I was once an Atheist. I told God I'll give you a month to prove yourself. I blocked out the world. Music, friends, tv and just read the bible, prayed, went to my Pentecostal church for an entire month. When I did watch tv it was a christian channel. It was the month of May 2011. On May 28th 2011 I gave my life to Christ. Here I am this day praising him. He is very real and loves us all. Amen.
"Christ-Haunted" Love it! Reminds me of "The Hound of Heaven" :D When I saw "Interview" I wept. The whole story was so desperate to me and I knew that the author KNEW who God was and was ignoring that knowledge. At the end of the movie, I turned off the tv and prayed for you. And now, I found out that He has brought you back to Himself and you are my sister in Christ! How sweet God is! O Taste and see - The Lord is SO GOOD!
From my first read of Interview with a Vampire I knew there was a strong tug towards God, eternity and redemption. She wrote in such a way as to touch something so deep in my life. I love this video. I love the way she speaks about her faith. I knew there was something deep in her writings, something driving me towards God, the depths of my soul responded in such a way - I just knew she understood it all. I was thrilled to hear she had made a recommittment to Christ.
Christ haunted.,,,has to be the best description of someone who knew him and walked away….I felt that and like she said what’s beautiful is the going home journey, he’s been with you All along
Such a beautiful testimony. All of these are, actually. Seeing all these over the last 4 days....now just days before Christmas 2022, I pray to my Savior, Jesus Christ, to heal us all. I know there are battles across the globe, but for just a moment can't we all embrace our fellow man with the Love of God? 🙏❤✝
Oh...my...goodness! I LOVE THIS!!!! I loooove that Annie is the new I am second spokes person. When I was in the dark, I loved her vampire chronicles. I read every single one of them. I read them like a devoted saint read the bible. It moves my heart SO DEEPLY to see this! God truly is amazing!
You are so inspirational Anne. I feel like I have been through the same path but just experienced a lot earlier in life. I think my love for your writing and also the love of art brought me through this journey. I had a same upbringing as you in an Italian Immigrant family. I think because you touched so much of Italy's art and culture and essence, is what brought me to you. The way you described the art and visuals in your book were as if I had seen them myself. Thank You! God Bless!
I love Anne's story. I love the fact that her story is proof that God never stops pursuing his children and that his love is without end. It's a story of hope and joy. God is bigger than everything that we struggle with. Every place we fall short. The work of Christ on the cross is sufficient for every one of us who calls on his name, no matter what. Thank you for sharing your story, Anne.
Anne is correct, and her reasons for leaving organized religion are extremely VALID. She knows her research and she's done her homework again and again. I cannot and will NOT ever feel any negativity towards this woman as she is very inspirational and good hearted. Thank you Anne for being one of the voices against organized religion. I am with her all the way!
Blessed Be, Anne Rice. I read your books and you did what was right for you. The vampire chronicles are excellent reading, even if you feel u lost your faith.
Wow! praise God! this is amazing! before i was born again i was a huge fan of hers and its beautiful to hear her speak of truth and total surrender. Pray deliverance and salvation for those who are still caught up on her books and others similar, there are people who truly believe that they are vampires and parts of the dark world. I was one of them and friends with many.
BTW Anne you were not haunted.. you were pursued,.... He was pursuing you..because HE loved you and knew you wanted Him. I love that He pursues us.. like a lover pursues His bride.. that is beautiful! . :)
I was a hard core athiest, hated God no mincing words here. Since I lost my wife, child n evem my family all to be restored. My wife is nkt but God has been with me I now run my own business that helps ministries all over the world am a survivor of Cancer of which I was completely healed, raised a daughter who was abused n molested by a bad man. Today I serve full time in my church, full time father, run a business and am the executive director of a nonprofit art and msc for disabled children.
After she supposedly denounced her Christianity she said this: "My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn't understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me. But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been, or might become." God see her heart and I'll leave the judgement up to him.
