Got a song released in august 21 with over 800k streams. Today a popularity score of 37 and from Disc Weekly about 250k streams. Thanks a lot Tom for the great help with your vids on this one. 🙏🙂
Tom you’re the man! Always love your videos bro. Would you say that Facebook ads was was the sole thing that pushed your songs to get on discover weekly? It’d be interesting to see a video from you where you review which FB ads campaigns successfully got your songs on DW and which didn’t, and talk about why. Thanks bro!
I wouldn't say Facebook ads are the only factor, but they have certainly been the biggest factor for me, especially since I haven't made as much organic content to promote my music as I probably should have. I actually have several videos on my channel that do exactly what you're describing. You may have to dig a little bit, but they're there!
My experience not so great unfortunately. I pushed one of my songs hard, got more than 10K boost on release radar which increased my popularity score to around 35, but discover weekly didn't come until 3 weeks after that, and its like 5 streams a day lol. 2 months later, I'm still getting 2 or 3 discover weekly streams per day, I'm not seeing the same type of bump you showed. Also, for info, when I passed 30, I didn't get discover weekly, I had to wait a couple more weeks (around week 6) when my song got to 36 pop score to get on DW, and those tiny numbers.
This is all very interesting. Thank you for sharing. My guess is there are other factors at work here if the numbers weren't as high as expected. I don't know what though.
In the last 28 days, I've had four songs on Discover Weekly. Every song is more than six months old, and the popularity scores are 9 to 15 percent. I'm happy they're on there, but they're only pulling in around two to three streams each. So... IDK. Weird.
I've seen this in my catalog too. I think (but can't confirm) Spotify has been making some algorithmic adjustments which has let to a handful of streams for songs under the benchmark for a lot of artists. I still believe the 25% mark is the "official" test metric and 30% is still the official "push" score.
I want to share my current data for the song I am promo-ing at the moment 16% pop 1880 streams (595 listeners) Save rate has been very high- started at 100% for the first 4-5days, then gradually decreased to 87% and today we at 73% I’m guessing save rate goes down over time as people can only save once. Wondering is a pop score of 16 about normal for under 2k streams ? Or is the save rate heavily influencing it ?
do you know if older releases are capable of triggering the discover weekly algorithms? you said release radar only considers you within the first 4 fridays, so was just wondering...

Yes, Discover Weekly is always available, no matter the age of the song. That's why it's so powerful!
Are you using traffic campaigns or conversion campaigns for this first-week push now?
It depends on the artist, the ad account, past performance, and country targeting. I use both, depending on context.
Good channel. Do you do consultation ?
Thank you. I don't do consultations, but I do offer other options to help via dupreex.com.
