Finally a channel that teaches you what to do with AliExpress bjd dolls. Thankyou. Shes beautiful you wouldn't have known she was a cheaper version xx looking forward to more videos xx
Thank you so much for your support Joanne! And yes, I was searching for other Aliexpress dolls makeovers but found like a couple, so that's why I decided to make my own videos. I've painted several ones so will be uploading more = )
And funny enough! The aliexpress ones are not bad quality! But yeah I love BJD dolls and the ones I want badly are like a couple hundred bucks! And there are some of similar quality on Aliexpress for less.
@@ritalai1857 you really can't call it piracy unless they claim the doll is exactly the same as from other companies. I think the proper word be a dupe

Wow! You've really inspired me to repaint my own dolls now. They're not exactly ugly, just plain I suppose. I love the realism you added. Since I'm a beginner I think I'll just redo the lips for now after seeing how many shades of pink & red can change the entire appearance of them. Mine look like their lips were just stamped on with red paint using the side of the stick of the paintbrush lol. I've watched many doll faceups over the last two years or so but this is the one to inspire me! Thank you! I hope you have several more of these exact dolls and the sister ones that are 1/4/MSD size. i have this doll too, but the version with elf ears! THANK YOU so much for not hating on these dolls!!! I've gotten so much hate for owning one! Your end result is so soooo gorgeous, amazing job!
Ah yes! I have several of these myself and they can be bought unpainted as well, just like a resin doll. Good to see someone showing the doll community that these sweet ladies CAN be beautiful. Thank you!
Honestly this is so so inspiring as someone trying to get into the hobby of BJDs, not only is this doll inexpensive, but it’ll be good practice to doing my own face ups so I won’t feel as pressured as I would painting on an expensive dolls face. Beautiful work she’s absolutely gorgeous!!
Thanks a bunch, and I agree. I bought a resin practice head many years ago, but this whole doll costs as much as that, so might as well practice on her = )
this is INCREDIBLE. i was in awe the whole time especially when it came to the blushing stage (the lips and hands were mesmerizing to watch), but when the full reveal came up, i covered my mouth with my hand involuntarily. she's so stunning, the only word i can think of for how delicate and beautiful this work is, is "breathtaking"!
This is absolutely lovely, and as someone who randomly watches figure making videos from time to time this really makes it feel so accessible and makes so much sense.... Such a good video!!

I’m so impressed with your repaint. I’ve seen these dolls and wanted to run away screaming at how bad their makeup is 😂 ok maybe I’m being overly dramatic. But I always wondered what they would look like if they had a good makeup. You made her so beautiful. Funny coincidence that today I received a resin doll with an absolutely horrible faceup, and a blank vinyl practice head just like your doll 😂 I immediately removed the resin faceup as I could not stand to look at it. I will be practicing a bit beforehand, I’ve doctored faceups before but never painted a whole faceup 😮 I will be watching more of your videos! Thank you! ❤
In the "early days" there was a huge problem on sites like Aliexpress of companies casting bootleg BJD by buying a legit doll and recasting it in cheaper resin. Probably much less likely with injection-mold plastic like this doll, especially considering what her joints look like (but I think older fans still have that left-over worry.) Having worked with both resin and plastic dolls there's some definite advantages to resin, but I love that there's plastic options available to help the art from grow... even if the price point makes it less "exclusive". ;)
@@zoinomiko some of the injection plastic dolls have been proven to be very slightly altered stolen sculpts too. Companies will take a 3d scan of an existing bjd head, tweak it slightly, then 3d print it and then make an injection mold. Honestly unless it's a Chinese company pushing its own original brand anything labled something like "ball joint doll poseable bjd 1/4" is likely one of these bootlegs
In the beginning I had to start over a few times and I learned to do the lines first. I got a trick now to fix dry paint but old habits never die I guess!
I'm so glad I found this channel! It's rare to see.a youtube creator do a really delicate and meticulous job on the faceup as you do. Thank you so much for your support! I think having a camera and trying to stay on focus gives an extra pressure haha so I understand more people doing this.
I'm sure there are many people here with a similar comment, but just be careful of what "sculpt" you buy on Aliexpress. Unfortunately while they are a great way to fine a cute, inexpensive doll like her, they also have a lot of recast dolls on there, and while I don't personally care what you buy, there are doll communities that are very strict about recasts.
Thanks a lot for your comment and your concern is genuine. I've been in the BJD hobby since 2009 so I know how strict they can be. I personally don't own resin recasts, and I've learned after making these videos that these plastic dolls seem to be from Ucanaan, but this territory is very muddy to me and I am learning on the way. I just know that I enjoy painting and taking pictures the most, and I'll be customizing other types of dolls as well in the near future

Sewing his outfit has been fun. The pastels will come at some point but intimidate me.

There are many dolls on Ali that are recast (especially if they're resin) but many of the vinyl dolls are original. Not sure about this one, but just coming from Ali doesn't inherently make everything a knockoff. 🙄 There are a lot of legitimate brands of Asian fashion dolls intended for children and also collectors that you can buy from there.
@@Krankhafter Framing it as a "cheap alternative" would make people buy recasts eventually, which is my main worry. I don't think alliexpress = knockoff but especially in bjd community, it's discourged against buying from websites like these.
Research is key before coming into someone's channel and gate keeping. This one is not a recast like the dream fairys are. Advice about recasts would come off a lot better if people wouldn't frame it with an accusation, then siting that "the bjd community" discourages buying from aliexpress. As if this exclusive club has the final word on what people are allowed to buy or are allowed to enjoy just because it was bought on a site that sells other dolls that are recast. These aren't even true ball jointed dolls, so please, just let people enjoy affordable dolls and customizing them without making statements that aren't true, and could make people feel as if they've done something wrong when they haven't. Every time someone shares one of these dolls, a gate keeper shows up to rain on the party. It's poor form.
@@ritalai1857 Exactly that, it's a shame that people don't understand what is wrong with recasts. They don't realize how much effects the real creators of these dolls. I'm also pretty sure that this vinyl doll has exactly the sculpt from a resin bjd, so still this is recasted to a vinyl doll.