Landser64 What she is saying is that a personal relationship with God is more important than the manmade rules that different denominations place upon following Christ for their own power verses being a true disciple of Jesus and having a personal relationship with the holy trinity, and being obient to the holy spirit verses following other peoples interpretation of how to follow Christ, and she's right that is what being a true follower of Christ is about following and loving the Holy Trinity, through daily reading of the word, prayer worshiping our heavenly father and knowing Gods truth from the word and from developing a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Allyson Messina true indeed. When someone gets offended by a Christ follower because they don’t follow a denomination, it shows they are more after men rules than Jesus’ heart
Thank you for your public testimony. May it lead many to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. I, too, was a non-believer with a sexual predator as a father and then an emotionally abusive husband for 25 years. But I know that God loves me and has a plan for me. I am not alone. You are free, Ann, in Christ.
I pray the best for Anne Rice. I think her struggles with her faith are struggles with people who have misrepresented the true love of Jesus Christ. We all struggle with this. Anne has a community praying for her safe return.
@PlamerEldritch My quote I had taken from the clip you send was in correct or not? The quote I had taken from Ann Rice Facebook page is it correct or not? I had taken information directly from Ann Rice herself yet you claim I am a troll. I wanted to send you a link but I am unable to PM
In response to all of the posts...FAITH...that is how I know He is there....I can feel Him...you can 'call our bluffs' or whatever you want, but we do KNOW...
My daughter is in darkness, apart from God. i prepare myself every time the phone rings for the call...that she is gone. Atheist? Agnostic? Rebel? My heart breaks for her and for you.
Pray for her. I will also. I used to also be in darkness, deep darkness. But God came for me. If He could do it for me, He can (and will) do it for your daughter.
@Lordes I just want to say the FIREBIBLE is really good, it explains a lot of stuff I never understood, that i was so confused on, just saying. The "conflicts" in the long run really are to help people if you look at the bigger picture, i kno its hard to see. You can reject it, it's your ultimate choice, nobody can force you, and you can't get me to change what I know. But if you are completely happy about what you believe, why fight others so hard that have complete joy in their faith?
Capriceii Following Christ is following His word. His word says homosexuality is "an abomination". You can't honestly say that your following Christ when you deny His word.
@Lordes: It's GOD's Truth not any 'claim.' To clarify on topic, Anne Rice chose to leave the Catholic Church. In other words, because of the various scandals in the Church & because of her disagreement over certain social-cultural issues that the Church won't budge on, she no longer wants to be associated with Christianity as an organized religion/group/community. In the few interviews she did, she said she was still committed to Jesus Christ, so thank God she has not completely given up.
@PervyPanda11211 She mentioned a while back that she no longer wished to subscribe to the organized religion known as modern day Christianity. That's different from not believing in God anymore. "My commitment to Christ remains at the heart and center of my life. Transformation in Him is radical and ongoing. That I feel now that I am called to be an outsider for Him, to step away from the words, "Christian" and "Christianity" is something that my conscience demands of me." Anne Rice
Maybe not "return" but you can come. God wants a relationship with you and has been after your heart all this time. As you have walked away and kept your distance all this time, He's been right behind you. He's both pursuing and waiting for you. He created you because He wants more than anything else, to be your greatest friend. As for Anne, He gave her the creativity to write the Chronicles. It was part of her destiny. But she couldn't have seen or known that until she connected with God.
@mstngslly- Not Christianity- She quit organised religion. She still prays the rosary, still believes in God, etc, but she no longer attends Mass. I believe this is due to the hatred and bigotry that is prevalent in a lot of churches and in the hearts of many Christians today.
