion of the song "heart break" had she conveyed that I think she would have had people turn. Blake and Gwen missed the boat on this blind

Just like she said about Hilary don’t Adele, Yelka doing Selena. They’ll be compared to the original especially when they don’t make it their own. She said the arraignment peaked her interest but it ended there bc she was staying to Selena’s version. She was a great singer but there just wasn’t enough uniqueness to her.

She didn't confuse. She gave an example. She performed exactly as Selena. Camila herself is a huge fan of Selena and have done covers of her record on her tour.

Camilla is Hispanic and she clearly knows Selena. Camilla has Reina on her team and she sang Mariachi. Gwen also turned for Reina. It’s her voice that didn’t get her to turn.

@@roserocks1979 Coaches have turned in the past for non-English songs even Blake. He still fought and still lost to another coach. Besides once but the song was La Bamba which is very popular to American people. He got the Hispanic guy on the team against Cee Lo Green.

I honestly think she sounded very very nervous and didn’t deliver how she might have practiced unfortunately. Camila knows Spanish and she didn’t turn around
She has a good voice but style and pitch matter, she did too much belting or stretching of notes/ syllables that don’t make sense for the instrumentation and style, Selena did some sticcato like notes at the beginning and in this versions she did the opposite with sustained vibrato, sounded awkward in this version. The belting didn’t convey the pain of the song felt too triumphant.
Why doesn't she sing in Turkish or Swahili?
You have to be smart in song choice. When you sing to turn coaches' chairs, you need to sing in a language that the coaches understand.
Because she's Latina 😂 you don't need to understand the language to love a singer that's why American artists have millions of fans in Mexico look at the packed concerts there and i guarantee most don't understand it fully.
