It's strange somehow, but Daniel Johann, this young man in his bedroom making little tunes for the internet, has become a pioneer of a whole subgenre. 2010s Lo fi indie and bedroom pop may have sounded completely different if it weren't for this one album existing. Johann is a strong creative mind and perhaps far more influential in independent music than some know.
i swear it wouldn't be this sick if we knew everything about him, it's the mystery of the artist, that makes everything so interesting, btw it's an amazing album
The one thing i love about Daniel Johann is that his music is almost like it's in it's own category or genre. Most bands or people who make music in the genre of alternative or indie or lo-fi capitalise off of teen angst. The basic stuff like " I hate school and people" "I want to be alone" and "life is a drag" but Daniel Johann's music captures the hidden beauty of teen angst. Majority of people who try this don't do it as well as Daniel does, that's what makes it so beautiful and majestic. So sacred and obscure
Its a shame that he doesnt make music under salvia palth anymore but it does also add to the appeal of it. Making that kind of music at 15 is just shocking, so much talent
The first time i listened to salvia plath and i was all over her was literally in a dream. I fell asleep listening to a playlist playing and at some point it played i was all over her. I was dreaming about a car ride with a stranger in the green mountains but for some reason we were passing abandoned places full of greenery and going to explore. I don’t know why but the music through my brain managed to slip into my dream and it was one of the most peaceful experiences i have ever witnessed. Towards the end of the song i woke up and one might think id be sad that such a surreal experience was over but instead i just put the song again and played it as i watched the peaceful dark blue sky of the morning dawn.
daniel’s music saved me. i was at my lowest but it comforted me when no one else did. it’s weird, cause i expected a friend or family to save me. kinda crazy.
It hurts how a video about how a guy dissapeared was made about another guy that dissapeared. Come back man, this video was so good, you’re great at talking music !!

The new zealander guy that told me that also told me that it was unfinished, and that track was the only finished song.