@SpeaksToDragons my own. i have seen how he has changed people for the better, brought them out of drug addictions, prostitution, abuse. i cannot deny Him anymore than you can deny feeling the wind outside. but i cant change your mind, only he can do that. all i can do is spread his beautiful message that he cares for you and loves you. trust me i didnt care about God til i was 19. i wasnt even sure he existed. and those were some empty, unhappy years. he came in, & has changed everything
@SpeaksToDragons I am Christian and i attend a nondenominational church, meaning i dont categorize myself as anything BUT a Christ follower. any other titles are unnecessary. and yes, i agree with you, we are all accustomed to having friends we can see and touch. anything else would be weird, right? so it would be hard to get used to the idea that God is your friend and absolutely loves you, because its not like you can see or touch him. but i have seen what he's done in people's lives, including
"I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being “Christian” or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to “belong” to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten …years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else." She remains in faith and that's all that matters to me.
@SpeaksToDragons he's not saying try a bunch of religions... he's saying try a relationship with God, and all you have to do is ask Him. Many people are turned off by religions because to them its just a bunch of rules and rituals meant to control people, but see actually having a relationship with God is totally different... He doesnt want mindless rituals and memorized phrases. he just wants you :) and trust me, in return you get the best Friend you will ever have. praying for you too.
@Drgnlady98 Of course, Vampire Chronicles are a excellent read, pretty much essential reading if your a fan of vampires. Its got little to with the Anne Rices current beliefs, except for that blunder that was Memnoch the Devil
@MrJangIes Your post made me so happy! I hope you continue in your journey with Christ and eventually talk to Him about your questions and figure out an answer together :) I love you very much! And once again, your post made me very happy! :)
Give it a rest rentalcity21 - it's obvious she has a very real, authentic, and rigorous faith. There are plenty of Catholic Christians. Salvation isn't dependent upon perfect theology, which is a good thing for you as well.
That's fine. Everyone has to live their own life. No, I wasn't saying that you don't have morals. I'm sorry if I implied that. As for doing good things, it's not for a reward. Whatever good thing I do is because He loves it when we do good and I enjoy it too. :) God bless you billythegirl, and have a great life! It was good talking to you. ^_^
As of July 28, 2010 All of your praising to 'god' is officially over. Anne announced on her facebook page, that she could not stand the hate in the christian religion against certain groups of people, and/ individuals. She got lost for a while among the delusions, as some do, but INTELLIGENT beings, are not hateful beings. And, she is not of HATE, as christianity is. She walked away from christianity, once again, realizing she was right the first time. PRAISE LESTAT! Welcome Home ANNE!
Okay so this is not quite as you've put it. I went to Anne Rice's official Facebook page, and searched for this post. And found it. This is what it says word for word: "As I said below, I quit being a Christian. I'm out. In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control. I refuse to be anti-Democrat. I refuse to be anti-secular humanism. I refuse to be anti-science. I refuse to be anti-life. In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen." So that seems interesting, why does she say "in the Name of Christ" I wondered? And why does she mention all those other things. Maybe it sounds to me like she's quit organised religion, but not her faith in Christ? Can this be the case. Well I decided to scroll a little up on her page, maybe she will clarify this herself. And couple months later on December 2010 she posted: "Well, here we are: the last day of 2010. What was the most significant thing that happened to you this year? Can you tell us in a line or two? For me it was leaving organised religion, gaining the courage to do this publicly and privately. It was painful, but I had no moral choice. How about you? Talk to us." So here she indeed affirms that it seems to be "organised religion" that she's quit. But still, how can we be sure? Oh I know, let's try this thing called "Google"! So I. did and found an article on the "Los Angeles Times" website, where they literally interviewed her about this. And they directly asked her what she means with "in the Name of Christ". This is an excerpt from the article with that question and her answer: "I wanted to ask you about that, because you have said that you quit Christianity “in the name of Christ.” From a practical standpoint, what does that mean, how do you follow Christ without a church? Are there rituals that you intend to maintain? I think the basic ritual is simply prayer. It’s talking to God, putting things in the hands of God, trusting that you’re living in God’s world and praying for God’s guidance. And being absolutely faithful to the core principles of Jesus’ teachings." Let me repeat that last bit, just in case you missed it: "being absolutely faithful to the core principles of Jesus’ teachings." Does not sound like she quit her faith in Christ to me.
