I do find it interesting they mix and machine their own plastic pellets. While not a high tech production, and manually operated with different mixers and extrudes it works quite smoothly from start to finish. I do agree the workers should be wearing protective gear full face respirators with the approved cartridges.
This looks like a very new and up to date facility. The fact that they make their own pellets is rather interesting, most companies would buy the pellets made and colored already. Thanks for sharing, this operation. 👍😁🇨🇱🇺🇸
That isn't true, I worked for a company in the US that made PVC pipe. The color always added to the powder. The mixture is always the same and color is added. All US companies would not have workers working in these conditions.
@@lilcourtny08 I’ve worked in a huge plant in middle America for 40 years now . An yes ur right about the color being added to the formulas they use for plastic pipe. It’s got several different components to its mix . Like resin, wax, lubricants they also put fillers in the formulation as well. Like what’s known as micro fill. Each size of pipe has to undergo a test we call impact test . The smaller the diameter? The less filler that is introduced to the formula. It’s because the bigger diameter pipe can withstand a higher impact resistance. We rely on components that’s shipped in by rail car to mix an process our formulas that’s stored in silos . There’s so many logistical things that goes into producing our product it would take a couple of threads here to explain lol . But it is an interesting process though..
Looks like Schedule 10 pipe at best. No markings as to pressure or temperature limits. But, this is a NASA lab compared to most factories I've seen from this part of the world.
Blows me away that the guys working with powders and stuff don’t wear any sort of respiratory protection and the guys NOT working with powders wear masks. Odd.
mask cant help against gas from heated plastic, or it will be expensive mask. Powder isnt big problem (common mask)., also plastic factories usually buy plastic premade granules, but that places are still hell pits (for workers)

I once worked for a company that used large quantities of PVC conduit for electrical cables. I once represented my employers in inspecting the supplier's factory. They made water pipe and sewage pipe for other customers. They had a whole quality control department continually doing tests, also a chemist continually sampling and testing the PVC pellets. I was told the pellets vary somewhat from batch to batch, requiring changes in settings in the screw extruder, and changes to certain lubricants and plasticizers added. I would think that this factory would have found a similar quality control group or man essential - they just didn't show it/him in the video.
I see the health and safety committee working hard here. I’d like to order the dust collection system, or the dust masks. What kind of material are his safety boots made from.
I worked for a large factory producing PVC pipe and large diameter poly pipe. The small factory here is really primitive by comparison. The factory I worked in also had dust everywhere, not healthy.
@@s.kverma1293 As far as I can tell, yes. But this was a huge company in Australia. Also, the pipe has to meet stringent tests to be approved for sale. The business in this video is quite small.
The PVC pipe factory I once visited (in Australia, see my other post) was spotlessly clean - no dust at all. They were very big on ventilation and safety procedures. I was told that if the fails, you can get chorine gas belching from the screw extruder - nasty.
@@keithammleter3824 Do you mean chlorine gas? The company in question was Iplex pipelines and it was anything but clean. I operated every extrusion line when required and also the granulator, huge machine. When running the extrusion lines that made blue rhino, a very strong water pipe with plenty of UV stabilizer in it, there was a strong smell of sulphuric acid coming from it. The screw extruder has two observation ports and it was the job of whoever came on with the new shift to perform a barrel vac then remove the glass over the ports and dump in a trace, this ensured we knew which pipe had been formed without vacuum. I was all pretty fascinating. No wiff of chlorine.

Handling PVC powder without mask is nearly death
Not sure. Billions people live in cities under rubber powder from car.
Holy crap, the working conditions are primitive. Those guys are going to have COPD by the time they’re 30 and dead by 40.
they're even wearing open toes shoes in an active industrial factory. I see many many injuries in their future lol
It's actually quite the opposite

Better to stay away from places like this even in european country.

So you press the dust to pellets only to then crush them directly later to form the pipe?
It's not crushing into pipe. The screw imparts some pressure, but the machine heats the pellets to melt them together.
