Great to see. Always wanted to get to those lakes but was turned off by the road wash to the north.

Marten Lake in that area is a great spot to check out!

It is! I’ve hiked it as a day hike, but would be fun to overnight.

I had the same experience at Boardman Lake a few weeks ago. The bugs were soooooooo bad! Not mosquitos but gnats and they ate me alive :(

Hey Kara, love your videos. Have inspired me to get back into hiking and hopefully some backpacking/overnighters.
Question... what doe your kitchen kit look like? Stove/pot/etc? And do you pack a bear cannister? I live in Washington St too.

That’s great! My camp kitchen depends on the trip. For most summer backpacks I tend to go stoveless and will cold soak. Some overnights I still bring a stove and then spring/fall I always bring a stove. Hot coffee and hot dinners ate nice :) The stove I use is the MSR pocket rocket and I use there mini solo cook pot. I have a separate light weight coffee cup I picked up for cheap from Sierra trading post years ago. I use the 450v bear can for food storage. Most hikes I go on it’s not required to have a bear can, but it’s peace of mind knowing I am storing my food properly.