C.S. Lewis went on this journey as well. You are not alone. God keeps telling me to assure you of this fact. He adores you. He died for you and would have if you were the only one on earth that needed his redemption.
Ricky Roberts We love you too! What do you think of Isaiah 53? It’s a very moving depiction of Christ’s sufferings I think. I hope you’ll check it out sometime. ♥️
@bordercollieluv ... Well Anne still praises god and jesus. Shes not Christian any more but she still believes in God and loves him. She will continue to worship him in her own way.
TheUnbeholden We can't worship God in "our own way". The Bible says "we must worship Him in spirit and in truth". God today is who He was in eternity past. He doesn't change. He is faithful and just. Merciful and tender. But He will never contradict His holy word. We can't make God in our own image.
@xDarkBloodAngelx I was Atheist, Not into her books, but i ask you this?" Whats stopping you from atleast trying?" Trust me if not me, trust god, its going to be worth it, just try it. He wont let you down, Whats wrong with trying? Atleast at the end of the day when you go to bed, you can be one of those people that can say at the end of the day"atleast i tried" Im not trying to force you, Just trying to save you. Even if you get mad at this message, i still pray for you. God bless
Kelann, you may very well have a point, but it seems a little rude to talk to anyone that way. As Christians we are to act kindly to other's no matter how they are. Be an encouragement instead of bringing other's down. I know you have it in you to do that :) God Bless!
I have always felt I was born at the wrong time,..and was told that many who share that sentiment are not square with reality..basically. She is fascinating to listen to though. A mind that is too highly educated can be decieved- and be deceiving.
Elbert Vendiola- Life without God is death, the walking dead. Only Jesus Christ (Yeshua) is THE way, THE truth and THE life! Follow Him!! - Don't judge Him by people who claim to believe. Recognize that we ALL (and you personally) have offended the Holy God Almighty who created us and allows each breath we take. We only exist by and through Him. We are guilty sinners who DESERVE hell. But Jesus Christ paid the debt for our sins and we need to truly understand and believe that there is nothing we can ever do to earn salvation. No works we can do are good enough, there is no righteousness of our own. We need perfection to come to a Holy God and He provided the only way! It is a gift so none may boast. Turn from sin to Jesus, trust believe and follow him. Read the Bible and pray and seek Him truly, continually walk with Him, and keep following THE way!! I will pray for you! God loves you and proved it at the cross!
Shortly after this video was released Anne rice publicly renounced her faith, and is no longer a Christian. She also stopped writing Christian books and returned to writing gothics about werewolf a and vampires. It's sad really..
Paul Sieber She denouced being apart of organized religion not Christ she still loves Christ she just doesn't like whats going on in certain churches thats all.
@Lordes: Christianity is a religious belief system that was built up over 2,000 years on the spiritual foundations laid primarily by the Jewish faith. A lot of this salvation history has already being recorded in the Bible. The Catholic Church continued the new Christian traditions Jesus begun with his ministry. All of that is very real. It was through faith from God that I accepted Jesus as my savior. Faith is the key, but you have to pray God gives it to you first. You make that choice.
I was once an Atheist. I told God I'll give you a month to prove yourself. I blocked out the world. Music, friends, tv and just read the bible, prayed, went to my Pentecostal church for an entire month. When I did watch tv it was a christian channel. It was the month of May 2011.
Most definitely, I wouldn't mind.
Give it a rest rentalcity21 - it's obvious she has a very real, authentic, and rigorous faith. There are plenty of Catholic Christians. Salvation isn't dependent upon perfect theology, which is a good thing for you as well.
and yet, we still are forgiven.
That's fine. Everyone has to live their own life. No, I wasn't saying that you don't have morals. I'm sorry if I implied that.
