I had a octagon handle made by the man who said he teamed up with Killenger up in Ohio and it's the absolute best handle I've had in my hand. Perfect Performance and comfort to boot. Great, Great handle. Those omish guys are the greatest craftsman I've seen. Just awesome people who don't try and hide their knowledge. I got hundreds of years of knowledge just from hanging out in the wood shop for an hour or so. Thanks Buckin because I wouldn't have ever known about those handles if I never watched your channel

You are right; I am a bit of an English Language Snob. 95% of the time I can spell someone's name right first time I meet them. 99.99% of the time, I spell words correctly. When you used that new word, I didn't even blink; I just figured I had just learned a new but unfamiliar English language word; either one I had not heard yet, or a brand new one from my Buckin 101 class. But I didn't spend a second thought to want to check on it and correct you. I was just in awe of the moment. And yes, we LOVE YOU!!!

I believe English longbows are make using wood across the sapwood/heartwood boundary. Sapwood gives strength in tension at the front and heartwood is good in compression on the inside of the bend. Loved your thoughts on music, I only started singing at my local jam night when I passed 60. I’ve been doing every week for 3 years now. Great channel, love from Devon, England.
Years ago I was in my Grandaddy’s shop while he was making an axe handle...he had cut a mockernut hickory and made a block about 36” long. He took an axe and wedge and was splitting out blanks; I noticed he was going around the block and making blanks out of the sap wood. I asked why he wasn’t using the heart wood and he said the heart wood was no good for handles. ‘The sap wood is stronger and more flexible and not brittle’....so no heart wood handles for me...and on another note BBR I cringed every time that ox head axe cut into the ground when you were splitting...lol....safe cutting...

Just subscribed. My stepdad used to be a treeman back in the day and I always thought it was boring but man Billy Ray you have a way of making this stuff look so cool.