As for doing good things, it's not for a reward. Whatever good thing I do is because He loves it when we do good and I enjoy it too. :)
God bless you billythegirl, and have a great life! It was good talking to you. ^_^
Notice that she says she was a "Christ-haunted" atheist. While her back was turned to Him, He continued to pursue her heart
What good is it if you gain the whole world and all that is in it and lose your very self, your very soul.
This is what it says word for word:
"As I said below, I quit being a Christian. Amen."
So that seems interesting, why does she say "in the Name of Christ" I wondered? And why does she mention all those other things. Maybe it sounds to me like she's quit organised religion, but not her faith in Christ? Can this be the case. Well I decided to scroll a little up on her page, maybe she will clarify this herself. And couple months later on December 2010 she posted:
"Well, here we are: the last day of 2010. What was the most significant thing that happened to you this year? Can you tell us in a line or two? For me it was leaving organised religion, gaining the courage to do this publicly and privately. It was painful, but I had no moral choice. How about you? Talk to us."
So here she indeed affirms that it seems to be "organised religion" that she's quit.
But still, how can we be sure? Oh I know, let's try this thing called "Google"!
So I. did and found an article on the "Los Angeles Times" website, where they literally interviewed her about this. And they directly asked her what she means with "in the Name of Christ".
This is an excerpt from the article with that question and her answer:
"I wanted to ask you about that, because you have said that you quit Christianity “in the name of Christ.” From a practical standpoint, what does that mean, how do you follow Christ without a church? Are there rituals that you intend to maintain?
I think the basic ritual is simply prayer. It’s talking to God, putting things in the hands of God, trusting that you’re living in God’s world and praying for God’s guidance. And being absolutely faithful to the core principles of Jesus’ teachings."
Let me repeat that last bit, just in case you missed it: "being absolutely faithful to the core principles of Jesus’ teachings."
Does not sound like she quit her faith in Christ to me.
If your a friend of Anne Rice.kn facebook id say her current views do not in anyway reflect this video n should be reconsidered.
C.S. Lewis went on this journey as well. You are not alone. God keeps telling me to assure you of this fact. He adores you. He died for you and would have if you were the only one on earth that needed his redemption.
I'm Jewish but I respect Christians so much.
TheUnbeholden
We can't worship God in "our own way". The Bible says "we must worship Him in spirit and in truth". God today is who He was in eternity past. He doesn't change. He is faithful and just. Merciful and tender. But He will never contradict His holy word. We can't make God in our own image.
interesting
@xDarkBloodAngelx I was Atheist, Not into her books, but i ask you this?" Whats stopping you from atleast trying?" Trust me if not me, trust god, its going to be worth it, just try it. He wont let you down, Whats wrong with trying?
Atleast at the end of the day when you go to bed, you can be one of those people that can say at the end of the day"atleast i tried"
Im not trying to force you, Just trying to save you.
Even if you get mad at this message, i still pray for you.
God bless
im so confused
@TheLydianRocks You have that backwards.
around 3:30 her story sounds like eve, ( in our nature? ) lol
Kelann, you may very well have a point, but it seems a little rude to talk to anyone that way. As Christians we are to act kindly to other's no matter how they are. Be an encouragement instead of bringing other's down. I know you have it in you to do that :) God Bless!
Not entirely true. She still loves Christ. What she doesn't love is the politics within the Catholic church.
I have always felt I was born at the wrong time,..and was told that many who share that sentiment are not square with reality..basically. She is fascinating to listen to though. A mind that is too highly educated can be decieved- and be deceiving.
I have a question What is A life without God Please answer I want answers
Paul Sieber wow that's so sad will pray for her
Paul Sieber She denouced being apart of organized religion not Christ she still loves Christ she just doesn't like whats going on in certain churches thats all.
It sounds like a spirit of confusion.
@@allysonmessina1785 Yep.
@Lordes:
Christianity is a religious belief system that was built up over 2,000 years on the spiritual foundations laid primarily by the Jewish faith.
@bondurango .. your very smart. Anne Rice can learn something from you.
